EVENT #2 OOC PLOTTING POST

EVENT #2 OOC PLOTTING
First things first, there is some important plot information in this thread as well as this one that lead directly into this event. ICly, only the characters involved in these threads actively know this information, so if you want your characters to be aware of it, please reach out to one of the involved players. OOCly, this information leads directly into this event so please be sure to read those threads. Sometime soon we will be making a Story So Far post as well as an NPC directory to keep track of the important plot points and NPCs we've met so far.

In the wake of Ambrose's assault, he has decided that it's about time everyone knows the real reason why they're here. He will gather the honored guests and prisoners outside of Castle Thorne and explain the significance of the Singularity, namely:

  • The Singularity is connected to not only Abraxas but to the newcomers' homeworlds and every other world that exists. (NOTE: This is a belief that is universal throughout Abraxas regardless of faction.)
  • The Singularity is growing unstable and, if its power isn't harnessed and controlled, it will soon begin to have negative and destructive consequences on the multiverse to the tune of many, if not most, worlds being destroyed or twisted into something horrific. (NOTE: As characters will ICly find out once the other factions open up, this belief is unique to Thorne. The other two are equally concerned about the Singularity, but have their own ideas about how to deal with it.)
  • The newcomers are needed because they are the only ones who are able to approach the Singularity and survive. Native inhabitants of Abraxas who get too close are torn apart so fast that they appear to disintegrate.
  • Although he will express his sincere gratitude towards those honored guests and recently released prisoners who have behaved themselves and assisted Thorne, he will impress upon them that they are still guests in this world. They didn't come by choice and their presence is a great boon to Thorne and thus the Thorneans will accommodate their needs and desires as much as possible, but trust must still be earned and they do not have free reign to do as they please without consequence. Loyalty and good work will be rewarded bountifully, but misbehavior will be punished.
  • ...On that note, for the use of excessive and intrusive force against the High Mage of Thorne, Jon Sims has been imprisoned and sentenced to death on charges of high treason, to be carried out in the third week of August.
With that out of the way, Ambrose and a rather large group of military-trained mages will be escorting both guests and prisoners alike to a portal that will take them as close to the Singularity as Abraxas natives can get. Even the honored guests will be highly guarded in this case, although they'll still get nice, polite treatment from the Thorneans. If they try to run (or fly, or teleport) away, a mage will briefly and painlessly restrain them and explain that this excursion is mandatory. Prisoners who try to escape may be roughed up a little more, especially if they have previously caused trouble.

As soon as they emerge from the gate, they will see the Singularity in the distance. It is surrounded for miles by a perfectly circular crater a few feet deep, and none of the mages are willing to approach the boundary of the crater. This, Ambrose will explain, is the line they cannot cross.

Once everyone is out of the portal, all newcomers will feel as if they have been yanked into the crater and towards the singularity by an invisible tether that seems to come from inside of their chest. They will black out as soon as they cross into the Singularity's boundary...and wake up somewhere strange.

Welcome to the Horizon!

The Horizon is a spiritual plane connected to the Singularity, and it is where our second event will be taking place. It appears, initially, as a sprawling and relatively featureless plane with the Singularity (pictured in the mod icon) at its center. All player characters are connected to it, but that connection wasn't awakened until now.

Being pulled into the Horizon for the first time is disorienting, and the process isn't without its flaws. Characters will arrive without their memories of their homeworlds or their time in Abraxas. Their personalities will remain intact, and they will still posses knowledge of things that exist in Abraxas and in their homeworlds, but they won't remember anything about themselves except their names. The one thing they will immediately know about themselves and each other is their arcana, which will be marked somewhere on their clothing regardless of how hard they try to get rid of it. Every character will know about all the signs and what they generally signify, and it'll likely be the first thing they judge each other on without any of those pesky memories in the way.

