March 2022 Game Announcement
March 2022 Game Updates
Things are moving in the world of Abraxas, both on the main stage and behind the scenes!
Quests will be offered from this point onward on months that do not have a game-wide event. For example, quests are starting in March and will be offered again in May. Quests are entirely optional but are a great way to gain Influence and help move the plot forward.
Typically quests will be posted on the 5th and then open for claims on the 10th to allow players to plot with one another prior to making an individual or group claim. However due to the timing of this announcement, quests for March are posted on the 7th and will be open for claims on the 12th. Claims will close on the 19th.
For full details and to view the available quests for the month of March, visit the Quests Page.
To summarize, repeated visits to the Horizon and practicing magic within the Horizon can strengthen a character's ability to learn magics outside of Horizon. Characters who do not access the Horizon regularly or at all are at a disadvantage when it comes to learning magic, however those that are constantly in the Horizon will draw suspicion from the locals. It's all about balance and how you want to play!
It is also possible for player characters to teach other characters magical abilities from their canons provided there is a canon basis for these magics being teachable. Innate abilities to a character's species, race, job, class, origin, etc. are non-transferable.
The update is substantial so we recommend that players take a few minutes and read through the available information.

(Please go to the Settings page for the larger map.)
You will see that many of the routes go between factions. Inter-faction travel is currently restricted to NPCs only for trade and commerce. Player Characters will find that these routes are heavily guarded at the borders.
Player characters can travel to contested territory between factions. We ask that players be aware that traveling these distances will take several weeks of in-game time on horseback or similar methods, so if you want to meet up with a cross-faction friend for tea it would be easier to do in Horizon.
Due to these travel times/restrictions and being under the ever watchful eye of the factions themselves, if your character is planning on travelling outside of their faction we ask that you reach out to the mods so we can discuss feasibility of the request and any potential IC ramifications.
At this time Endsmuth, Nocwich, the Feywilds, and Fomalhaut are still off-limits for player character travel. These will be opened up in future events, so stay tuned!
Quests
We are happy to introduce the Quest System! But what are quests? Quests are single-prompt tasks for characters to sign up for and thread out in order to gain in-game rewards, establish CR, and build up the lore of Abraxas. There will be Limited and Unlimited quests, the former being more plot and time-intensive with a limited number of spots available, while Unlimited quests can be claimed by anyone.

Magic System Updates
The Magic page has been overhauled to provide more context for the different types and availability of Abraxas magics as well as guidelines on how to strengthen magical abilities and teach other player characters. Notes on the types of magics within each faction have also been added.

Settings Page
In order to help visualize faction limits, the Settings page has been updated with a new map. Faction areas are color-coded for convenience and common travel routes are plotted with a dotted line.

Questions
no subject
For characters who can teleport can they still teleport to the limits of a territory on quests to cut down on travel? And if not is the ability completely removed or are they limited to teleporting themselves to line of sight (for the sake of dodging monster attacks etc). Same basic question for flight.
I know that even if not nerfed, teleporting player characters can only move themselves and not their entire travel party.

Re: Questions
For Tier 1 quests that limit 1-4 how does proof of completion work if the group size is 1?

You may also do a closed narrative post of a sufficient length, but we encourage the first option to open up participation involving other players!
