EVENT #17: EPULUM - COORDINATION POST

Event #17 - Coordination
This post is for coordination while the event is ongoing, to prevent the IC Event Log from being overrun by OOC mod and player communications. The comments section will contain applicable comments and forms for you to reply to as needed.

Use this post to:
◎ Contact the mods
◎ Submit your suspected culprit
◎ Investigate the crime or track ongoing investigations
◎ Submit noticeable actions
◎ Write rapid IC exchanges
Available Forms
For details on each form, see the sections below.
Be sure to reply under the applicable category as required.
Mod Communications
If you have any questions about the limits or scope of what you can do before you formalize it in an investigation, you can go over the details with us here. You can also submit the suspect to Celeste under the appropriate heading. Submitting the name of the suspect is not required to complete the mystery, but doing so may contribute to whether the suspect is caught or escapes.

If you have questions about non-investigative aspects of the event, see the Questions thread on the OOC Plotting Post.

Investigations
To leave opportunities for others, please limit the scope of your actions per submission. For example, if you'd like to test a key, you must specify a narrow set of locks in a particular section. Additionally, while there are no strict limits on how many investigations you can be involved in, we do ask that you try to stagger them a little to help us keep pace.

You can investigate something multiple times as long as it makes sense for your character to try again. This includes following up with witnesses if characters learn new information. To investigate, fill out the form, then comment under the item you're investigating.

Investigate a witness, scene, or evidence

IC Exchanges
Use this option if you have an interaction you'd like to play out, but setting up a standard IC thread would be impracticable. For example, if your character wants to speak to several people about a piece of evidence, you might want to do an IC exchange. IC exchanges can take place in the real world or the Horizon.

Treat this like an informal IC network thread done in person, where character reactions, snippets of dialogue, and other details can be quickly played out and concluded in-game without committing to a full log thread. Exchanges are game canon, and can count towards Activity Check under the category of a Network thread.

Start an IC exchange

Using the provided form is optional. Begin a thread freeform if you prefer.

Notable Actions
Submit any notable actions that are likely to gain attention from other players such as fights or disturbances.

The young Draconae Babis seems to know a great deal about the legend of the Twin Latchkeys, the artifact that is missing.

Soroya said it was "capable of causing unknown chaos - or even altering reality." Babis said that they heard the legends in Nether and he came here in part to see the painting. He says there are many versions of the story, but one was about a man who was told his good fortune would soon end. To stop this happening, he went to a blacksmith to make the pair of daggers that could change his future by tearing open reality, and it instead destroyed him.

While not all legends are true, we should keep in mind that there are gods and alternate dimensions all around us, so there could be truth in it. Let's make certain to find it intact, if possible.

Alter reality? In what way?

Unknown. The artifact has been here a long time so any information about it is a legend now. The Nether seems to have stories about it, which is curious considering their distance from Ikorr. They also have an artifact that Thorne wanted, I wonder if they're aware of more on this planet.

You can ask Babis about it, he seems well-versed in the legend.

[personal profile] techmaturgy 2024-02-24 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I might.

What sort of artifact from Thorne?
magicalarchaeologist: (listening to side)

[personal profile] magicalarchaeologist 2024-02-24 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't believe we got details, Kyle or Rhy would know. Thorne wanted us to ask the Nether for the artifact in exchange for our help. They negotiated a different price instead since the Nether would not give it. I do wonder what other artifacts they may be aware of, if this is the second they have intel on.

Well, then they shouldn't have been surprised when you weren't able to secure its return, if they didn't even want to tell you what it was.

The Nether could simply be looking for solutions. I can't say I blame them, for the interest.
magicalarchaeologist: (wait what?)

[personal profile] magicalarchaeologist 2024-02-24 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Soroya said that the Nether believed it a more safe place to hold artifacts, if any were to exist. That could potentially be true, they are a distance away from everything and locked up tight as we saw for ourselves.

True or not, I highly doubt everyone is in agreement with that assessment.

[personal profile] magicalarchaeologist 2024-02-24 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
The vampires didn't think anyone was aware that the artifact was real. Of course there was speculation, but clearly someone(s) did.

Is that who you suspect, then? The Draconae?
magicalarchaeologist: (confused and thoughtful)

[personal profile] magicalarchaeologist 2024-02-24 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I don't think they'd do something so aggressive, but I think they know it exists for real. The High Magic runes make me suspicious of the Lunae. It is possible the thieves took it to sell to whoever wants it though.

Whoever did it, these preparations must have been made well in advance. These are more than petty thieves looking for money.
magicalarchaeologist: (staring off into space)

[personal profile] magicalarchaeologist 2024-02-25 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
The wards and blood signature, that's very high level magic. Whoever stole it, they are far from petty or ordinary. But their motivations are up in the air. I think everyone should be careful. Someone who can pull off that magic should be taken seriously.

The tearing holes in reality part sticks out - puts me in mind of the recent problems with creatures from other worlds coming here. I'd worry about any would-be copy cats who took the concept into their heads and believe these daggers a way to mimic things.
magicalarchaeologist: (serious stare)

[personal profile] magicalarchaeologist 2024-02-24 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
I agree, to the creatures and the rifts, but also with the Summoning and us. It's possible we could be looking at more than one thief, considering how much power it took to do the wards and blood signature. Maybe a foreign power is making a move.

I could buy the idea that this is a network rather than one individual, or at least someone with a fair amount of backing.

All worth considering at any rate, until more information is discovered.

It could be a few things, I think it's important the Summoned assist finding it, or find it ourselves. It's hard to know what this might mean to the conflict at large yet.

It would be our luck if a war starts out in the midst of a party. It wouldn't be the first in Nocwich.
