Welcome to our OOC intro and CR meme. We encourage you all to get out there, plot, and introduce yourself!

There is no formal introduction log for characters joining the game. Players are free to introduce their characters however they like.

Since the upcoming event is fairly large, we've provided an EVENT BRAINSTORM section for new arrivals to receive offers from existing players, who can invite them into their AU histories and help establish potential connections.

Only new characters may fill out the form for this section, but anyone can reply with suggestions. We encourage current players to reply with ways new characters can be incorporated into the event!

Important Notices

This month contains some important in-game occurrences. Be sure to review the details below!

IC Items

◎ Beginning APRIL 6, shortly after the new arrivals, the storm worsens. Lightning now strikes the ground, and heavy rains have led to flooding - including in the normally dry and arid Free Cities. Conditions have grown from troublesome to outright dangerous. While the major cities are better protected, the effects can still be felt. There will be a mounting death toll (moderate), and water damage to homes and businesses.

◎ Portals between cities are CLOSED in every territory. Because of the instabilities, portal travel has been shut down. Characters can still travel via horse or wagon, but authorities suggest limiting any long journeys due to dangerous weather conditions.

◎ Nocwich is CLOSED this month. Characters from opposing territories will only be able to see each other in the Horizon, which continue to undergo some disturbances.

OOC Items

◎ The upcoming event requires players to sign up for an assignment. Please read this post for more details. New players are encouraged to participate! Signing up only requires putting down your character's name.

◎ We recognize the next event has a lot of elements to consider, especially for new players. We encourage you to contact us if you're feeling a little lost! The goal for our events is to let players be as creative as possible. If you have an idea but are unsure of how to implement it or what the limits are, we're happy to guide you.

A Look Ahead

The OOC Plotting is scheduled for the 12th of this month, while the IC Event Log is scheduled for the 17th. The event will involve a glimpse into the future and will go until May 10.

We have some climatic plots planned into summer due to the domino effect that began with Event #17. However, to make sure characters (and players) have some room to breathe, May will be a quiet month with pieces moving in the background before things pick up once more in June.

Question for characters who are able to use their abilities to fast travel - with the portals closed, OOCly do you prefer we come up with reasons to hamper their abilities (like the storms messing with the Gray Space) to level the playing field for all characters, or are they still free to continue as normal? If the latter I'm thinking if he's still able to move freely Kyle would take over some of the littler courier duties again since it would be faster/safer for him to do himself.

Hello I have a welcome log I'm putting together for Thorne and planned on having a Nott prompt for when it's just the winds. I figured I could do an option for when the storm gets worse. Would that be okay if there are Summoned there when it begins? Would they be forced through the portal? Could they try to help anyone first?

Characters that can teleport will still be able to do so, but they will find it difficult. They may occasionally be stuck in place or delayed, or find their teleport stopping short of their desired location.

Hello! You may set it a day before the storms pick up, but once the portals have been declared unstable, Thorne will move to evacuate everyone as quickly as possible so that they can shut down the portals. The Summoned who are in Nott will be firmly requested to leave before the situation grows dangerous. They would not have time to stay and help. However, Thorne will assure them that Nott's city guards are entirely capable and that the kingdom will send resources as needed.

CHARACTER INFORMATION: The man, the myth, the legend. Achilles is very aware of his status as a legendary hero — he didn't choose everlasting glory over longevity for nothing! As an Ancient Greek warrior prince, he cares about his honor more than most things, with the exception of his very platonic life partner Patroclus. His chill is mostly broken, causing him to escalate to passion in a snap. Currently, he awaits his fated death.

CHARACTER INFORMATION: Wilhelm used to be the crown prince of Sweden and it sucked. Now he's here and, despite living in the gilded cage that is Thorne, he has a lot more choice in what he does with his life, so that's cool. Anxious, depressed, and generally a mess, but trying to be better. Allergic to being the center of attention. Stubborn for better or for worse. Kind and sweet but slightly feral.

CR YOU WANT:

- Friends! Especially younger folks. (He's 18 now. Still baby, though he would insist that he's not.)
- But also older characters to take him under their wing/mentor him/etc. He's assembled what's probably the most questionable crew of adult influences ever, and I'm always looking to expand the party.
- Magically inclined folks. He's finally worked through his mental block with fire magic, and though he's receiving help from a few characters, I'd welcome different perspectives too. He's also been practicing defensive magic and spooky shadow magic.
- On that note, he can help people who are newer to magic practice their skills!
- Similar character beats: dead brother club, beefing with controlling parents, dealing (badly) with responsibilities, queer awakenings, what the fuck is mental health anyway, etc.

