This post is for coordination while the event is ongoing, to prevent the IC Event Log from being overrun by OOC mod and player communications. The comments section will contain applicable comments and forms for you to reply to as needed.

Mod Communications

If you have any questions about the limits or scope of what you can do before you formalize it in an investigation, you can go over the details with us here. You can also submit the suspect to Celeste under the appropriate heading. Submitting the name of the suspect is not required to complete the mystery, but doing so may contribute to whether the suspect is caught or escapes.

Investigations

To leave opportunities for others, please limit the scope of your actions per submission. For example, if you'd like to test a key, you must specify a narrow set of locks in a particular section. Additionally, while there are no strict limits on how many investigations you can be involved in, we do ask that you try to stagger them a little to help us keep pace.

You can investigate something multiple times as long as it makes sense for your character to try again. This includes following up with witnesses if characters learn new information. To investigate, fill out the form, then comment under the item you're investigating.

Investigate a witness, scene, or evidence

IC Exchanges

Use this option if you have an interaction you'd like to play out, but setting up a standard IC thread would be impracticable. For example, if your character wants to speak to several people about a piece of evidence, you might want to do an IC exchange. IC exchanges can take place in the real world or the Horizon.

Treat this like an informal IC network thread done in person, where character reactions, snippets of dialogue, and other details can be quickly played out and concluded in-game without committing to a full log thread. Exchanges are game canon, and can count towards Activity Check under the category of a Network thread.

[ yennefer is hardly surprised that they’re meeting, though she doesn’t have a clear picture as to why. with the ongoing theft still under investigation, it was a matter of time they crossed paths.

she arrives first, waiting only for a few short moments before geralt and dean come walking up. she glances at dean first, giving him an almost bored once over (she’s fully aware of the last time they crossed paths, but chooses to completely ignore it), and then her attention turns to geralt and the centipede in his hand. ]

What is it they say? It’s the thought that counts? [ there’s a hint of a smirk as she steps a bit closer and gestures, an invisible hand taking hold of the centipede from geralt’s grip. ]

And where did you find this…gift, exactly?

[gynvael]

[ His lips curl with faint amusement. Hm. ]

In the baths. With a strange seed. [ He glances over his shoulder at Dean, who possesses said seed. ] We thought it best to determine the nature of the insect before we decide its fate.

[ It would be a misstep to unknowingly doom a person trapped as a worm. ]

[righteously]

( Right - the seed. He digs around in his skin-tight pants pocket as he chews, and pulls forth the not-a-pinecone to display it on his palm. )

We found 'em both in some kind of hex bag lookin' thing. Seemed kinda witch-y, maybe spell adjacent. For all we know, that centipede could be some poor bastard named Ron, so... seemed like a good idea to check.

( One cheek is absolutely full of food while he talks, sorry guys.

Also, this is so much less... fight-y than he was picturing, what's up with that?? )

[ her eyes are on dean at the mention of the seed, though he says witchy and her brow does arch. she’s aware that’s exactly the reason the two of them are here, but that’s one way to put it.

yennefer holds out her hand to dean - a silent not-request for the seed. ] Did you bring the bag as well?

[ not that she needs it, but she is slightly curious. ] This isn’t the first seed that’s been found. Hmm. [ the thought is more her own, spoken aloud, but still. ]

[gynvael]

Mm-hm.

[ She receives the musty leather punch. Then he just. Stands back to watch. In case the centipede does burst into a naked man or worse, he wishes not to be caught in that aura.

Perhaps he's eyeing her outfit somewhat. She looks...

Good. ]

[righteously]

( He hands Yennfer the seed and the sachet without argument; he's not a seed guy, go right ahead ma'am.

He sees Geralt ogling that outfit — it earns the guy one pointed elbow to the ribs and a look that reads pay attention, Jesus Christ, stop eyeballing your girlfriend — before his eyes go back to that centipede while Yen does her magical work.

The centipede which does not turn into a guy named Ron, but DOES turn into a god damn white rabbit. )

Huh.

( And then a fucking black hole begins to form, and he takes an automatic half-step backward. )

Uhhhhhhh-

( AND THEN THE RABBIT'S FULL-ON SPAGHETTIFIED IN FRONT OF THEM in a horrific display of gravity and reality and physics, before the whole thing comes to a climactic head in the form of a showering spray of glitter that coats anyone who happens to be standing in proximity.

There he stands, shining in the herpes of craft supplies instead of rabbit blood, blinking and silent for one long moment as he tries to process... all of that. )

What- what?

[ she takes the seed and pouch and turns them over in her hands, the centipede hovering nearby. there's a quiet sort of: ] Hmm. [ that escapes her a moment later, noticing the magic of it all, uncovering the small bits of magic she can.

so it is transformed, then. that's interesting, and the seed... she moves the sachet and seed into one hand, lifting her other towards the centipede just in time to notice the elbow to geralt's ribs.

yennefer's eyes glance up just in time to see geralt's move away from her, recognizing the feeling of geralt looking and appreciating. she smiles at him, briefly, before having her hand and muttering a few words - effectively reversing the transformation magic on the centipede and allowing it to turn...

into a rabbit? yennefer frowns slightly, surprised, and that is when a dark mass appears and begins to suck the rabbit away. yennefer, recognizing that whatever is happening is going to happen and that there isn't much more she can do about it, turns her attention back to the other items and drops the unseen servant of it all as well. ]

This is Academic magic. [ she says, to the two of them though she looks to primarily to geralt. ] Similar to what they have in Thorne, but much closer to what they practice in Ikorr. [ if dean looks closely enough, it does seem that yennefer has...almost entirely escaped the glitter. like completely.

she looks nice, after all. she's not going to let anything change that. ]

[gynvael]

[ Geralt frowns briefly when Dean's elbow digs into his side. It all happens in rapid succession, from centipede to rabbit to...

The fuck. His expression shifts from interest to concern. Will it—?

He leans to the right as the creature stretches and snaps with a pitiful squeak. Small shimmery bits rain down on them. For a second, he just. Looks mildly perturbed. That was...unexpected. His gaze flicks to Dean. Then he glances back at the void where the hare once was. A twisted portal? That was what it seemed like to him.

He'll have to inform Castiel there is no more worm for the angel to possess or speak to. ]

There's something else at work than mere magic. [ He doesn't fully explain what he means by this. ] What of the seed? Jaskier tells me it won't stay sprouted.

[righteously]

( .............................. )

So we're just not gonna talk about-

( A glance between Geralt and Yennefer and the space where the rabbit was, and- )

No? Okay, then. Cool.

( CARRY ON ABOUT THE SEED THEN, HE GUESSES??
God he hates magic sometimes. )
