Mid-Event Update

Mid-Event Update
Hello, Abraxans!

Thank you everyone for such an enthusiastic response to the current event. It's been very exciting to see players theorizing and discussing the plot as it unfolds.

We wanted to announce a change regarding the schedule, as well as summarize some important in-game developments that have occurred to help everyone stay coordinated and updated.
Adjusted Event Schedule
Part 2 of the event will be moved back by 1 week to the following:
The OOC Plotting Post will go up March 16th.
The IC Event Log will go up March 18th.
Although this will result in Part 2 taking place in-game about 1 week prior to the actual event logs being posted, we hope it'll give everyone additional time to participate in Part 1.

Reminder that that there will be no main event in April. Instead, we'll have a mini-event that will contain some relation to the outcome of Event 12. It'll also contain some unrelated lighter options for new players and characters to participate in if they wish.
Investigations Deadline
New investigations and major requests will CLOSE on March 10th @ 11:59 PM ET.

This is to let us focus on organizing Part 2 of the event! We'll still answer your questions and any minor requests, so don't worry. You can continue to follow up with us for clarity or to finish off an investigation you're in the middle of, but we won't be providing any new leads or scenarios for characters to explore.

Many of these mysteries can carry over into Part 2, so don't feel like you need to rush to finish anything before then.
Event Developments
To help keep players on the same page, we've outlined some important developments below regarding investigations and the overall plot.

Remember that you can track or watch the Developments comment for both the Lost and the Spared to see what's changed in the world that your character would notice. This includes NPC threads and any open coordination threads posted by players.

Though it might seem like lots has been discovered already, event developments are set to scale based on how many characters take part in which investigation paths, so don't feel as though you're too late to find something important or interesting. We encourage you to keep submitting until the deadline if you're inspired!
General Discoveries
The Lost
◎ 3 of 4 possible shrines have been unlocked. 2 keys remain unused, and one of the shrines was cracked open by an unprecedented phenomenon rather than unlocked with a charm. They've now taken on a renewed appearance with lit candles. One in particular has transformed into a gruesome mace-wielding figure, though the mace has been procured by one of the Lost, leaving behind a pile of entrails. The shrines rattle and whisper.

◎ One Acolyte was unmasked, revealing prongs behind the mask itself while he had eyes the shape of keyholes. He appeared disoriented or blind without his mask. Another Acolyte had a standard mask and showed no disfigurement.

◎ The ceiling creature has been trapped in Week 1 inside a collapsed tunnel. It is unclear at this time if it'll stay trapped or if another of its brethren remains out there. The Bone Serpent makes more frequent appearances since then.

◎ Characters have located something pulsing behind the large boulder unveiled after the ritual. There also appears to be something behind the cracked wall. Both require further investigation.

◎ Some characters have learned the Mysterious Acolyte's name is Hydnellia. Overall, she dislikes being asked about her part in the ritual and is easily frightened. She no longer has anymore charms on her gold chain. It's possible there's a connection between she and the Unknown Stranger.

◎ Items obtained from the shrines include a shroud that shields the wearer from monsters, a crystal with a mysterious swirling mist within, and a mace with a head that beats like a heart attached to a rope of intestine.

◎ Key items open for investigating are outlined below. This doesn't mean these details need to be solved in Part 1 or even at all. Anything unknown will factor into Part 2, and characters can choose to simply leave one aspect alone while they focus on another.

  • Determining what lies behind the cracked wall and the boulder
  • Deciding what to do with the final shrine
  • Discovering the intentions of the Mysterious Acolyte and the Unknown Stranger
The Spared
◎ The emergence of this sigil, first noticed in Thorne's mountains. It's painted in various locations both by the Spared and in the holding area for the Lost on the shrines. The substance used to paint it is thick and black. The precise ingredients or make of it is unknown. Other common elements are desiccated wildlife and withered plant life.

◎ Upon request by one of their Summoned, Solvunn has opened its borders to the Free Cities and Thorne to help investigate in the Tertiary Settlement in particular, due to Josselyn Creed's connection to this incident.

◎ Someone has been providing messages and insight relayed from an unknown source, including lost messages, descriptions of a bizarre monster, and a strange ritual. An unexpected rainstorm also struck the city of Cadens for a period of 2 days.

◎ Characters in Thorne have discovered patches of the forest that's withered, along with desiccated wildlife and displaced marine life. In particular, an ocean creature has been discovered in the fresh waters of Lake Circinus, located east of Nott, while an irrswisch was found wandering. These are normally found in the lowland wetlands.

◎ Characters in Thorne have discovered one of the Creed family, as well as located an area on the coastline over which an illusory spell has been cast. A few are following up on shipments of grain following the unusual rotting lumber discovered in Libertas (see below).

◎ Characters in the Free Cities found evidence of ocean kelp at one of the abduction sites, while rotting wood that smells of putrid flesh was discovered in a shipment of lumber coming from Solvunn.

◎ Characters in the Free Cities have approached a few bandit camps to determine sites where natives, if not the Summoned, have gone missing. They've also used tracking technology to help narrow down where the Lost might be located in conjunction with characters in Thorne.

◎ Characters in Solvunn found evidence of unlabeled potion bottles and a locked door inside Josselyn Creed's home. A pair also discovered that a family used to live near Josselyn's home before they abruptly vanished.

◎ Characters in Solvunn have made sacrificial flesh offerings that resulted in a scrying bowl. Using the bowl comes with a cost. More sacrifices could yield more answers from the Old Gods.

◎ Key items open for investigating are outlined below. This doesn't mean these details need to be solved in Part 1 or even at all. Anything unknown will factor into Part 2, and characters can choose to simply leave one aspect alone while they focus on another.

  • Confirming the location of the Lost
  • Determining how to breach the area once it's found
  • Investigating the full breadth of who is responsible & why

Hey there, mods!

First of all, I want to thank you again for the incredible amount of work you've put into this event. It has been so fun to engage with and I know that it's taking a ton of time and effort on your ends, so I really appreciate how you've facilitated such a great experience.

I did have one question about the updated schedule, which is that I'm curious how the test drive meme will work out. It's set to go up 2 days after the next event log, so I'm wondering how that would work logistically since I imagine TDM characters couldn't really interact with the event itself, which is what most of the game is going to be focused on.

Yes, that makes perfect sense! Thank you for clarifying and even having a few event-adjacent prompts would be great. ♥