They'll also find themselves in outfits that in some way reflect their style or personality. Their sign must be visible somewhere on the outfit (in words, as a symbol, or both) but other than that it's completely customizable. Someone who fancies themselves a ruler might be given a grown and a fancy robe, someone who is deeply insecure may have rags, and someone who is secretive and mysterious may be shrouded in a cloak. Feel free to go as wild or as plain as you like with this aspect of the Horizon! This is something that may change in future trips to the Horizon, depending on how your character develops in game.

Once they start to gain their footing inside of the Horizon, characters will find that they can manipulate it to their liking, as if it was a very lucid dream. They can conjure up terrain, buildings, animals, plants, and anything else they want to see. All of it will be tangible while they are in the Horizon, but none of it can be taken back to reality with them. This plane is yours, shape it as you wish! Strong emotions and unconscious desires may also have potentially unwanted effects on the surroundings, however, so be careful.

For as long as characters reside in the Horizon, they won't be looking for an escape (or even remember that there's a world outside of the Horizon at all). Instead, they'll be compelled to shape this plane to their liking and carve out their own domain inside of it. The more of a domain they have the stronger and better they will feel, and having their constructs destroyed or changed into something they dislike will make them feel weak. There is limited space, however (it's a circular plane a few miles in diameter, much like the crater surrounding the Singularity) so there are going to be issues with that. Cooperating with characters that yours has an affinity for and creating things together will have just as much of a positive effect as solo creation, and on the other hand destroying or overwriting what someone else has made if your character isn't particularly fond of them is an option as well. Think of it like a big competitive dreamshare.

For this event, we encourage you to hash out first impressions and initial CR via this plotting post so you can hop right in to something more intense for the event itself. Remember, not only are your characters are starting off with fully-formed personalities and a blank void where their memories and relationships should be, but as far as they know this plane and the other people who occupy it are their entire world; any impression they make on each other is going to be a strong one!

On the 24th of July, the Horizon will begin to fade and characters will regain their memories and return to their physical bodies, scattered about near a camp that Ambrose and the mages set up to wait for their return. They'll feel exactly as they did when they entered the Horizon and won't be sunburnt or dehydrated or starving unless they already were. They will keep all their memories from their time in the Horizon, and will be able to feel their connection to the Singularity (as in, they can sense its location and how far away it is from them) and return to the Horizon and harness its power for other purposes from now on. They will need to be in a state of undisturbed meditation to revisit the Horizon, and future visits will not have the memory loss effect their first visit had. Once they are taught how (staring with a plot in August), they will also be able to tap into the Horizon to travel to another character's location and use it to access the "network".

Upon their return, Ambrose will once again impress the power of the Singularity upon them and appeal to the welcomed guests for their assistance. Everyone will be escorted back to the castle, where the prisoners will be placed back in their cells and the guests will be able to resume their daily lives as they previously were.

All characters who participated in this event can take one alteration: they can gain a new power, modify an existing power, or end up with a physical change of some sort. We're not putting any firm limitations on this save for "keep it reasonable" (no god-tier reality manipulation, time travel, inter-dimensional travel that would break the game setting and so on, and physical changes should be something like horns or claws or an extra foot in height, not becoming a dragon or a hundred feet tall), but the change should ideally reflect something about the character or the time they spent in the Horizon.

COMMENT FORM

(This is optional, but has some suggested topics for this event.)

QUESTIONS

(NOTE: Ambrose's exact words as well as the setting around the Singularity and the conditions the travelers face will be described in greater detail in the event log itself, so please hold any questions about those aspects until then!)

Why do the prisoners get to go?
Thorne has a use in mind for magically charged prisoners (which, due to ethical concerns, they won't be disclosing to anyone). On that note, we'll be looking for a volunteer from the prisoner group sometime after the event, so keep an eye out for that.

If you die in the Horizon do you die in real life?
You can't really die in the Horizon. Anything that would be painful or pleasurable on the physical plane will still be so in the Horizon, but everyone will be able to recover and re-form themselves even if they are torn apart. It's impossible to lose consciousness while in the Horizon, and no one needs to sleep, either.

