He is the god you turn to when you are unsure — not because he will provide a concrete answer, but he will help you consider your outcomes. He will give you time to think about your decision. If the choice is time-sensitive, he will take on the burden of those time-related consequences for you so you can contemplate your decision without worry.
Apollo can also take on other kinds of suffering on his chain! He doesn't have the power to end suffering, only to move it to someone else, and he could never ask anyone else to do what he does. So he takes it on himself.

The consequences take the form of a small single link on a gold chain that Apollo must carry with him everywhere. The chain is thin, like jewelry. After 800 years, it's now long enough and wrapped around his shoulders so many times that it looks like a scarf or a cloak. The weight of the chain is destroying his body. He has a prosthetic leg after the original one was irreparably shattered under the weight, and there are shimmering gold cracks covering his body. He's taken to wearing a mask to hide the cracks on his face.
Catalysts: Apollo has forgotten most of himself. He's forgotten that he was once a god of music, of archery, of poetry, of the sun, of knowledge, of so many things. The weight of burdens he's chosen to bear for others has become almost his entire identity. He'll start to remember when encouraged to hold or play an instrument, or hold a bow and arrow, or when he attempts to heal someone, or perform any other actions that might relate to his old domains.
Reawakening: When he starts re-learning to express his own suffering through song or poetry, links from the chain start disappearing, and he'll have his pain alleviated slightly. It's not an instant fix but he will feel noticeably better as he starts to remember, and will try to reach out to others to get them to remember, too.
Behavior: Apollo in this AU is melancholy. He's always smiling, but the smile always looks sad and tired. He's in a lot of pain and lugging around an incredible amount of gold, so he moves slowly. He doesn't talk about himself or ask anything of his patrons. All of his suffering is repressed and buried deep inside him. He answers Echoes frequently; That's how people reach out to him to beg him for time to decide and beg him to take on their burdens for them. When he takes on a disguise to walk among mortals, the chains are not visible, but he still feels their weight. He still has a prosthetic leg, and the cracks on his godly body take the form of lichtenberg scars.
Wanted History & CR: I'd like there to be someone who remembers what Apollo once was, how warm and joyful he used to be. And also close friends he loves and visits regularly, even if he can't quite recall how they met. People he shares meals with. Also, someone had to build his prosthetic leg. I imagine it's fashioned from metal (not gold) and has an art nouveau flair. Still thinking about other ways Apollo will interact with the other summoned, too.
