"They can try." He shrugged his shoulders. He wouldn't bring up dying before, having trusted his men to support his decisions. He was more wary now, but not nearly enough for his sister's liking or for any of the Northerners.

He doesn't take it as a threat, but one of the many warnings he seemed to receive from those more world weary than him. And perhaps it was fair. Hadn't he been deceived by her appearance? Why exactly did he think she was kinder than she was? He simply wanted to believe the best of everyone.

And that was likely to happen again.
