They will be able to successfully ambush one of the Acolytes. They will not be able to fully incapacitate them but they will keep them down long enough to retrieve a mask. They will notice that the Acolyte's face is very strange and that where you normally find eyes are two empty sockets that look like large keyholes.

When they examine the mask later, they will find out that the front looks very plain and there are no holes for visibility. On the backside of the mask there are long sharp prongs sticking out of it. They may not want to try it on themselves.
