Welcome to our OOC intro and CR meme. We encourage you all to get out there, plot, and introduce yourself!

For this round, we've added a separate form below for Game Plot Themes Of Interest. You can find the form on this comment. Fill it out and reply to the comment if you want to let us know what you're interested in for future mod plots.

Filling the form is optional, but we encourage you to do so as the mod team will take this into account when planning events and the game's direction. While Abraxas will overall retain its more serious tone to explore darker elements of war, horror, fantasy, and politics, any specifics regarding the above would help guide us in terms of what to emphasize and incorporate into the overarching plot.

You can list general themes such as body horror, cooperative missions, inter-faction fights, monster battles, festivals and mingles, etc. Or you can go into particulars such as "Events that create conflicting morals for my character."

If you want to fill out this form but not the CR Meme form, that's completely fine. You do not need to participate in the standard CR Meme to offer us your thoughts on the game's direction.

Upcoming event plot will be announced on the OOC community and signal boosted on Plurk! Event #10's OOC plotting post is scheduled for the 12th of this month, while the IC event post itself is scheduled to go up on the 15th. Stay tuned! Characters will find that the arrival of war brings with it more than battles and politics. Other forces are beginning to stir, both in the real world and within the Horizon.

CHARACTER NAME: Commander Jane Shepard
CANON: Mass Effect

FACTION: Free Cities

CHARACTER INFORMATION: Having been rightly called ruthless and callous by many in her past, Shepard is a big proponent of the shining golden line that exists between where she is and where she wants to be, and in traveling directly down that straight and unbroken path no matter how many rules, or people, she has to break in the process. Were circumstances otherwise, her legacy of bloodshed might see her regarded as one of history's greatest monsters, but for her redeeming feature: she was right.

She also has a storied military career, an alien boyfriend, a high tolerance for alcohol, adopts random gifted ruffians without asking permission first, and has pretty good muscles. So it's not all space-murders and warcrimes.

CR YOU WANT: Friends! Comerades! People to argue philosophy with and to drink with, and to get shit done alongside. Shepard has recently joined the Free Cities military, and so that might be a good hook for involvement or conversation.

CR YOU DON'T WANT: Probably not anything shippy. I'm usually up for nearly anything.

PLOTS/THREADS/THEMES YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: Shepard (along with Garrus) has been asked to check on people's basic information and living locations, for accuracy, so if you think that might make an interesting thread. She's also always up for talking to new folks and giving them in IC information rundown, lord knows an RPG character loves a loredump (I like writing them too). I've been contemplating putting up an open Horizon post for teaching people how to operate firearms who may not otherwise have that training, since Shepard is of the opinion that everyone ought to know the basics. Let's talk about what might be cool, and then do it!

If the firearms lesson happens I'm definitely interested in having Claude attend! Or same for the information check-in too, he's fairly wary of the Free Cities as a whole but I also think that it could definitely bring about some good conversation. Especially since they also both have military backgrounds (and war crimes) in common as well, so there's a bit to work with!

Well, now it has to happen, because that sounds excellent.

Shepard isn't exactly eager about Free Cities, but she considers it the practical side to back at current moment. Pragmatism win the day again! In any case, it could be an interesting conversation or two.

Great, I'd absolutely love this to happen for them! Especially since he hasn't really met anyone involved with the military as of yet, so there can be (eventually, not necessarily all at once) that to talk about as well. I'm definitely up for it whenever it happens!

I went ahead and worked up a Horizon Network post (with an open horizon-based log linked therin) for the gun lesson.

There's also a placeholder thread for Claude's in-person information interview for Shepard's military mission; don't worry too much about that for now, if you don't want to. I'm fighting the strong urge to just lay down and veg here on a friday afternoon, but I'll try and have it up and ready for you asap. (Or, if you wanted to kick things off without me, let me know; Shepard would merely be knocking on Claude's door with a clipboard like hey im here from the army just confirming your deets, sir)

Edit: went ahead and set it up, that thread can happen before or after any gun practice thing you might be interested in doing, however seems best for you

Ahhh perfect, thank you so much! The check-in is on my to do list for this weekend, and I definitely don't mind either starting with this one and then moving on to the gun practice, or I can start the gun one partway into the first so we can run both of them at the same time. Claude will probably be more curious about the check-in than any outright negative Thoughts on it so if we want to say guns happen after I think that'll still work, but I also don't mind handwaving time stuff either to make it flow. Whichever works for you works for me too!

Since the horizon stuff is sort of unmoored from the timeline, and the interview is related to an ongoing plot with Shepard, I think we should start with the check-in and then decide where/when we want to place the gun lesson— and Shep's pretty no-nonsense about her job, so that thread might end up being pretty short, all things considered!

But I'm greedy; if we're having as much fun with the CR as we hope to do, why not have two threads? (If nothing else, it's good for AC haha)

That sounds good to me! Same for if the thread ends up short that also works, especially since it'll just add to the whole intrigue of getting the message about the training and who it's from (depending on how stuff goes, of course). But count me absolutely in for two threads no matter what!!
