Jean's expression is a bit of a tight smile. Almost-smile. It might have been intended to be one at one point, but sort of failed to manifest any actual humor. Jack's demeanor is familiar for someone who's spent time in noble courts from time to time (usually with the intent of robbing them blind), but he's not going to bank on being able to capitalize on that in any way yet.
