This post is for coordination while the event is ongoing, to prevent the IC Event Log from being overrun by OOC mod and player communications. The comments section will contain applicable comments and forms for you to reply to as needed.

Mod Communications

If you have any questions about the limits or scope of what you can do before you formalize it in an investigation, you can go over the details with us here. You can also submit the suspect to Celeste under the appropriate heading. Submitting the name of the suspect is not required to complete the mystery, but doing so may contribute to whether the suspect is caught or escapes.

Investigations

To leave opportunities for others, please limit the scope of your actions per submission. For example, if you'd like to test a key, you must specify a narrow set of locks in a particular section. Additionally, while there are no strict limits on how many investigations you can be involved in, we do ask that you try to stagger them a little to help us keep pace.

You can investigate something multiple times as long as it makes sense for your character to try again. This includes following up with witnesses if characters learn new information. To investigate, fill out the form, then comment under the item you're investigating.

IC Exchanges

Use this option if you have an interaction you'd like to play out, but setting up a standard IC thread would be impracticable. For example, if your character wants to speak to several people about a piece of evidence, you might want to do an IC exchange. IC exchanges can take place in the real world or the Horizon.

Treat this like an informal IC network thread done in person, where character reactions, snippets of dialogue, and other details can be quickly played out and concluded in-game without committing to a full log thread. Exchanges are game canon, and can count towards Activity Check under the category of a Network thread.

Normally I would ask what your definition of "unusual" would be in this instance, but I believe possibly communing with a god -- or a ghost -- would suffice. It even understood emojis! Can you imagine?

The wine merchant Alucard mentioned has a locked chest behind his booth. I suspect it's magically warded too, as most things here seem protected by magic.

There's a chance some of that wine is in there.

Rhy will enlist Istredd's help for the magical warding + Thancred, who has Babis' lockpick. (link to their discussion coming up with a plan)

He and Alucard will leave after the initial round of chatting with the merchant, go get Istredd and Thancred, and return after some time with Alucard approaching the second time as A Series of Bats. They'll be circling and making a mess of themselves, seemingly startled by something. The Alucard-bats will be acting as a distraction to lure the merchant away, with Rhy assisting by shouting at the bats and trying to get the merchant's 'help' shooing them away. The goal is to get him away from his booth long enough for Thancred and Istredd to tag-team the lock on the chest.

It stands to reason that we ought to be careful with things we don't understand. More careful if it seems they can kill us.

Someone could try to see if the same thing happens when they try it as happened to Himeka, but that probably isn't a good idea, under the circumstances. And I don't think it would help us find what we seek tonight.

Action: Ciri and Nero hand-deliver some positive yelp reviews for the pastry baker/merchant guy Nero made cry. Ciri will bully Nero into apologizing and explaining he ate one of the pastries for the afterparty, but it was really delicious and here's an endorsement for merchant guy and his very good and tasty pastries.

Ciri asks about the afterparty and notes that this is already quite the long party to begin with. Having an afterparty after this whole thing... do a lot of people attend? Vampires sure love to party. She says it sounds fun and that she's glad they were invited to Ikorr for Epulum.
