Mod Communications

If you have any questions about the limits or scope of what you can do before you formalize it in an investigation, you can go over the details with us here. You can also submit the suspect to Celeste under the appropriate heading. Submitting the name of the suspect is not required to complete the mystery, but doing so may contribute to whether the suspect is caught or escapes.

Investigations

To leave opportunities for others, please limit the scope of your actions per submission. For example, if you'd like to test a key, you must specify a narrow set of locks in a particular section. Additionally, while there are no strict limits on how many investigations you can be involved in, we do ask that you try to stagger them a little to help us keep pace.

You can investigate something multiple times as long as it makes sense for your character to try again. This includes following up with witnesses if characters learn new information. To investigate, fill out the form, then comment under the item you're investigating.

Investigate a witness, scene, or evidence

IC Exchanges

Use this option if you have an interaction you'd like to play out, but setting up a standard IC thread would be impracticable. For example, if your character wants to speak to several people about a piece of evidence, you might want to do an IC exchange. IC exchanges can take place in the real world or the Horizon.

Treat this like an informal IC network thread done in person, where character reactions, snippets of dialogue, and other details can be quickly played out and concluded in-game without committing to a full log thread. Exchanges are game canon, and can count towards Activity Check under the category of a Network thread.

That might be of particular importance because we have noted that the ward and blood signature created is a higher level magic than most people would be able to do on their own. If the culprit has something boosting it, they'd be capable of more.

[cointosser]

You mean to say, the seed itself could be used in strengthening one's magic? Seems a bit hard to believe, but I can hardly say I'm an expert in such matters.

[magicalarchaeologist]

No, I believe the botanist was implying that whatever the seed grows into will make spells and potions more potent. Our thief may have access to the full plant and that is what they're using to boost their magic.

Clarification: he said the seed works the same as the plant.

Wow. That is a rare type of plant indeed.

Fascinating! Oh, I'm eager to get my hands one of these. However, that does raise the issue of how our little thief got his hands on not only one, but several.

It would have to be someone with financial access if the botanist said that it was expensive and rare. Probably someone from Ikorr who would know what plant to look for as it only grows here.

Wilhelm I believe has one, if you want to see it.

I regret to tell you the seed is fighting every attempt I have in growing it. I can tell it is one of the nightbloom, or quite similar to it, but... it turns yet back to a seed before anything can be done with it.

A curious plant indeed, unless my chaos has begun to fade. A detail I'm strictly ignoring.

That is very strange. Did the botanist say anything that would indicate it can't grow? Otherwise something else may be causing it.

I don't think it's the seed itself, honestly. Something, or, rather, someone, is keeping it from growing.

[magicalarchaeologist]

Perhaps our mysterious divine instigator. It seems to have quite the sense of humor.

You're certainly telling me. The pictographs, this seed situation, thievery, the fake skulls, the spaghettified rabbit, a woman's disappearance... this all reeks of some sort of, delightfully fun-loving god with slightly nefarious tendencies.

[magicalarchaeologist]

I have not seen a god in the pantheon that seems right for this. I wonder if it may be more tied to Ikorr and the artifact itself.

Who's to say Ikorr doesn't have all of their own horrible beasties and ghosts? They're vampires, after all.

I agree. The artifact is of great power, for all we know it could have its own supernatural protector too.

Oooh, that does raise a good point. That something, specifically, is attached to this item.

[magicalarchaeologist]

It would explain why its runes are unique and not associated with the god pantheon we've seen. I suppose we'll have to wait to ask the culprit how they called upon it.

I can certainly try, Geralt, but something is very wrong with these bloody seeds. I've never had something so directly interfere with my specific displays of chaos, but... well, perhaps someone out there is concerned I would be a bit too powerful with such a blossom.