CHARACTER INFORMATION: Medieval hero-king guy, but with more psychology. Well on his way to being a failed Aragorn. Works as a weapons tutor for the tween children of a low-end aristocrat; hangs out primarily with Mat and Sansa. Morally good, self-sacrificing, and always low-key distressed about the state of the world and human nature. Superficially affable, but hard to get to know on a deeper level. Canon point is the month between 7x02 and 7x03: he is en route to Dragonstone from Winterfell as King in the North.

CR YOU WANT:

- THORNE PEOPLE. I would like him to have at least glancing CR with everyone in the faction. Other factions are cool too!
- CONTINUING CR. I would like to develop more friendships for this character -- he has a few, and he has his sister, but he also has a ton of acquaintances, and I'd like to turn some of those into something deeper. For 1-2 reliable medium/fast taggers, this could also turn into a small plot I've been trying to lay groundwork for.
- CHARACTERS INTERESTED IN METAPLOT and/or PLOT CONTACTS IN OTHER FACTIONS. Let's get into each other's inboxes to talk about what's going on where we are!
- MORE CONCRETE MAGIC LEARNING. He goes to class all the time but I honestly have no clue what he's learning. If anyone wants to do some threads with specific content, I'm into that. Jon has a connection to magic in canon (but no powers that he's aware of and understands), so he probably has a little more facility than he would expect; he also is just a very hard worker who likes to do well at things.
- CHARACTERS FROM MORE CONTEMPORARY CANONS WHO WILL INTRODUCE HIM TO MODERN MEDIA IN THE HORIZON. Jon has never seen a movie or heard any kind of pop or rock music (except possibly in one thread almost two years ago, if I squint). He also isn't familiar with basically any common cultural touchstones: as an example, he has never heard of King Arthur or Shakespeare, or the Iliad or the Odyssey, and has heard of things that people from outside of ASOIAF/GoT-world absolutely have not. I don't want to overdo this (Jon Snow vs The Modern World has comedy value, but it's not an unlimited well!), but I do want to have a little fun with it! It also might be a good way to bond with more contemporary characters.
- TEACHING AND ACTIVITIES: he can teach any weapon/skill he knows (swords, shields, archery, spears, possibly horse riding) to anyone he likes from any faction, and he can also teach hunting and fishing. But he also just likes to do those things for fun and to stay in practice: sparring in the training grounds, hunting, fishing, riding, etc. All are good activities for new or deepening CR.
- SOLDIERS, SPIES, FELLOW MEDIEVALS, LEADERS, ACTION GIRLS, PEOPLE BEREAVED BY WAR, CRIMINALS, PEOPLE BORN IN STIGMATIZED POSITIONS: all are either types he likes or has things in common with! (Jon is morally good but not "lawful good"; most of his closest friends and allies are former criminals, and a lot of his story is about breaking with the traditions of his society to fight an existential threat.) MOM TYPES are also great.
- BOOMERANG TAGGERS. This is a "nice to have" and not a must-have, but it really helps develop CR. Give me a poke if you want to boomerang.
- UPCOMING EVENT STUFF. I'll have some specific requests for this!

CR YOU DON'T WANT:
- Dedicated stalker life-ruiners of the kind that probably aren't even a factor in this game. I'm talking, like, Joker vs Batman stuff. I'm talking people who are going to kill his pets and kidnap his sister. I'm basically talking about Ramsay Bolton. The occasional low-key negative cr is fine!
- Jon is probably reluctant to mentor teen boys, because the last one ended so badly (kid stabbed him, he executed kid, he will be messed up about this forever). Other kinds of CR (friendships, etc) with this kind of character are fine, but he probably won't be eager to step into a big brother role for a while.

PLOTS/THREADS/THEMES YOU'RE INTERESTED IN:

- Overarching plot
- Magical side
- Political side

I am interested (as a player!) in the overarching plot: it is my motivation for joining any game. Jon would be interested in trying to understand why things are the way they are (example: he'd be interested in stuff related to the Singularity here for the same reason he'd be interested in the Night King, the Three Eyed Raven, and dragons at home, and he'd be interested in politics here for the same reason that he's forced to be interested in whatever Cersei is up to at home)... but he's not hyper-intellectual, so while he's able to keep up, his own groundbreaking observations will be pretty rare. I'd just like him to be more in the loop than he currently is, so I'm especially interested in CR combinations that would help with this. That said, it's not the only kind of CR that interests me!

