INTERLUDE: MIGRATION

Interlude - Migration
Between MAY 22 - 28, every faction will see a flurry of strange wildlife activity. More specifically, small rodent-sized Moth Hares will be making an unprecedented migration across Abraxas. While these creatures normally nest near the Singularity and have done so undisturbed for many decades, it seems the recent activity around the Singularity has caused them to relocate en masse.

Moth hares are harmless, but can be a bit of a nuisance. They've taken an especial liking to bread and fruit, and can be found invading pantries to chew away to their heart's content. It's not enough to cause any undue hardship, but the local baker might be short a loaf or two of a dozen that week and characters may need to seal their windows or cupboards more tightly. Those taking advantage of the warm weather to have a picnic will need to keep a close eye on their sandwiches!

Faction officials have advised their citizens and the Summoned that these creatures should be left alone as much as possible to complete their migration, which they anticipate will not last past a week or so. However, in cases where they have become particularly bothersome, the Summoned have been asked to lend a hand. As with all quests, characters will be rewarded and thanked for their contribution.

By the end of the week, the moth hares will have finished their migration and vanished to parts unknown to settle into their new homes. Traces of wild moth hares will be difficult to find after this period...except for one or two that seem to have been left behind in each faction. In fact, by mid-June, characters might discover a familiar-looking domestic breed known as the Moth Kit appearing in pet shops and breeders around Abraxas, newly available for purchase.
Notes
Similar to last month's prelude, this is not an active game event! Rather, players can use this backdrop interlude as inspiration and incorporate it into any threads or CR plans they may have. You are free to handwave as much or as little as you want regarding this occurrence.

Please enjoy chasing away these critters or springing them upon the bread of your enemies.
Questions and Answers

If after reading these you're still unsure about anything, or your question wasn't covered, please feel free to hit up our Questions thread below!

Can my character catch one of these to study them?
Characters who want to bring these creatures to the academy or the equivalent in their faction may do so! Wildlife experts will appreciate the chance to observe one before releasing it. It's recommended that this be left in the hands of those who know what they're doing, though - moth hares are technically wild and will not do well in captivity long-term. That said, a tamed variation will appear before long if your character is simply looking for a pet.
Is there anything strange or unusual that can be sensed from these creatures?
These are just regular beasts who are exhibiting an unusual migration pattern. There's nothing strange or magical about them, and while their migration is unexpected, it doesn't appear to impact anything in a major way beyond being a bit of an annoyance for awhile in the cities.
Are these spotted only primarily in the cities or can they be found in the woods and desert wilds, as well?
While the majority of them will move through the cities, they will eventually reach the woods and deserts outside city walls as they continue their migration path outwards.
Will there be an event post for this incident?
There will be no event post! Players are welcome to use the details outlined here to flavor interactions in their own personal logs and threads. Our upcoming event will be in June.

Is there any downside to hypothetically encouraging one's pet gryphon to eat these buggers? Baby has to learn how to hunt.

This is not a joke question: how well would one man fare against a large swarm of moth hares

edit: for clarity he will not be trying to fight them, he will only be trying to save his gryphon from the swarm and I just want to know how many times he'll get kicked in the face and/or if they are super aggressive like killer bees and will track him and his family down

would these cute lil guys react in a mothlike manner to say, a bright light in the middle of the night? i.e. flocking towards it and perhaps booping into whoever may be holding said bright light (definitely not for the express purpose of getting to moon over how cute they are)

Say one gets accidentally covered with hare attracting dust, how far would they chase him? What they would do if they catch him?
