EVENT #12: INVOCATION - COORDINATION POST (PART 2)

Event #12 - COORDINATION ( 2 )

This post is for coordination while the event is ongoing, to prevent the IC Event Log from being overrun by OOC mod and player communications. The comments section will contain applicable comments and forms for you to reply to as needed.

Use this post to:
◎ Coordinate event plots with the mods
◎ Request a mod dice roll
◎ Investigate or interact with a plot point
◎ Submit noticeable actions
◎ Write rapid IC exchanges
If you have any questions, see the Questions thread on the OOC Plotting Post.
Available Forms
For details on each form, see the sections below.
Be sure to reply under your assigned category if applicable.
Mod Communications / Randomization
If you have something you want to do related to the event plot, you can communicate and coordinate with us here. This includes NPC meetings, requesting large resources, destroying the environment, or anything else that may require mod permission to proceed. If we can't accommodate a request for any reason, we'll do our best to offer an alternative!

You can also use this section to request a randomized mod roll.

Interactions
Several interactions are available. For Part 2, there are fewer mysteries to uncover, but plenty to interact with to see what happens. You can interact with something as many times as you want, as long as there's a reasonable explanation for your character making their second attempt. Note that interactions might carry IC consequences, though we'll try to telegraph when characters are at high risk of triggering something. To interact, fill out the form, then comment under the corresponding item.

Interact

IC Exchanges
Use this option if you have an interaction you'd like to play out, but setting up a standard IC thread would be impracticable. For example, if your character wants to speak to several people about an event they witnessed together, you might want to do an IC exchange.

Treat this like an informal IC network thread done in person, where character reactions, snippets of dialogue, and other details can be quickly played out and concluded in-game without committing to a full log thread. Exchanges are game canon, and can count towards Activity Check under the category of a Network thread.

Start an IC exchange

Using the provided form is optional. Begin a thread freeform if you prefer.

Notable Actions
Submit any notable actions that are likely to gain attention from other players such as fights or disturbances.

That's exactly what I was thinking. [ He nods at Steve. ] If one of them is having second thoughts, there are probably others. A coup within their group would be ideal.

From what I was told, there was some success with dispelling some of the illusions they were using, since it wasn't academic magic I don't believe. So if we can get some Thorne mages to go with us, they can probably help with that part.

If there is a way to persuade the remaining cultists to let them out, we could try that. I doubt any of this is turning out the way they expected it to. If we can get them to hand them over to us, all the better.

But if not, yeah, smash in the doors.

[Jayden doesn't disagree either, but something still feels off about this, even while he's onboard with the plan. It takes a moment before he can articulate what it is.]

Second thoughts about what they've gotten themselves into's different from second thoughts about what they've done.

[It's a minor distinction, and ultimately doesn't matter in terms of the overall plan, but it might be important to keep in mind when to comes to how to approach the whole thing. An appeal to empathy is not likely to be very effective here, considering what the Acolytes have done so far, and having much faith in the idea that any of them might be genuinely seeing the error of their ways as opposed to just being desperate could be a dangerous mistake.]

[ What isn't ideal: being trapped in soaking wet clothes in winter. Winter also being something they're no longer used to from being in Cadens for so long (not that Claude was ever used to it anyway) and there are so many Faerghus jokes he wants to make right now. Except they're still at risk of freezing and not in the way he complains about in the desert's chill, and that wouldn't be helpful.

What's actually helpful is assisting with putting together the fire since some of the people they're with are in far rougher shape than the two of them and need that added help. Relatively speaking, given no one is doing well here - though it's paired with cursing his past self yet again for not knowing fire magic to speed this whole thing along. There's something which looks close to flint he's found while roaming the cave, so Claude hands off to a woman kneeling by the logs arranged with some dried plant matter beneath it in hopes it'll catch a spark, and he leaves them to it to check in with Sylvain. ]

Anyone answer yet?