Also, side note: if we have discussed stuff on past CR memes and it hasn't happened yet, let's make that happen!

CHARACTER INFORMATION:
Viktor is a scientist-slash-genius engineer-slash-BIG NERD. He's spent the last 6-7 years developing magitech with his research partner, which has not necessarily played out as he would have hoped, with much of his work being co-opted by rich people who are only interested in doing rich people things. He comes off as a fussy academic but is actually an agent of chaos who loves to break rules and do weird science and ponder orbs. Despite his general penchant for putting himself in danger by screwing around with unknown forces he does not fully understand and can't control, he is an idealistic, highly principled individual who believes that the purpose of scientific advancement is to improve lives. He’s soft-spoken but quietly ambitious, intellectually curious, and kind of an obsessive workaholic who is preoccupied with legacy.

I have an info and permissions post here and his app is here for further reading. He used to be terminally ill and still thinks about it sometimes so I have an opt out just in case. Comments are screened!

CR YOU WANT:

✷ Science types, baybe. He hangs around the Cadens academies and likes to be in tune with the general scientific goings-on of the city. If you’re an engineer or a mechanic or another scientifically-inclined individual he would like to connect and swap notes! Also, you know, people to do weird magitech experiments with?? Technologically-inclined people to mentor??? He has, like, an undisclosed number of degrees and likes to talk about math and physics and stuff.
✷ BUSINESS RELATIONSHIPS. He wants to connect with people who can do things that he cannot, like go out on dangerous adventures and acquire exciting resources and bring him cool things. IN RETURN: He can fix your shit. He can make you stuff, provided it's not guns! I really want to lean into this now that he has more time/energy for it.
✷ idk. friends. People to get him out of his comfort zone, which is working until 4am and then falling asleep at his desk. He’s also currently having a really bad time because Jayce is gone, which means he’s slipping back into bad habits (not eating or sleeping, working all of the time, etc.) so he needs someone who will tell him to go to bed and/or to stop tampering with the Horrors.

✷ Generally, his work involves faking magic via technological methods so he’s very jazzed about the real thing. He is usually testing projects in the Horizon. if you want to stop by and say hi and ask him what the hell he’s doing.
✷ Once upon a time Viktor did some illegal human experimentation on himself to cure his terminal illness. It worked! But it was definitely shady and in the aftermath the government raided his lab and stole all of the stuff he didn’t manage to burn and/or smash. You are welcome to have heard about this if your character pays attention to such things.
✷ Viktor has a business venture for all your "making things" needs. Bring him your terrible napkin scribbles and he will make your dreams a reality. Always love to get him working on projects. Pitch him any and all of your ideas, no matter how stupid.
✷ HELP WANTED!! Viktor cannot manage said business on his own. Do you have a character who needs a JOB? A scientifically-inclined guy who might want to be a workshop assistant? Someone who can take the occasional trip to Aquila to manage operations? There may be an OPPORTUNITY for YOU.
✷ Viktor is kind of quietly losing it and has some secret designs to puzzle out the Summoning ritual so that he can create the universe that he wants (this is bad of him). I would like him to talk to other people who plan to stay in Abraxas, or desperately want to leave Abraxas, and also maybe anyone who has knowledge of the multiverse. Just think it might be interesting!!!
✷ He is a newly-minted level 8 influence and just got awarded an honorary doctorate from the Grand Academy of General Science, so if you need him to throw his clout around for your purposes, please hit him up. CHARACTER INFORMATION: Short lizard girl is excited to see you! Himeka is a Warrior of Light, which is kind of the malleable protagonist from the FFXIV storyline. She a laid back person who goes with the flow even in some of the most dire situations, rather than plan likes to jump into things head first and see what happens, and generally is keen to be helpful to anyone around her. She sees big cosmic moving quests as important as catching the lost chickens for a local farmer. She can be easily distracted by this things but eagerly wants to explore the world. I like to say she's chaotic good, heavy on the chaotic side and tends to be very blunt despite how overtly friendly she can be. She is a powerful mage in her homeworld who is skilled in both white and black magicks. Fishing and dragon enthusiast. "I'm a healer, but" meme.

