It's time for activity check! This is our first regular activity check, so please check the FAQ if you are confused about any of the requirements.

We've added a new section for detailing your Horizon power/alteration as well, but don't worry about editing if you've already posted, you don't need to follow the form exactly.

Thread 2 Link + Summary: General Horizon toplevel where lots of shit was gotten up to.

Coraline's spell from Horizon is a form of Spirit Guardians: when she is scared, and only for as long as she's scared, two spectral hunting hounds will appear by her sides. They'll become more opaque the more scared she is: they are always able to cause physical damage on her command, but will attack automatically when fully opaque. If she spends Glamour then the dogs will transform into Hedge beasts and cause increased damage. Hope this is okay!

Jon's perk from the Horizon is a bunch of new eyes. They open up randomly from his existing scars, which means they might be tiny and on his shins, or absolutely massive on his throat. They can all see. They don't obstruct his bodily functions. He hates them very much.

Thread 1 Link + Summary: The Darkling attempts to build a domain in the form of a wall built around the entire Horizon. Estinien considers this an attempt at domination over the rest of the realm. After a series of escalating conflicts between the two, it comes to blows. In the end, they are both 'fatally' wounded, but discover that killing each other in the Horizon doesn't actually make you die.
Thread 2 Link + Summary: Estinien and Eponine yell at each other in the aftermath of their failed escape attempt and time in solitary. Both feel like they are probably going to be killed by Thorne and things get very emotional as a result.

Horizon Alteration: Shapeshifting, specifically along the spectrum of Elezen to Dragon. His strength and endurance are increased proportionately to how dragony he becomes. This is somewhat emotionally based, and so he transforms accordingly to how 'in sync' he is with Nidhogg's spirit through various shared feelings and motivations. He can start breathing fire once he's halfway transformed.

Thread 1 Link + Summary: Jaskier travels into Estinien's domain in Horizon, which is on fire from lava flowing into it from a neighboring domain. After a slightly-threatening introduction, Jaskier insists on helping Estinien contain the fires spreading through the domain and aid in the saving of various animals in danger from the lava floe.
Thread 2 Link + Summary: Jaskier borrows Geralt from the prisons to take him for a bath, insisting he'll be used for various errands for the day. Jaskier actually spends the time informing his friend what information he has thus learned about Thorne, the Singularity and Ambrose. Geralt in turn shares about his experiences from the mountain mining expedition.

Horizon Power/Alteration: Jaskier's power will be control over plants through music, whether singing or instrumental. This includes accelerating growth, halting it, or reversing it to rot. Does not completely affect larger plants like trees (though perhaps he could coax one to bear fruit or encourage a branch or two to move, something that would not be outside the normal nature of the plant.)

Thread 1 Link + Summary: Ronan and Flagg bask in the ambiance of the Singularity and discuss the unique qualities of their respective magics.
Thread 2 Link + Summary: Ronan and Kylo Ren unite after Ronan shows him what he made with all the crystals he stole from Kylo's domain.

Horizon Power/Alteration: Ronan will be able to converse with trees, potentially enabling him to learn of events that were "observed" by those trees and any other knowledge they might share with him when asked. (This ability only applies to trees, not other types of plants.) With permission from the involved parties, he might also hear about events transpiring far from the trees he's currently speaking with. As long as there's at least one tree witnessing it, it's possible for the information to travel like a game of telephone in order for him to hear about it.

Thread 1 Link + Summary: one; Geralt enters Nadine's blank skeleton realm and they discuss their shadow children, and what it takes to protect them.
Thread 2 Link + Summary: two; Geralt finds himself inexplicably entirely at home in Sam's domain. They chat as old friends, though neither can remember when or how the friendship even started. He takes some of Sam's advice under consideration.

Horizon Power/Alteration: The heightened abilities Geralt normally receives when taking his elixirs will automatically trigger if he's pushed to his limits or otherwise under intense emotional stress, especially during potentially violent/physical situations. It'll turn his eyes pitch black with blackened veins. While he'll have no control over when or whether this happens, I'd like to leave room for him to maybe learn how to suppress it a little in the future, with enough effort (but he will not ever be able to deliberately trigger it when he likes.)

This will largely boost his speed/reflexes/senses, and will increase his strength somewhat (including his Sign usage), as well as keep him from fatigue. In return, it will give the same toxicity and side effects the elixirs do, those being: 1) a hangover after it wears off; 2) an inability to notice or feel any injuries regardless of severity, reducing self-preservation; and 3) difficulty holding back if he engages in combat while under its effect.

Thread 1 Link + Summary: Sam + Mal, Dungeons between events - Sam goes down to visit Mal after he got himself locked in the Dungeon for shovel-slapping the Darkling. Mal warns Sam of the Darklings presence, and Sam says he'll keep an eye out for him.
Thread 2 Link + Summary: Sam Top-Level, Horizon Event - Sam opens his home to anyone and everyone who wishes to come by, feeling comforted and rooted by the love he feels there, even if he doesn't know why, and willing to extend that to the people who arrive - whether or not he remembers them.

