CR MEME #9 & GAME PLOT THEMES

CR MEME & GAME PLOT THEMES
Welcome to our OOC intro and CR meme. We encourage you all to get out there, plot, and introduce yourself!

For this round, we've added a separate form below for Game Plot Themes Of Interest. You can find the form on this comment. Fill it out and reply to the comment if you want to let us know what you're interested in for future mod plots.

Filling the form is optional, but we encourage you to do so as the mod team will take this into account when planning events and the game's direction. While Abraxas will overall retain its more serious tone to explore darker elements of war, horror, fantasy, and politics, any specifics regarding the above would help guide us in terms of what to emphasize and incorporate into the overarching plot.

You can list general themes such as body horror, cooperative missions, inter-faction fights, monster battles, festivals and mingles, etc. Or you can go into particulars such as "Events that create conflicting morals for my character."

If you want to fill out this form but not the CR Meme form, that's completely fine. You do not need to participate in the standard CR Meme to offer us your thoughts on the game's direction.

CR Meme Form
For the standard CR Meme, copy and paste the form below and post it as a regular comment as per usual:

Upcoming event plot will be announced on the OOC community and signal boosted on Plurk! Event #10's OOC plotting post is scheduled for the 12th of this month, while the IC event post itself is scheduled to go up on the 15th. Stay tuned! Characters will find that the arrival of war brings with it more than battles and politics. Other forces are beginning to stir, both in the real world and within the Horizon.

Reminder that the TDM, reserves, and applications have been moved slightly. Check the Calendar if you aren't sure about upcoming dates.

GAME PLOT THEMES

PLAYER NAME: dai
CHARACTERS PLAYED: sam wilson || yennefer of vengerberg || steve harrington
FACTION(S): free cities, thorne, and solvunn! (sorry mods)

GAME PLOT THEMES OF INTEREST: rubs grubby hands together like a raccoon.
- HORROR: i would LOVE some more horror-heavy aspects to the game, and i know it's not helpful to say all types, but also. all types. there is something so interesting in each of the ways this game could work with different styles, and i would love to dig my fingers into anything y'all come up with, but in PARTICULAR, the sort that could perhaps affect some summoned but not others, survival horror (if there's a way to get that to work), or something of the eldritch variety?

the singularity is being used and abused by these factions to bring in summoned to help them with this war, but what if they brought through something else? maybe a horror from one of the summoned's own worlds? (also because I'm very interested in the idea of these rising political tensions between the factions, but there being something all three have to work together, however tense, to save the world itself, etc.) also i do love the fun 'singularity is fucky so now the summoned are getting fucky side effects' kind of aspect of psychological or body horror.

- WAR/POLITICAL INTRIGUE: GOD. MODS. THE WHOLE NOCWICH EVENT / FALLOUT / RESPONSE WAS SO. GOOD. AHHHHH. but genuinely, I did love the way the exploring new places/people/the map led into Fancy Ball which led into High Stakes Choices and then the consequences of them after. it felt really well paced / intense / interesting, and I loved how the different characters could get involved in different ways. I'm not sure exactly how these things could be done in other situations, but especially if we do more political intrigue stuff, having the set up+event+fall out in a similar way I thought worked really well.

I did love the consequences of destroying libertas, but I also worry about that coming up too often and then it loses its impact. Aka, I think it's a great thing to have on the table, but I don't necessarily need it to happen more often!

one thought - I remember Jolene some months ago had some choices/comments/there was the impression she was doing some more internal political machinations. perhaps it could be fun for there to be ways for more players to get involved in sort of...I don't want to call them resistance groups, necessarily, but places in each faction that may or may not be happy with the way things are going, either?

- FOCUS OF EVENTS: while i do love chaos in every way possible, I like the idea of the events kind of switching back and forth in the focus. Because, depending on the event, I do love the inward-facing focus but also big battles against external forces is the best possible way to get CR/character growth that you wouldn't normally expect to find, and I think there can be some really interesting ways to involve characters of all sorts at a larger scale. big monsters are of course an easy way to do this, but also the faction v faction stuff (especially if the characters didn't realize it was going to be faction v faction and they're forced to fight each other. or with each other.)