CR YOU WANT: Any and all! Himeka is the sort of person who will talk to literally anyone. And everyone tends to start with a +5 friendship bonus with her as well. She's very trusting. But as for specifics...

➤ She has a softspot for troublemaking/sassy teenagers and wants to help foster their journeys to discover themself. Let her adopt you!
➤ Other magic users or non-humans! Sometimes those go hand-in-hand.

EVENT-SPECIFIC:

➤ Her WIP AU Info is here on her journal! I'd love to work out most history and connections with other gods. She is the Herald of Consumption with a blessing of Feast and affliction of Famine. She is all about indulgence and consuming all the good...and sometimes the loss of that and consuming too much.
➤ She'd connect well with other gods who are fond of mortals/enjoy being around them and helping them out.
➤ Any mix of waxing and waning relationships. Open to current or previous friends, lovers/fwb, family, enemies, etc. She's fairly easy-going so enemies would be more hard-pressed, but I am a fan of well-written conflict. And her Famine form could make for some issues.
➤ I'd also love to plan out histories with either complimentary or opposing blessings/afflictions.
➤ Himeka is going to feed SO MANY so if you'd like your character to have someone or a place to chill out and fill up, she's got you.

GENERAL:

➤ Working with and getting info on the Old Gods and High Magicks! She has rapport with two atm, Vimorskas and Koth.
➤ Himeka is teaching conjury magics to those interested! You do not need a background in magical casting to take part, she's happy to help tutor anyone willing.
➤ Her Domain is portable and mutable. But if you want to meet baby dragons and play under the sea, you're welcome to visit at anytime.
➤ Solvunn has become her home so she's big on creating a sense of community for Summoned in the Commune. As such she, Wanda, and Rocket are the official/unofficial Welcoming Committee. CHARACTER INFORMATION:
RIP to every other Wizard killed by the gods for their hubris but Gale is different. Better. Maybe even better than the gods!

Gale is a sad wizard man who loves poetry, talking, reading, and when people tell him he did a good job. He talks like he has the worlds biggest ego, but internally due to Events (tm) he actually is fully engaged in the belief that really the world is better off without him. He's a great cook, bit heavy on the meat and low on the vegetables, loves cats, and would do literally anything for a friend. Makes terrible jokes. Appreciates sass, but does not appreciate unwarranted cruelty.

Gale comes from a bad Dark Urge playthrough, at the end of Act II.

CR YOU WANT:
- Thorne Folk! Hang out with him in magic castle.
- Magic friends! Discuss magic with him. He'd love to learn about The Mysterious Singularity more.
- None-magic friends! Be impressed with him. Ohh. Ahh. All that stuff.
- People who are Sadder Than He is. Gale will absolutely box away all his problems to focus on you and help you cheer up. He is full of nonsense chivalry.
- Good people readers and people handlers! Gale is pretending like everything is fine, but I'd like people to gently unpick his façade. It's a very weak façade, but he will be very stubborn about it until you earn his trust. Why would anything be wrong!
- Fellow animal lovers. Show him your cat pictures.

CR YOU DON'T WANT:
- Forrrrr right now, I don't want to immediately dump any more intense angsty problems right on top of him because he's already got a lot to work through.

- The Singularity! Comedically, given the current plot, Gale will be like 'aha, that thing potentially birthed gods? I wonder if it could give you the power of a god --'
- Settling in and learning the local politics more!

- Cross-faction drama! His pals are in other factions, and he'll want to know exactly how hard it would be to meet up and what consequences have been in the past, etc etc
- I am... still awaiting his assigned patron info but if you want to table rough ideas I am game! I am considering future AU Gale being some kind of horrible spiral into a bad place, honestly, but TBC depending on if his patron stuff goes against that! Maybe I'll be forced to be nice to him, who knows!

Rough ideas:

(★) The Herald, The Lonely Wizard, The Summoned who seeks all answers, the Shadow of Gale Dekarios. Gale is all spells, no physical weapons. Illusions, great feats of magic, powerful potions, translating ancient texts and imparting ancient wisdoms -- but particularly illusions. Gale has a powerful understanding of everything around himself, a strong connection to magic, but when you are around him yourself it's sometimes hard to discern what is real and what isn't. He's trying to put on a good show, to cover his ever increasing exhaustion and weakness.

