OOC Intro and CR Meme

Welcome to our OOC intro and CR meme. We encourage you all to get out there, plot, and introduce yourself!

There is no formal introduction log for characters joining the game. Players are free to introduce their characters however they like.

◎ For April, the market in Oleuni Square is CLOSED. In May, Nocwich will return to its usual schedule of opening every first weekend of each month. Characters can get some cross-faction CR here! Beyond those 3 days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and outside of game events, characters from opposing nations will only be able to see each other in the Horizon.

◎ We will have Quests again in May and Plot Engagement will open up April 17th. We ask that new characters wait 1 month before requesting a Plot Engagement.

◎ The OOC Plotting is scheduled for the 14th of this month, while the IC Event Log is scheduled for the 16th. This month's event will be a Mini-Event consisting of a gala and feast-style mingle in each of the factions.

CHARACTER INFORMATION:
Viktor is a scientist-slash-genius engineer-slash-BIG NERD. He's spent the last 6-7 years developing magitech with his research partner, which has not necessarily played out as he would have hoped, with much of his work being co-opted by rich people who are only interested in doing rich people things. He comes off as a fussy academic but is actually an agent of chaos who loves to break rules and do weird science and ponder orbs. Despite his general penchant for putting himself in danger by screwing around with unknown forces he does not fully understand and can't control, he is an idealistic, highly principled individual who believes that the purpose of scientific advancement is to improve lives. He’s soft-spoken but quietly ambitious, intellectually curious, and kind of an obsessive workaholic who is preoccupied with legacy.

I have an info and permissions post here and his app is here for further reading. Also a general heads up that Viktor is terminally ill—I content warn accordingly when relevant, but he basically has Fantasy Consumption and the desire to Not Die is a large part of his character motivation at his current canon point. VIKTOR IS NO LONGER TERMINALLY ILL. I still have an opt out just in case. Comments are screened!

CR YOU WANT:

✷ Science types, baybe. He hangs around the Cadens academies and likes to be in tune with the general scientific goings-on of the city. If you’re an engineer or a mechanic or another scientifically-inclined individual he would like to connect and swap notes! Also, you know, people to do weird magitech experiments with?? Technologically-inclined people to mentor??? He has, like, an undisclosed number of degrees and likes to talk about math and physics and stuff.
✷ BUSINESS RELATIONSHIPS. He wants to connect with people who can do things that he cannot, like go out on dangerous adventures and acquire exciting resources and bring him cool things. IN RETURN: He can fix your shit. He can make you stuff, provided it's not guns! I really want to lean into this now that he has more time/energy for it.
✷ idk. friends. People to get him out of his comfort zone, which is working until 4am and then falling asleep at his desk. He needs someone who will tell him to go to bed.

✷ Generally, his work involves faking magic via technological methods so he’s very jazzed about the real thing. His fancy Horizon power is identify, which means he can determine the magical properties of something by touching it. He can do this. For you!!! Beyond that he is usually testing projects in the Horizon. if you want to stop by and say hi and ask him what the hell he’s doing. Now that he’s officially cured, I’d like to circle back around to some projects he had to sideline in favor of that, like audio recording, various translators, hydroponics projects, etc.
✷ Viktor recently did some illegal human experimentation on himself to cure his terminal illness. It worked! But it was definitely shady and in the aftermath the government raided his lab and stole all of the stuff he didn’t manage to burn and/or smash. You are welcome to have heard about this if your character pays attention to such things. As an added bonus he can enhance his own magic with BLOOD, so, if those things sound like a weird hooks I can offer that.
✷ If people want to confront him about his tracker gambit, have at it—he is aware it was insane and very dangerous. Speaking of that, however, he wants to leverage his accomplishments and his invaluable giant brain in an effort to gain unrestricted access to Academy resources. Now that the Conclave is a thing, he’ll be working to loosen trade restrictions so that, perhaps, he can start to send his inventions out into the world (pilot program will be Jaskier: Live from Libertas). He would be happy to chat with anyone about these evil plans.
✷ Viktor and Jayce have a business venture for all your "making things" needs. Bring him your terrible napkin scribbles and he will make your dreams a reality. Would love to have him get working on some new projects now that he isn’t worried about, you know, dying.
✷ He’ll be scooting out to Aquila towards the end of the month on a little working vacation maybe. Stay tuned for big life developments.

Science nerd friends? Obi-Wan's familiar with and curious about- pretty much anything and everything and the entirety of Victor's work is something he'll find fascinating.

yeah! actually the next thing he's going to be working on is, uh, maybe a foray into proto-AI. tell him about space and droids and come hang out in the workshop it'll be great

Whatever he does, please don't give it anxiety. Obi-Wan doesn't want to deal with another Threepio here x-x.

Eventually he'll want to work up to trying to build a new lightsaber or similarish equivilent but that's a long term project Viktor might be interested in observing.

I mean he already had to destroy his first attempt because it may have been evil and he didn't want the government to have it. but he has a better idea of things now so everything will be fine going forward

he would definitely be intrigued by the lightsaber! does he think it's a good idea to give the Cadens military access to a death ray? hmmm

There is the old nugget 'this isn't a weapon but a part of my religion' but who knows how much wiggle room that'll give obi-wan, especially since this isn't something you just *hand over* to the military.

Nevermind that non force users are far more likely to lop off their own limbs

well. she has to meet him now that he's not DYING to make sure that he's not actually dying anymore. maybe a mini-event kind of thing, but know that i am making my claim for his time

YEAH they definitely gotta hang out. idk if the mini event is going to be a cross-faction thing but we can always do horizon stuff! Happy to see what it is and then go from there.
