Beginning on APRIL 18 - 24 (in-game) and following last month's eclipse, the Singularity will be in flux. All of the Summoned across Abraxas will feel the effects and will suddenly gain a window into the past of their fellow Summoned entirely beyond their control.

That's right, this is Abraxas' first MEMORY SHARE event! The purpose of this event is to allow characters to connect and share parts of themselves they otherwise might not choose to. Players are of course free to choose any memory they want (or multiple memories) for their characters, as well as choose who they want to share these memories with, although ICly, characters will not have a choice in this aspect.

Memory sharing for this event involves the following aspects:

• The effects appear to be involuntary. Characters cannot actively choose who they will reveal their past to and equally cannot choose which memories they will receive. The character receiving the vision will only have a split-second inkling before they are assaulted with an intense headache or migraine and nothing can stop the visions, while the character whose past is being viewed may or may not know exactly what's being shared or even what's happening at first - although the Arcana of each character will play a role, as well, in how two characters might interact during this event. For more details, see the Arcana Significance section below!


• Memories can be anything and are entirely up to each player! However, they should be something that was important to the character or left an impression upon them. Memories can last from seconds to minutes, or even longer. That said, experiencing a memory vision is an unpleasant experience. Players can decide the severity of the headache and which aftereffects they want. Effects can include pain, malaise, aural sensitivity, nausea, etc.


• Experiencing the memory itself can be as vivid or unclear as you want - players are free to determine this among themselves. One key aspect, though, is that characters' past selves in their memories will visibly bear their Arcana symbol somewhere on their person (whether that will be on their clothing, jewelry, or even a tattoo-like mark), similar to their appearance in the Horizon.

Additionally, there are two methods in which a memory vision can be triggered:

• In-person contact. This will be the method in which characters who live in the same faction will experience this event. Upon any brief physical contact with another, your character may trigger a vision in someone else or receive one. Contact does not need to be maintained throughout. The initial touch will be enough.


• Mutually existing within the Horizon. Anyone who might retreat into the Horizon to avoid the effects will find they're still connected to other fellow Summoned who are also in the Horizon at the same time. Within the Horizon, it will not be necessary to have any physical contact or even be near each other. Being connected to the Horizon together will suffice. This will allow for characters to experience memory share and visions with those from other factions!

As with all events, participation is optional in regards to the memory share aspect! However, all characters will be aware of what's happening to their fellow Summoned and will be affected by the subsequent impact upon the world at large.

Event Schedule

To allow for a bit of room for players to get things started, the event and wrap-up posts will be going up a little prior to the actual in-game date the event occurs.

The IN-GAME EVENT will ICly take place April 18-24.
The EVENT POST will go up April 16 for players to participate in.
The WRAP-UP POST for the event will be available on April 23 for players to view.

The event wrap-up will involve some (minor) character participation and decisions within their respective faction, and will have an effect on all characters within the game, so please be sure to keep an eye out for it when it's posted!

Arcana Significance

Each Arcana has been assigned a form, being either MUTABLE or FIXED.

Characters possessing Arcana of the same form will have the option to enter the memory together and see each other within it, although they will not be able to physically interact with the memory itself or alter it any way, similar to dream-walking. They will be able to speak to each other during the memory, however. This will give characters the opportunity to have a more intimate memory-share experience while reinforcing the (currently invisible and not yet known!) effects of sharing an Arcana form.

Characters possessing Arcana of opposing forms will not be able to enter a memory together, but instead will be able to have a neutralizing effect on the person experiencing the memory. Using touch, they can help ease the physical or emotional effects that might arise. While characters will not be able to stop the effect altogether, they can also help draw someone out of a memory early rather than the character being trapped in it for a longer period.

Ability or Transformation Gain

Characters will receive a gain of either one physical alteration, or one new magical spell/ability (limited to level 1 ability or the equivalent thereof) as a result of experiencing this unusual burst of activity from the Singularity. While this gain can be anything, we encourage players to consider linking their gain to what they've experienced during this event! To request your gain, submit it as usual on the upcoming Activity Check form.

