PRELUDE: PECULIAR LIGHTS
Prelude - Peculiar Lights
As Spring festivals are held across the three nations in May, claims of unusual lights begin to arise. Anyone who travels to the furthest edges of a town will glimpse these strange floating lights in the distance. At first, there are only a small handful dotting the skies now and then. As the days go on, they begin to grow in number.
They dance and hover, but are harmless. They don't seem to have any effect on you or your surroundings. Drawing closer, you notice they contain a faint colorful aura around them. You aren't the only one who sees them. Word begins to spread throughout the locals. Experts agree it's an odd phenomenon, one they haven't heard of before...or at least nothing that's been recorded in the books.
There are, however, rumors that glowing lights were occasionally seen in the ancient days before Thorne conquered nearly all of Abraxas and drove numerous from their homes.

Notes
As with all interludes and preludes, this is not a formal game event! Rather, players can use the details described as inspiration and incorporate it into any threads or CR plans they may have. You can handwave as much or as little as you want regarding this occurrence. If you'd like, you can use this OOC post to plot with each other.
Questions and Answers
If after reading these you're still unsure about anything, or your question wasn't covered, please feel free to hit up our Questions thread below!
- What will touching the lights do?
- Touching the lights will cause them to flick away out of reach. The lights themselves don't feel like anything, though characters sensitive to magic can sense that in them.
- How long will these lights last?
- They'll be there into June! Next month's event might provide some answers as to what they mean.
- What can characters learn about these lights through research?
- Not much is known about them! Scholars will be arguing immediately over what might be causing the phenomenon. Depending on your location, theories range from the appearance of another old god to pollen from a new plant species in Nocwich that's been carried across the land by winds.
- Can the lights be seen from the inner areas of the cities?
- Somewhat. They'll appear as a fuzzy glow against the horizon, but characters won't be able to distinguish the individual lights unless they travel to the edges of their respective locations. They're also easier to see at night.
- Will there be an event post for this?
- There will be no event post! Players are welcome to use the details outlined here to flavor interactions in their personal logs and threads. Our upcoming event will be in June.
