During the course of her studies, Wanda can discover that users of High Magic in the past have sometimes made a pact with an Old God. In doing so, they were imbued with the Old Gods power and could channel it at will so long as the pact was not broken. Generally, this pact required the promise of a regular sacrifice or offering. Only those with power themselves or something truly worth offering succeed.
Further studying will reveal the name of an Old God known as Soris Immaneus. She is a patron of dark blessings, and is invoked during times of strife for her protection against even darker troubles. Wanda can create a pact by feeding the god her chaos magic, which will allow the two forms of magic to merge.
Wanda can make one of two choices: 1. She can go to the Council and propose her idea. Due to her standing in the commune and the dire circumstances, they'll allow her to make a pact with the god as long as the pact is dissolved afterwards. This means the magic granted to Wanda will be less powerful, as a temporary pact carries less meaning to the Old Gods.
2. Wanda can go ahead and do this on her own. She can learn enough to find the shrine and appeal to the god herself. This pact will grant her greater power, but she will not be able to break it without consequences. From hereon, she will have a patron god that she is tied to, one that may not like it when she interacts with or makes offerings to the other gods.