[ He's going with the assumption Sylvain probably isn't staring at the rocks overhead just because and might be trying to send something instead. Hopefully those who'd wandered through the webbing really did make it out and didn't end up trapped somewhere else. Claude's just going to keep that thought to himself and also try sending something close to the same message he's guessing Sylvain did. Probably can't hurt. ]

Player Name: Lena
Character Name: Ciri

Action: After Geralt and Aloy go look for Team Water Tunnel, Ciri takes it upon herself to "be in charge" of the group camping out waiting for them to return with the other escapees. During this time, she will be keeping a close eye on Esmond and Hydnellia, clearly distrustful -- but she does make sure they get food, provides survival tips and assistance, etc. (If either of them wanders from the camp, she'll follow though.)

One of the first things she does is ask if they have anything that will help: any supplies (such as the glass jar she took from another acolyte), weapons, healing salves, or even local knowledge.

Understood. At the very least we may need to restrain the ones that remain so we can bring them back with us. They should be held accountable for what they've done.

Well...when you put it that way, I figure it would go something like this:

Plan A, they do as we say and it all ends peacefully. (And we can bring them to justice on our terms.)

Plan B, they're hesitant and we can try to wrangle out as many of our friends as possible. (Mayhaps this is where you were mentioning distractions? Right under their noses.)

Plan C, we begin combat.

I'm not really afraid of any of those options. If it comes to C, I'm prepared to keep everyone up when it's needed.

[ Full Party, get. ]

It's nice to "meet" you, Lenore, though I hope we can in person before we embark. I'm Himeka.

All of those skills are highly in need! Thank you so much for offering to help. I think we'll need everyone we can in order to pull this off. Our friends are likely in poor condition so we very well may need to carry them out, too.

I'm in agreement. We may need to figure out what leverage we can offer if they need convincing, so I'll have to see what the Council would be okay with. But we should be ready if worst comes to worst.

Yes, mayhaps Jayce can help with that? I'll see what he has to say.

Either way, this is one of the few times every nation has been on common ground. This may also show them that they can work together when it matters.

Opposing magicks cancelling each other out? That does make sense. And I agree, any help they could provide would be welcome. The Council is already appalled at how what has been considered sacred rituals and magicks in Solvunn are being manipulated.

Hopefully they would appeal to empathy or something, but some of them may feel their fates are already sealed. I'm not sure if we can reasonably offer them amnesty but it's worth trying. I think the hammer is going to come down hardest on Josselyn.

Though you're a blacksmith and Viktor is basically an alchemist, right? ...Can you make bombs?

[ You know. Just in case. If Goblins can make bombs surely Jayce and Viktor can. ]

Player Name: Heather
Character Name: Lucifer

When: Week 4, loosely after many of the Escape group have been recovered and continuing through the week after the Holdouts have been brought back
Where: Outside the makeshift-hospital inn
What: Weirdly not a fight or disturbance, but Lucifer is--on a frequent enough basis to note--seen propped against a wall of the building, acting like a pseudo-sentry and keeping an active eye on the area
Link: Thread, and mentioned in various other posts

Aye, check with him. As you say, I think we may need the cooperation of all the factions if we hope to pull this off.

In the meantime, I will consult with Stephen and Yennefer about appealing to Thorne officials for aid.

Jack would say that he did, actually, and describe in story-like detail his visions of the screens, as well as the shadowy figure that flickered in and out.

He'd ask if that meant anything to her, or if it sounded familiar?

Ciri will thank them both, and after observing they don't seem to be acting suspiciously and are actually being helpful, will warm up to them, asking Hydnellia for foraging advice.

Perhaps a couple days in, considering they seem to be on tentatively good terms, Ciri will approach Hydnellia and ask her for some details about the ritual.

1. Is the ritual Hydnellia underwent the same as what they put the Summoned through? Ciri remembers something about being told the Summoned are chosen to commune with the gods, so she wonders what the point is of doing it on regular folk. (she may or may not be correct in her understanding of what the Acolytes actually said; the ritual was stressful)

2. She asks if Hydnellia also saw visions, vaguely at first. If Hydnellia asks for further details, Ciri will mention the shadowy humanoid figure and a tower in the desert borne by some tentacled beast.

Delightful. Ok, Cas will go ahead and try to give the body a tug, being pretty cautious about it and watching for any movement of those teeth looking things on the altar.

Very important question here... Would it eat a pizza if Dante offered it?