Horizon Power/Alteration: Sam is going to get something akin to calm emotions. It will work a bit differently, though, in that when he first gets it will be more limited to one, maybe two people at a time, but I'd like him to work up to being able to spread it out to more people. The effects will be similar to the D&D Spell in that if the character is frightened/angry/feeling an extreme emotion, Sam will be able to calm them to a more serene and 'calm' state. It's not mind control, the characters will still know what happened and why they had initially been angry/scared, but it will calm them down and bring them to a more general state of peace, and I will of course also have an opt-in/out post up in case players do not wish for the ability to affect them, but the idea is that there will be a kind of 'will test' to see if the other person(s) will feel calmed by Sam's abilities or if nothing will happen. Over time, he's going to want to be able to use this for when tensions get high, especially with Ambrose/other governmental bodies/guards/etc. He wants to keep peace and find justice (aka his sign) for all, and it's usually easier to do that when the people discussing are calmer. Additionally, it will be useful if/when he starts going out to help save others in various situations, though that's a bit more vague. I'd like him to work up to being able to apply this to a room full of people, etc, but that will be down the line. If that's alright with the mods!

Character Name: Eddie Dean

Horizon Power/Alteration: Something similar to the D&D spell Animate Objects. It's centralised specifically on the things Eddie whittles and only those things - he can't animate anything he sees or owns, only something he himself has carved out of wood with his own hands. My idea right now is for it to last an hour initially for a small carved creature or object, and it takes him more mental energy to animate larger objects, which subsequently remain animated for less time. He can have the animated object run around and do things for him, and he can also talk through it or listen to things that the object can 'hear', but it can't travel more than 500 feet away from him at any time. After the hour is up, the creature reverts back to inanimate wood in the last place it was.

Thread 1 Link + Summary: Susan visits the dungeons for a heart-to-heart with Eponine, Cersei, and Alina.
Thread 2 Link + Summary: Susan visits Nadine's domain

Horizon Power/Alteration: The power to change how people see her. If she rubs ash (any kind) on her forehead or hands, then for as long as the ash remains there, people will see her as she wishes to be seen. She can also use this to be invisible (i.e. not to be seen at all). This isn't literal shapeshifting - her body will physically still be the same, it just affects how people see her. If the ash is rubbed off, the illusion will pass.

Thread 1 Link + Summary: Kay and Estinien have an encounter within the Horizon shortly after everyone wakes up there. Kay makes some fruit that Estinien's sheep are absolutely buckwild for.
Thread 2 Link + Summary: Phoenix and Kay; the former greets the latter after successfully negotiating her release from the dungeons, and shows her around Castle Thorne.

Horizon Power/Alteration: Kay will gain the ability to shapeshift fully into a corvid. My answer for what variety of corvid her bird form most resembles will depend on whether or not Abraxas actually has native corvids; if it does, she will turn into a common local species, and if it doesn't, I'll pick an IRL species.

When Kay is a bird, she will retain her human intelligence. Her avian affinity comes with a knack for picking up on the "language" of other crows/ravens, helping her discern the meanings of their many different vocalizations and allowing her to gather limited information from the animals.

In addition, if it's not considered double-dipping, I think it'd be cool if her gaining this ability came with a permanent physical change of one of her arms (from the fingers up to the elbow) becoming kind of scaled and talon-y.

Thread 2 Link + Summary: Kiryu and Majima, in the Horizon, listening to the not-that-little parts of them that just really enjoy fighting one another

Horizon Power/Alteration: Kiryu will be coming back with an Antimagic Field, a 10ft bubble that suppresses magic and magical effects as long as he has it up. It can't undo non-active effects (like it can't undo a magical healing so that it was never healed if the wound is already healed) but if someone throws a fireball his way, it should fizzle once it hits the perimeter. He needs to be conscious to use it (can't just set it and forget it and sleep) but it does follow him where he goes.

Thread 1 Link + Summary: Harrow wanders her way to the Greywaren's domain, and has what one might be able to call the good kind of identity crisis.
Thread 2 Link + Summary: Harrow's domain sees more traffic than the Locked Tomb has gotten in ten thousand years (this is a top level that got a bunch of replies and I am very happy about that!).

Horizon Power/Alteration: This was hard because anything under necromancy she can already do, but I finally settled on one; Harrow will be getting an innate ability based on Identify. Touching a magical object will allow her to learn its properties, how to use them, if it requires any attunement to use, if any spells are affecting it and what they are, if a spell created it, and if it was created by a spell, how to perform that spell. She can only do it on one object at a time, and it will cause a teeny energy drain the same as each individual necromantic act does—so too much identifying in one day without eating or sleeping and she'll start to bleed.

(also, I will be getting to the character arc meme sometime this week! A combination of having to think about it A Lot & having RL come up repeatedly to skewer me in the face is why I have not gotten there yet, but I am back to focus with bells on.)