For this event, you can choose to forgo your gain and receive it during the next event coming in June. However, you can only pick one or the other - characters who take a gain this time will not be able to take a second one for the next event.

As a reminder, gains do not require your character to learn or even willingly accept what they've earned. Rather, it's bestowed on the Summoned by the Singularity for unknown reasons. Your character can also discover their new ability or transformation immediately or it can be gradual. If you wish for your character to develop their gain over time, please let us know the limits of the final version of your intended ability will be, in addition to its limits when starting out, when submitting your request for approval.

Due to the nature of this event, which can include revealing secrets and knowledge not all characters may want exposed, we encourage everyone use this plotting form to discuss how they'd like to be affected or have others be affected.

What kinds of memories can I use?

You can use any memory you like! Memories do not need to be especially in-depth or revealing, so long as they hold some significance to your character. It can be an embarrassing moment, happy times making their favorite breakfast in the mornings, or of a beloved pet.

Can characters only share one memory at a time?

Not at all! Characters may share multiple memories strung together in flashes, if you wish for them to reveal several key moments over a period of time to another character. Generally, this would be linear, but it doesn't have to be. The choice is entirely yours!

Do the Arcana Forms affect who my character can share their memories with?

Not at all! The Arcana Form only affects if you can memory walk within the memory together or if you can calm another person down or end their memory vision early. Characters of any Arcana Form can experience standard memory flashbacks with anyone, however!

What if I want my character to only share a memory but not see any in return, or vice versa?

You're entirely welcome to have your character only participate in the "sharing" or the "seeing" aspect of the event.

Can two or more sets of memories merge with each other between characters?

No - characters will either experience the memory or they will be the one sharing it, but characters will not share and merge multiple sets of memories at the same time. However, characters can still experience each other's memories separately and individually.

Can my character use magic or an ability to protect themselves or another?

Because this is entirely related to the Singularity, magic and other abilities cannot ICly shield your character or other characters from this occurrence. If you want to opt-out OOCly from the event, your character can simply avoid the Singularity's burst of power for reasons unknown.

Will this affect my character's abilities or magic in any way?

No, this will not impact your character's magic or abilities in any direct way. That said, characters are welcome to experience some loss of control based on their emotional distress depending on what they see or share! Just be aware that the authorities will contain characters as needed before they can become a notable threat to themselves or others.

How will the factions react? Will anyone notice?

Yes - more information on how the factions will respond to this event will be on the IC writeup itself, as well as in the wrap-up afterwards. For a general idea, THORNE will be asking its Summoned to remain within the castle itself for the time being, the FREE CITIES will have more city guards patrolling in areas frequented by the Summoned, and SOLVUNN will have mages and kindly elders or neighbors going door to door to offer help as needed.

Please hold until the wrap-up post if you have something you'd like your characters to contact a faction leader or official about regarding this event, as there may be additional information available then.

What memories will your character share? CW: ... everything. It's the Witcher and Geralt in particular, so I'm just gonna blanket this for a variety of graphic violence, animal death, childhood trauma, genocide, war, and more.

1. His mother abandoning him when he was 5 years old on a mountain. It's fine, he found a new family?? Don't worry about it. This will probably be interspersed with some memories of Vesemir, since Vesemir is so formative to him.

2. His early days in Kaer Morhen + the Trials aka some fucked up childhood experimentation which includes a week or more locked in a dungeon while other kids die around you. After they let him out they were like "you did great! died less than everyone!" and sent him back in several more times. He's the only one who survived additional Trials. Possibly also the massacre of nearly his entire people? He didn't witness this, but he did hear it from where he was in hiding.

3. When he was kidnapped by Thorne and fucked up by the Queen, and then had a fun flashback. More directly relevant to Abraxas present day. Geralt's been tight-lipped about exactly what occurred even to those he's close to, but because he's so protective of Ciri and this may? Expose a hint of what he's been hiding, I'm going to limit this to close CR - people he'd trust not to tell anyone else if he asked them not to.

