EVENT #17: EPULUM - COORDINATION POST
Event #17 - Coordination

Use this post to:

Available Forms
For details on each form, see the sections below.
Be sure to reply under the applicable category as required.

Mod Communications
If you have any questions about the limits or scope of what you can do before you formalize it in an investigation, you can go over the details with us here. You can also submit the suspect to Celeste under the appropriate heading. Submitting the name of the suspect is not required to complete the mystery, but doing so may contribute to whether the suspect is caught or escapes.
If you have questions about non-investigative aspects of the event, see the Questions thread on the OOC Plotting Post.

Investigations
To leave opportunities for others, please limit the scope of your actions per submission. For example, if you'd like to test a key, you must specify a narrow set of locks in a particular section. Additionally, while there are no strict limits on how many investigations you can be involved in, we do ask that you try to stagger them a little to help us keep pace.
You can investigate something multiple times as long as it makes sense for your character to try again. This includes following up with witnesses if characters learn new information. To investigate, fill out the form, then comment under the item you're investigating.

IC Exchanges
Use this option if you have an interaction you'd like to play out, but setting up a standard IC thread would be impracticable. For example, if your character wants to speak to several people about a piece of evidence, you might want to do an IC exchange. IC exchanges can take place in the real world or the Horizon.
Treat this like an informal IC network thread done in person, where character reactions, snippets of dialogue, and other details can be quickly played out and concluded in-game without committing to a full log thread. Exchanges are game canon, and can count towards Activity Check under the category of a Network thread.

Using the provided form is optional. Begin a thread freeform if you prefer.

LETTERS & RECORDS
no subject
Character Name: Istredd
Other characters involved: Cassian
Witness/Scene/Evidence: The letter they retrieved from the dressing room.
Action: The two of them will be leaving the dressing room after getting the letter rather than continuing their search there. They will leave the box there in case someone would miss it, and take the letter. Once in a safe place outside, Istredd will use a spell to reveal the magic ink as he's certain to have some kind of magic related to that.
Thread: Thread
Notes: Nope!
no subject
The dressing room that Istredd and Cassian visited seems like it hasn't been touched for at least a full day, however, which is strange if its owner was meant to be preparing for such an elaborate costume.
A red feather is pinned to the bottom of the letter.

Character Name: Michael
Other characters involved: Kelson Haldane
Witness/Scene/Evidence: The sealed envelope retrieved from the Dressing Room.
Action: They'll head to an area well away from the room and any prying eyes before examining the envelope. If the seal is non-magical and there's nothing outwardly suspicious about the envelope, they'll open it; if the seal is magical, they'll examine it more closely to try and determine the best way to open it without damaging the contents.

Notes: N/A for now!

1. A shiny powder that will make anyone caught in its cloud glitter very brightly for the next little while. You're welcome to choose how long you want it to last!
2. A collection of little notes and drawings addressed to Miss Cassia or Auntie Cassia, the woman to whom the empty dressing room belongs. The drawings are childlike, and contain imagery and depictions of the Nether: dragons, volcanic scenery, and Draconae children themselves playing. They wish her luck on her upcoming Epulum performance this year.
Between the painting on the wall and these notes, one can surmise the Drowning Maiden this year and the previous years was a Draconum woman named Cassia. Depending on what information they already know, they can either return to where the parade broke down to see if they can find Cassia OR if they've already seen the Drowning Woman during this year's parade, they would know that the woman who took the role this year is Ikorran, not Draconae like the letters suggest it would be - so someone has clearly taken Cassia's place.

- Can they make out the names of the children who sent the letters, particularly the one(s) calling her Auntie Cassia?
- If they'd like to approach one of the witnesses to ask about Cassia, is it best to make a new thread under that witness?
no subject
2. Yes, their names would be similar to other Draconae names, simple and without a family name attached.
3. Yes, please choose which Witness you'd like to question about Cassia! Retha currently has the most logical connection to her given the dressing room and her role as a performer, but you're welcome to try the others, too.

Character Name: Julia Wicker
Other characters involved: The Doctor
Witness/Scene/Evidence: Evidence
Action: Once the Doctor and Julia leave Retha, they will look at the note that Julia took from the compartment!
no subject
Because of the author's intimate history with Soraya, they don't want to confront her about this, concerned it will be taken as jealousy. They ask Cassia to keep an eye on things instead...as a favor, of course.
The note is pinned with a red feather from a bird with a distinctly fiery plumage.

Character Name: Himeka Sui
Other characters involved: Istredd (& Wanda)
Witness/Scene/Evidence: Istredd reached out about a warding rune
Action: Even if she doesn't recognize the rune, Himeka will draw it and try to preform a generic ritual to see what happens. Since Istredd mentioned warding, she'd probably do it on like the pillows she's been sleeping on or find a little secluded area to play with it.
Thread: Thread
Notes: Would Himeka be familiar with this rune from her work with High Magicks?
no subject
Himeka will not recognize the rune immediately. While Solvunn worships all Gods, some have more of a presence than others, and the Elders (and Solvunn overall) tend to favor or at least focus on the Old Gods. Himeka may surmise this may be one of the Cardinal Gods since it doesn't appear to show up very often, if at all.
If she attempts to use it on the ward, the ward will quickly envelope her into a delicious but quite suffocating jello-like substance. While she isn't in any immediate danger, she will need to either claw her way out or have someone help her. Luckily, the flavor is quite minty. If she is on top of some pillows, she may have one pillow join her in the jello.

She is going to try and eat her way out, though she will have some help from Istredd. But hypothetically...what will happen if she eats too much?

Character Name: Michael
Other characters involved: Istredd
Witness/Scene/Evidence: Istredd is asking Michael for assistance identifying a rune linked to the investigation.
Action: Not so much an action, but I'm wondering if Michael would recognize the rune or be able to draw a link between it and a given ritual or god? His primary haunts are in and around the Primary Settlement, and more recently the Tertiary Settlement.
Thread: Thread. As above, so below.

He'd be able to confirm this for Istredd as a second opinion, though if he communicates with Lucifer at all, he can potentially notice some peculiarities with the rune that Himeka and Istredd may not since Michael has knowledge of more "modern" concepts.

Character Name: John Blake
Other characters involved: N/A
Evidence: The sealed financial records of Marcellus.
Action: Figuring this is sufficient motive for further investigation, Blake will return to the party to mingle with local business owners and/or business partners of Marcellus.
He's heard that Oleuni Square is a fairly recent addition to Nocwich. Does the opening of the square coincide with any strange occurrences, such as an uptick of theft of product or missing individuals? Were there any more (or less) supply chain or quality control issues?
There is a mild but somewhat intense bend to Blake's questions due to his concern over the Square potentially being compromised, as it's a communal meeting place and meant to be a collaboration between the vampires and the werewolves. The financial issues presented in the documents may pose political ramifications, as well, so if there is someone leading the investigation, he'll share those documents.

However, it is this level of control that's upset some established business owners who've been unable to get their foot in the door in Oleuni Square, since both Ikorr and Luna have chosen to highlight new and small businesses in an effort to bolster their economy. As a result, larger businesses have lost the opportunity to sell to the Summoned and other customers visiting the Square.
Marcellus's partners in particular seem disgruntled with Oleuni Square itself, though due to the current investigation, they will be careful of how much they criticize the situation to avoid being implicated in the crime as accomplices.

In an effort to... do a little more, he will also offer his services should Ikorr or Luna require them. For future investigation purposes, mostly.
