Event #12 - COORDINATION ( 2 )
go to the OOC Plotting Post or IC Event Log

Mod Communications / Randomization
If you have something you want to do related to the event plot, you can communicate and coordinate with us here. This includes NPC meetings, requesting large resources, destroying the environment, or anything else that may require mod permission to proceed. If we can't accommodate a request for any reason, we'll do our best to offer an alternative!
You can also use this section to request a randomized mod roll.

Interactions
Several interactions are available. For Part 2, there are fewer mysteries to uncover, but plenty to interact with to see what happens. You can interact with something as many times as you want, as long as there's a reasonable explanation for your character making their second attempt. Note that interactions might carry IC consequences, though we'll try to telegraph when characters are at high risk of triggering something. To interact, fill out the form, then comment under the corresponding item.
Interact
IC Exchanges
Use this option if you have an interaction you'd like to play out, but setting up a standard IC thread would be impracticable. For example, if your character wants to speak to several people about an event they witnessed together, you might want to do an IC exchange.
Treat this like an informal IC network thread done in person, where character reactions, snippets of dialogue, and other details can be quickly played out and concluded in-game without committing to a full log thread. Exchanges are game canon, and can count towards Activity Check under the category of a Network thread.

THREAD START
[Gideon would be the first to admit that she does all her best thinking with her biceps, so she takes herself just a little by surprise when the sparks between webbing and gross, bulbus growth catch at her attention. She stares at the pulsating mass for a moment, lips twisted in a grimace.]
Ugh. Yuck. Totally gross and bad--
[But she's plunging her hand in anyway, yanking hard at what she finds. Her eyes go wide as the webbing sags, space opening up around it, and instinctively she finds herself letting go. Immediately the webbing ripples closed again. But this is something, right? This is definitely something.]
Hey! Hey, come and look at this!
[Words meant for whoever's closest to her at the time.]

Except there's still the webbing getting in the way. Steve's already looking for some way to tear it apart or maybe even burn it, but then he hears a voice call out and sees Gideon near that pulsing bulb. The one that Henry had sensed before.
He doesn't hesitate, rushing over to her side. She's elbow deep in vines and webbing from the looks of it. The entire cavern shakes again from a distant, massive footstep (that giant thing is still on the move) and Steve braces himself against the wall. ]
What is it?

After dragging what injured natives he could away from the monster's path, he hears Gideon call out, and finds her and Steve next to a glowing, pulsing, organic mass. The ground rattles underfoot, and Cas stumbles his way over, pulling a monkey see monkey do by shoving an arm into the bulb to mimic Gideon.
Rooting around in there, he grabs a vine and tugs at it. The webbing pulls taut, inches back the more he pulls at the vine, until he gives it a hard yank, pulling back as far as it goes, and the webbing splits open once more. Bright eyes find Gideon with incredulous surprise - you're a genius, comrade. ]
Where does it lead?
[ but at this point, does it matter? if it goes anywhere that isn't here, it's an improvement. ]

[She starts as Mister Big Damn Hero rushes over (never mind that she's quietly relieved to see him, a guy who knows how to take charge), but her explanation swiftly falls away as some other dude stumbles over to them. Again there's the sickening squelch as Other Dude's arm sinks into the pulsating globule, and he's quick on the mark, yanking away at the veiny-viney growths until the webbing sags a second time. Gideon follows suit, bracing herself as the ground quakes beneath them and yanks at a fleshy stem until the webbing gapes wider still-- almost enough space for another person to squeeze through.]
Yeah, that.
[She adds, her voice raspy and hard with adrenaline.]
And I dunno, but hopefully somewhere that isn't here.
[From somewhere deeper into the pit, the sound of panicked screams echo back to them, and Gideon's eyes flick fast between the two men a little wildly.]
It's a worth a shot, right?
no subject
This might be it. After some long weeks, Steve is willing to try just about anything. They already unleashed a massive monster, how much worse could it get?
(A lot, is probably the answer, but it's not like there's much time to think.) ]
I'd say so.
[ He nods to Gideon, and with that, his arm joins theirs, pushing past almost muscle-like plant tissue to get his grip around some more of those vines. As he pulls back, the webbing responds in turn, making that opening even wider — large enough for any adult human to run through.
Of course, the second any one of them lets go, that will cease to be the case. Steve eyes both of them with steely eyes; he's already made his decision here, but... ]
We're gonna have to hold it open until everyone else can run through. Are you both okay with that?
[ Maybe they'll find their own way out, but maybe they won't. They can't know in this moment, and he wants to be sure they both understand the stakes and what they're putting on the line here. ]

steve joins in on holding the vines, and the angel nods to him, a clear understanding of what they're agreeing to. castiel's response is quick, the answer seems pretty straight forward to him. if the risk gets even some of them free, it's worth it. ]
Yes. [ resolute, certain. there's no question for him. ] We'll find another way.
[ he doesn't know that for sure, none of them can, but castiel's clearly decided it. There's no point fretting otherwise until they're completely out of options. ]
no subject
(She thinks of Jeannemary and Issac, her efforts and her failure to keep them both safe)
--her hands don't falter on the vines and she gives both men a resolute nod.]
I'm all in.
no subject
Amidst the commotion, she knows this is their best -- possibly only -- chance to push for escape while their captors are distracted. The dizzyingly enormous, lumbering beast has left the wall crumbling, the webbing nakedly visible. When an opening parts, and Ciri realizes why, she delays her plans to just shove through the webbing with some sort of weapon and instead runs to the group of Summoned pulling at the vines. ]
I have an idea!
[ No time for preamble. Ciri wrestles with the pouches on her belt, yanking free a small, dented metal box that Castiel will find familiar. ]
If this blob is what's holding the web up, destroy it.
no subject
Ciri appears out of the chaos not long after that, and Steve eyes the metal box that she's holding, failing to understand its importance for a moment. But whatever it is, it seems like it'll be able to cause some damage and maybe even destroy the bars of this magical cage. ]
Destroy it? [ He pulls one arm out of the bulb to take the box from her, knowing that they can't lose any more time. ] This can do that?
[ What is it, some kind of magical grenade? ]
no subject
[ She glances over at him for confirmation. He's the one who could actually tell what it was, and she's just kept it safe, and dry as possible. ]
I think you just need to ignite it.
But if you're holding back those vines to keep the webbing open, then destroying it should stall the web reforming longer... theoretically. So you can make a run for it.
no subject
It's worth a shot, isn't it? If it blows a big fucking hole through the thing we can get everyone else out faster, too.
no subject
Ideally, we'd wait until everyone else is out, but I don't know how long these will hold. [ either their collective strength is waning or the tension on the vines seems to be growing as the minutes pass, they may not hold long enough for everyone. ]
Put it in place, and go, Ciri.
[ there's not a lot of time left, and Cas won't be responsible for her being left behind. ]
no subject
[ Castiel seems to think so, with how he orders Ciri to move on. Steve has no protest there. If she wants to try and get the hell out of here, she should, and he gives her a firm nod and a brief thanks before turning his attention to the task at hand: not losing his grip on webbing that wants very badly to close in on itself again. ]
If we do this, we need to all get as far back as we can after we light that up that powder.
[ He doubts the fuse is going to be particularly long, and while he's willing to stay back to let others find an escape, he doesn't want the three of them to get blown up in the process. ]
