Not a terribly surprising answer, even if the kid seems a little bit evil-curious. You have to go beyond the depths of depravity to be alright with the end of the world and most humans never make it there.

Plenty of 'em contribute towards it anyway, for one reason or another. It's good to have a purpose, for one thing, and the darkness embraces you for who you are. The path of the righteous man is full of tests and challenges. Who has time for all that, just to meet someone else's standards?