Thread 1 Link + Summary: Bucky and Geralt - Bucky climbs a mountain because it was there and ruins the quiet Geralt had been enjoying.
Thread 2 Link + Summary: Bucky and Relena - Relena makes a scene after Ambrose's speech and Bucky steps in to make sure the guards don't actually hurt her.

Horizon Power/Alteration: Bucky can now create energy shields that can deflect magical and physical attacks. They will look like glowing white energy and he can potentially make a bubble once he gets a better handle on how to use it, but for now it will be more like a practical melee combat styled shield projected onto his arm or hand. He cannot throw it away from himself and there will be things strong enough to break through it or drain his energy through its use over time. It will also be easier to reflect off something fast-moving vs slow-moving.

Horizon Power/Alteration: Four tentacles made out of smoke or shadow-stuff (something dark and insubstantial, okay, she's not sure what) that come out of her back. Mostly they just wave around like extra, expressive arms or curl against her skin through her clothes, but with practice she'll be able to make them at least semi-solid, to protect herself, hold things, maybe pick locks....

Thread 1 Link + Summary: People wandering into Amos' space domain and being a mixture of freaked out or fascinated by it, so he gets to deal with that (and surprises himself in how much he ends up enjoying the company).
Thread 2 Link + Summary: Catching up with Mal after he got thrown in prison pre-Horizon event. The idea of learning magic? Now that's interesting.

Horizon Power/Alteration: Gravity manipulation. Can control the effects/intensity of gravity on any object within a 12-foot radius, with abilities getting weaker the further away from him, fading out entirely at the 12-foot mark. Only has a range of 0-6 g, with extremes on both ends requiring a lot of concentration to both reach and sustain. It will be draining, so can only be in effect for so long/there could be negative side effects after using the power (e.g. collapsing).

Thread 1 Link + Summary: One. Majima talks to his new cellmate, Jon, about the confrontation with Ambrose.
Thread 2 Link + Summary: Two. Majima working to collect crystals in the tunnels, stops Estinien to borrow a shovel and have a small chat.

Horizon Power/Alteration: Becoming one with the shadows. Majima will be able to envelope his form in shadows and blend into dark places more easily, essentially melding into the darkness. Especially effective for going unnoticed the longer he remains within shadow. Additionally, he can 'shadow leap' from one shadow to another over short distances. Basically a short range teleport but only viable through currently visible shadows.

Horizon Power/Alteration: Something akin to playing possum, if possible! A spell that renders her for all appearances and means of measurement to be dead. Conscious, but unable to move (I'm talking at all, not so much as blinking), use other magic (including her own native abilities) or speak for the duration, with a time limit of ~8 hours, and accompanying physical discomfort directly proportional to how long she's used it after she's finished. Lightheadedness, sore muscles, nausea, shortness of breath and the like.

Thread 1 Link + Summary: Alina and Himeka talk about their recent stints in solitary and escape attempts. Alina gives her one of Mage Jolene's candy.
Thread 2 Link + Summary: Alina and Mal visit and talk about the the unfortunate fact that Kirigan is here. Alina has mixed feelings about Mal picking up magic from the mages in Thorne.

Horizon Power/Alteration: A psychic bond with Kirigan (called the mental tether in the books). She'll sometimes will hallucinate Kirigan being in her space/pop up into his space. She'll be able to talk to him and observe what he's doing. She will not be able to see his surroundings unless she focuses really hard. For now she won't have any real IC control of it, and will just be oocly coordinated.

Thread 2 Link + Summary: A favor owed Hector comes across Geralt's domain and can't help but barter for his freshly killed rabbit to raise back up as a pet. He'll owe Geralt a favor moving forward.

Horizon Power/Alteration: Regaining a canon power- Hector enchants small pebbles with runes. When he places and activates them with a command word, they form a magical barrier.

Thread 1 Link + Summary: Jon and Jaskier meet in Jon's domain, bond over their wolf companions and discuss the feeling of deja vu they have.
Thread 2 Link + Summary: Jon and Belle grow close. Jon also learns how nice it is to lighten up and stop brooding all the time. Just seizing the moment.

Horizon Power/Alteration: Jon will gain the ability to summon a wolf spirit. It will act as a guardian that he can call in times of danger or when he is afraid. It will be see through, but outlined in white with glowing red eyes. It will remain at Jon's side until the threat is gone or Jon loses consciousness.

Thread 1 Link + Summary: Ralston and Coraline take potshots at one another and discuss their status as "guests" of Thorne while en route to the portal.
Thread 2 Link + Summary: Ralston and Misty react to Ambrose's infodump.

Horizon Power/Alteration: None.

However, given the flexible state of Horizon I would like to have Ralston's canon-typical magic accessible to him while he's in Horizon. Ralston would have some minor precognition abilities (limited to within Horizon, and unable to see anything 'outside' of it aka anything pertaining to in-Abraxas events because I don't feel like asking a million questions and I doubt y'all want to deal with that either). I mostly want to use this as a way to build CR (with other players' permission of course), but let me know if there are questions or if you need a formal write up.
