State of the Game

Welcome to our State of the Game! Here, you can read about what might be going on in the world around Abraxas and with the characters in it, in addition to any OOC notices from the mods. Every AC period, you can report what your character has been up to and we'll include all relevant information in the next newsletter.

The Summoned Conclave is hosted in the comments section of each State of the Game. We'll provide the structure. Players are not obliged to participate, but we encourage you to do so! See here for details.

Summoned Conclave

Representatives | Link

New representatives must be chosen during this meeting. Any Summoned who want to hold their current positions need to resubmit their bid. New arrivals can submit themselves as a candidate if they wish. A bid as a candidate can also be submitted on behalf of another character, as long as OOC player permission is obtained.

Motions Sanctioned | Link

Solvunn has agreed to give the Summoned an old barn to use as a community center and hub for delivery services. This will include a board for locals to post odd jobs and simple requests.

All Summoned are encouraged to submit a motion to be passed and sent to officials for consideration.

World Events

Advent | Link
The Heralds of War returned, afflicting the people and causing strange dreams. The Summoned were introduced to Zorne, the Herald of Last Blood, who saw his mission as that of bringing peace through bloodshed. Solvunn seemingly chooses a side. The Free Cities claimed victory over the Badlands as a result of Solvunn's actions through the Gods. Solvunn now shares a portion of the desert while Thorne has retreated.

Whispers | Link
As summer turned to fall, eerie whispers surfaced throughout the territories. Dolls moved, spirit boards went missing, and children spoke to shadows. Eifstide was on its way.

Kingdom of Thorne

United | Link
Despite the losses in Borrel, King Sidwell allocated a portion of the naval treasury to Nott to further unify the Kingdom. While this put the new ruling family in better standing with Lyle, a small contingent of loyalists in the navy quietly disapproved of the gesture.

The Free Cities

Victories and Loses | Link
Victory in the Badlands raised spirits in the Free Cities. However, the destruction of a research facility is a cause for concern. Though the individuals behind it are top secret, the military presence has increased.

Solvunn Commune

New Settlement | Link
Following Thorne's defeat, Solvunn acquired a portion of the Badlands from the Free Cities, located east of the Primary Settlement. They sent out settlers and established a new shrine dedicated to Zorne. This is unprecedented since the Heralds are not usually worshipped. The Summoned in Solvunn can now travel to this area of the Badlands.

Flat | Top-Level Comments Only

Reply to the appropriate territory with the form to submit your character for consideration. There is no influence requirement, but links and actions demonstrated must be recent, within the past 3 months. A couple of examples will suffice. Try to keep it brief! Newer arrivals are encouraged to participate if they've been fairly active.

As a soft deadline, submit your representative bid by mid-month and close votes by end of month.

◎ Submissions are IC. By submitting, your character is actively volunteering and stating these qualifications in-game to the other Summoned during the meeting.

◎ Unlike submitting for influence, the focus should be on what your character thinks makes them suited as a representative rather than simply actions that have garnered public attention. Are they friendly with many of the other Summoned? Do they have experiences dealing with territory officials? Have they held a similar role in the past?

◎ To support, players can +1 beneath a representative they support, up to 3 candidates per player per territory. You can ICly vote as different characters if you have two in a territory, but your total as a player must be no more than 3.

Links & Reasoning Kaveh will nominate Alhaitham, against his will but cleared with Lins. He will open by saying that Alhaitham was an effective leader back in their own world during a time of turmoil and change, pushed for a lot of progressive changes long overdue in their nation, and was otherwise well liked and well regarded by their nation's god. He has experience in dealing with authority, demanding populations, and uncompromising restrictions.

But he will end with "he won't work a single minute of overtime, and if you try to find him off the clock he will walk out on you, and if you don't fill in your paperwork just right or catch him on a bad day he'll reject it." So, you know, vote for him at your own risk.

As one of the previous representatives, Nebula waits until closer to last minute before stepping back up. In the months she's been in Abraxas she's spent most of that time helping the community with repairs and "happily" taking on various threats between the Settlements with Aloy's group.

Most recently having set up a a watch during Event #20s sleepwalking with the local Solvunnites (something she's sense kept up, in light of new issues). While not always the most outwardly friendly, she's shown somewhat of a strong belief in helping Solvunn Summoned feel rooted. Most prominently in being the spearhead of the Solvunn Community/Quest board and beginning to try and organize trainings and other faculties.

As with the last time she stepped up, Nebula isn't super-selling herself with a long list of things she can/wants to do. She doesn't smile (does she ever), but she does assure she will continue try to do the right thing. She'll answer questions in the same, nononsense rapt way she always does. But everything she says is truthful and what she thinks is helpful.

Nebula could say she just wants crackers and Himeka would vote for her.

Links & Reasoning She's done the job before, and has recently made a public announcement offering to teach individuals certain funeral rights for the death of animals. Haelva would state that she's familiar with how being a representative operates, brings a unique perspective given her background and experiences here in Abraxas (like siding with the Heralds), and the like.

Haelva is FRIEND and she's biased but still.

Links & Reasoning She's the last remaining Summoned from when they first came to Solvunn, sure, and she's been involved with the community for a while, yeah, and help found the welcoming committee. She's represented Solvunn in the Nether and with Nocwich. She's been involved with the gods (for better or for worse). She's the chef at the inn.

But who really cares about that?

She's here because she believes that Solvunn need mores fish. The Summoned need more fish. Someone (who will not be called OUT) does not understand how this would help ease tensions, so Himeka has to campaign for this herself. As such, she provides savory fish hand pies to prove her point.
