Event #6 - PEACE ON THE HORIZON - Wrap-up

Event #6 - Summit - Wrap-Up
On the final day of the events, after lunch is served the Summoned will gather once again before the center stage. By the decree of the faction leaders, the Summit will end in a show local magics and technology by way of a friendly, low-stakes duel. What better way to make a show of comradery? Each faction puts forth one of their best in a three-way demonstration, lightly choreographed with the intent to show off each dedication's strengths.

The demonstration begins as planned. The well-practiced and perfected magicks of Thorne's academics are pitted against the High Magicks of the mages of Solvunn. Not to be outdone or outshone by silly displays of spells, the Free Cities lieutenant displays several different weapons in succession to each move of the other factions, each uniquely designed and flashy.

Near the climax, all three are faced off against one another in a triangle, casting and firing all at once. The stage is ablaze with the sparkling gleam of magicks and the bang of gunfire when a sudden gust of heat explodes near the front of the stage. Wood from the platform splitters and shoots out, nearly taking out a few members of the audience with it. A collective gasp is heard across the crowd as the duelists exchange uncertain glances with one another.

"You had best watch where you aim that." The representative from Thorne nods towards the weapon being brandished on behalf of the Free Cities.

The gunslinger scoffs, shifting the weapon to their shoulder. "If my aim were worse, both of you would have lost your heads during the first bout!"

"Wielding these unchecked powers are the exact reason we're here..." The Solvunn representative mutters, loud enough to hear.

The crowd is not silent for long. A voice joins in, exclaiming agreement that the excessive force is why the Free Cities cannot be left to innovate with such reckless abandon. Another shouts back, declaring that the old ways are dead and to live solely in the past is to abandon reason and forestall the progress of the realm. More and more join the fray, flinging accusations like knives.

"This is a sign! This was a mistake!"

"But none of them were even pointed at the front of the stage..."

"The fate of the Singularity can't be trusted to them!"

The duelists are quickly ushered off of the stage as the crowd erupts into chaos. Individuals that were manning booths face off against their counterparts across the aisle and it takes the coordination of guards and military personnel from all factions to finally subdue the masses for the time being.

The Summit ends on a somber note. No grand speeches are offered as explanation. All three leaders seem to agree that the best course of action is to end things quietly and quickly. The Summoned turn in their pins as they exit the domed area, guided to the portal that will send them back.

The Escapee
Byat Khuu are creatures not often seen by most denizens of Abraxas, spending most of their lives in large labyrinthian burrows several meters beneath the surface. They are naturally drawn to areas of highly concentrated magic which is why they tend to congregate in the wilds around the Singularity. But no one expected to see one at this event!

Some NPCs believe that the little havoc wrecker must have sensed the magical dome placed around the Summit to protect attendees and decided to take a look. This one will be returned to its natural habitat.

A few centuries prior a domesticated Byat Khuu (affectionately known as the "Byat Khuute" amongst enthusiasts) was introduced to the pet trade. Unlike their wild cousins, their quills contain no toxins and are surprisingly soft. They are noticeably less wily and much more complacent. They do not know how to burrow into hard earth and much prefer napping half the day and running over themselves in large circles.

There are several species of animals to find across the lands for the adventurous soul, and new ones are being discovered every day!
Switching Factions (Deadline)
All players will have until the end of the March Activity Check period (not this current AC, but the next one) to decide OOCly whether or not they want to use this Summit event to switch factions.

However, characters must make their decision ICly prior to the wrap-up events noted in this write-up. By the time of the duel, all paperwork will have already been processed and booths allowing for Summoned to switch factions will be closed.