4. Memories he has of Ciri, especially training her, if you want some warm fuzzy feelings from him for once. Not all of his life is terrible! Just most of it. He has especially strong protective feelings towards Ciri.

5. Murder wildcard! Geralt's done some murder between Blaviken and more, and most of it is efficiently brutal. He's honestly pretty chill 90% of the time, so if anyone wants a glimpse of what he's capable of, I'm open to it - whether that'll make them see him differently or empathize or decide they should be murder buddies, I'm here for everything. Blaviken in particular hit him pretty hard and he's been carrying that burden with him ever since.

6. When he had to put down one of his own Witcher brothers after he got...a bit infected/possessed by a tree monster - his closest friend, honestly. Geralt's never told anyone about this; the only person who'd have been there was Ciri and the other Witchers.

NOTE: If you want a full gamut of his childhood, that can also be doable in a series of flashes. I don't think Geralt has very clear memories of his boyhood because of what he went through, so it's likely the majority of it will appear as disjointed flashes, anyway.

Are you open to having your character experience others' memories? Yep! I actually would love for him to experience someone else's traumatic childhood especially if it has a lot of parallels to his own. I'm also open to soft happy memories - stuff that he wouldn't really have had much of in his own life.

Do you want to memory-walk with someone of a matching Arcana form? Yes! Except regarding the Trials. Geralt was re-traumatized with a flashback about that a few months ago bc of what went down with the queen so I don't want that happening to him a second time so soon.

Is there anything you don't want to interact with? Nothing I can think of, but if it comes up I'll just say so!

General Plans: So being that Geralt's hiding some major secrets related to Ciri, this whole thing is going to make him pretty paranoid. As a result, he will be elusive once he catches on to what's happening. Past the first 2-3 days, only his closest CR will be able to see him (the people he already considers family). He's effectively isolating in his home until it's over once he realizes the Horizon can't protect them, either.

That aside, his go-to when he's dealing with shit is to be alone, anyway, and probably he will be dealing with a lot in general from this. While Geralt doesn't really hide the facts of what happened to him, he's extremely private about how he feels about all of it and entering his head will make most people realize he hasn't gotten over as much of it as he wants to pretend he has.

traumatic childhood parallels??? i'd be happy to mix up some of wanda's childhood trauma with tender moments with her brother, which would be happier memories for her amidst all the bad.

Yes! Honestly I think once he experiences hers he'd be willing to talk a little about his own (plus family!!)

If you like, she could catch his memories first and when he helps her up, he could get sucked in and they do a memory walk in hers? She can also catch his childhood or the other option could be a glimpse of the scale of Ciri's power if you wanted Wanda to pick up on that relatable experience. I think with Wanda being part of Sam's trusted circle, he'd be a little less wary about her having seen a bit of that despite not being as close to her.

Ciri's training is also (probably?) a lot closer to what Diana can relate to as compared to Geralt's own which uhhh violated several human rights tenants.

Might you potentially be open to backtagging? I was sidelined for most of April by RL stuff, but it occurs to me that 1) they haven't met yet, and 2) there could be some interesting 'what makes a monster, actually?' memory swapping possible here!

So I've already established a lot of the memory swap stuff that's happened to him by now, since it's been important to his development re: how he enters this month in May and also because Geralt entirely isolated himself during the last few days of the event. However!! you're welcome for Sypha to have glimpsed a memory from him while she was in the Horizon unbeknownst to him and then just not been able to catch him until late May (since he's going to be out of Cadens from between the end of the event Apr 27 to the last week of May-ish, so he's pretty elusive).

I have several memories that I've written up already in other tags, including Blaviken, a montage of Soft Dad Memories, training Ciri, and various points of his childhood/the Trials, so if you're interested in one I can just point you to the thread where I wrote it up and you're welcome to use the same details for Sypha.