(★) All things can be Questioned and All Questions must be answered

(★) Potentially considering Gale betraying Thorne to help one of his friends (Astarion), and committing some heinous war crime in the process of saving them (whether actually necessary or not). He's... loyal. Torn between Astarion and Haelva in their messy divorce, desperate to be loyal to both of them yet unable to people-please his way through all that and slightly scared of himself he retreats to a tower he constructs, protected by powerful magic. As well as a physical withdrawal, Gale retreats inward. Instead, he throws all his power into research.

(★) Yet as his despair grows, so do the shadows around his tower. In his desperation to seek answers to unanswerable questions, Gale ignores all wisdom. Some say he sleeps no more, and that the very land around his tower seems to dim and be drained of magic -- maybe even life itself.

(★) Those who are brave enough to cross the choking, misery-inducing darkness bring the Herald all manner of magic artefacts. Yet nothing seems to please him anymore, no joy can be found. Still, he offers his blessing to those who seek understanding. Their minds are opened, they find understanding, yet sometimes they find too much understanding. Sometimes, equally, their answers only invite more questions -- incite a growing existential crisis that may or may not reflect Gale's own.

(★) Decide which bit earned the forbidden moniker. Was it some magic he used when betraying Thorne? Is it something he's pursued in his fixation on the Singularity, in his desire to understand Everything? ... Both?

After spending thousands of years preparing to defend mankind in an inevitable and cataclysmic war, a WWI spy crash-landed on the island, told the Amazons about the war, and when nobody else would go with him to fight, Diana ran away with him to go kill Ares, the God of War, who was responsible for starting and perpetuating WWI. After kicking some ass and being a good, soft girl, she learned that she's actually a daughter of Zeus, and has been grappling with her newly-discovered identity.
CR YOU WANT: I am here for any kind of CR! Definitely people who can kind of teach Diana more about people and other worlds in general, people she can spar with or teach combat to, mentorships, people who want to work with her to Do Good Deeds™, people she can hang out with in the Horizon, and anyone who needs a Mom Figure in their life (or just a Diana figure in general). She's currently running security for caravans going between Cadens and Aquila, doing odd jobs for the townsfolk in Cadens, visiting Nocwich on the open weekends, spending a lot of time in Libertas helping with rebuilding/relief efforts and other such efforts in her faction, and drops by the sparring rings fairly often (though not as often as she used to), so she's around a lot.

Hello ex-EB friend! In place of Wrathion I have a depressed wizard who tells jokes, chides people for being unnecessarily cruel, and loves magic : both teaching and learning it! He's a fellow Thorne person, too! He does come with content warnings (religious-driven suicidal ideation, questionable relationship with a goddess mentor turned lover) but if none of that is too much for you I'm definitely game to hook them together and let Gale's absolutely insatiable curiosity and lust to understand (and perhaps use) powerful magic lead them down dangerous garden paths while he repeatedly claims he has it all under control! Gale is, at least, very easy going and charismatic and game to explain things (because he loves talking).

Great minds think alike - I was totally about to hit you up, too! Let's be sad wizards together (while Jon is, all the while, kind of in denial about being a Minor Wizard Now).

CHARACTER INFORMATION:
Aloy hails from a post-apocalyptic version of Earth that was ended by a robot apocalypse and reconstituted via an extremely complex AI-governed terraforming system. This system is currently not in good shape! But it’s much better than it was, thanks to Aloy’s endeavors, though the aforementioned system still churns out a bunch of robot dinosaurs that she needs to kill, a lot. As a result she’s an extremely capable machine hunter slash RPG protagonist slash problem solver who was raised an outcast but has since saved the world like three entire times, and will have to do it one more.

Or she WOULD if she wasn’t HERE. Generally speaking, she’s a determinator with poor social skills but has recently come around to the fact that it’s nice to have a team, and friends, and people she can count on. All of that’s GONE NOW and she’s pretty mad about it, but she’s a good person at her core, and cares very deeply about helping people and not making things worse.

Gale will try not to comically crush Jon with asides of how he cast fireball when he was 8 years old. But aside from being annoying about it, he is a good teacher too! He ends the game as a teacher after all if you don't... you know, actively ruin his life in other ways. Magic is just sort of what he fixed his whole identity to so he takes any opportunity to talk up his credentials.

I was planning to throw him at the Thorne mixer too! Get him starting on his existential crisis before the event kicks in and generates a new one!
