cryptsleeper: (far too still)

[It's an uncomfortable silence.  Alucard shifting to try and find a new position to sit up in that doesn't aggravate the healing injuries.  This child's level of analysis that if applied to his person longer, might be able to see entirely through him.  Shouts and groans and scuffling boots from other cells.  The whole thing is miserable.

For a moment, the promise of a book gets Alucard to perk up.  He needs to understand the whole of the situation, even his anger understands that much.  But as he looks at the person making the offer, there's a reminder of what's actually happening here: a child is taking on an unacceptable risk that could result in far greater harm to her than him.  Alucard can endure whatever would come of discovery.

He can't say the same for his conversation partner.

So there's a shake of his head no, but no other words.  She's smart, she must be able to figure it out.]