Can Ambrose and the other NPCs travel to or affect the Horizon?
None of the NPCs we've met so far - and, as far as anyone knows, no one native to Abraxas at all - can access the Horizon, and their magic doesn't affect it, either. They have no way of seeing, knowing, or controlling what goes on there. As far as they can see, the bodies of the newcomers are suspended somewhere between where the Horizon's boundary starts and the Singularity.

Can my character use their own powers in the Horizon?
Technically, all the characters can manifest whatever powers they like there! But yes, if you want to have your character use the powers they have in canon, you can. There are also no restrictions on prisoners using their own or any other powers while they're here.

How long will they be able to revisit the Horizon for?
Forever! The Horizon is now a permanent fixture of the game. As of right now, all characters can do is visit it and they won't be able to use it to affect anything in the real world, but it's a good place to chat and commune.

Can prisoners still visit the Horizon again? Can they use their new power if we give them one?
Prisoners will not have immediate access to their new power; it will be restored sometime in August along with the rest of their powers, if they have any. However, they will be able to access the Horizon right away! As stated in the last question, they can't use the Horizon to escape their cells or anything like that.

How will new characters access the Horizon for the first time?
New characters will come in with a dormant connection to the Horizon, the same as this first group did. In order to gain access they will need to awaken their connection, and this can be done in one of two ways: being taken to the Horizon by a character who can already go there (via physical contact and mutual meditation), OR by making a trek to the Singularity with a group and crossing the boundary into the crater with them. All characters will experience memory loss on their first trip, but can choose how long they end up staying.

Is it mandatory to take some sort of power or physical alteration from the Horizon?
Nope! The only mandatory alteration is the awakened connection to the Singularity. If you don't want the customizable freebie you can pass on taking it. However, note that while there will be other opportunities to alter your character in the future, you won't be able to save this one and claim it at a later date. You'll have to wait for another opportunity. Use it or lose it!

Can the alteration my character gets be something they wouldn't want/something that plays on their insecurities/etc. or would it have to be something they'd like to have?
It can absolutely be something that highlights a negative trait, something their insecure about, or something they'd just dislike. We'd never deny you the opportunity to torment your character!

Do I have to register my character's new power or physical alteration somewhere?
We will ask that you give a brief description of it in this month's Activity Check and we recommend adding it to your Info page so you and others can keep track, but no, you do not have to register it or ask permission otherwise. We do reserve the right to change anything game-breaking so if you feel your choice might fall under that category and are worried about having to retcon, you can ask us. Otherwise, you don't need to ask.

By the way, if you're at a loss for power ideas, we recommend browsing the D&D wiki and picking a spell.

Character Name: peter parker
Sign: strength
Outfit: bruv, what a question. spandex, innit! (or lycra, i suppose, depending on your pov...). still the classic red + blue, but instead of a spider on his chest and back, it'll be the sigil for strength. little booties, gloves, mask — slightly terrifying if you're not used to superheroes 🤷🏼‍♀️, no webbing/illusion of webbing on the suit though.

First Impressions of This Character: peter is generally friendly and approachable, but on the flip side of this, he tends to come across as flippant, a little flighty and easily distracted. also: a bit snarky and absolutely hot-headed, headstrong and independent. despite his generally amicable nature and the fact that he's not opposed to working in a team, he does naturally lean towards being a loner.

Their First Impressions of Others: peter's generally pretty open to giving every one a chance (and a second chance, and a third chance—). this is in spite of the fact that he tends to be quite judgemental (and occasionally quite brutal) in his assessments of others, but he absolutely believes that almost1 everyone is capable of good (or at least, better), so — there wouldn't be anyone he'd be intrinsically opposed to simply on the basis of their sign, but would be less receptive to anyone that's outwardly aggressive and will fight anyone that's being aggressive towards others or, like, attacks his domain. protective, innit?

that said, he does get involved in shit that's not his business and is generally is an obnoxiously nosey parker (oi oi), so he won't shy away from approaching other characters, and has a tendency to gravitate towards looking out for more vulnerable characters.

1 almost

Domain: very good fucking question — we're going full j m straczynski, my friends. new york is obviously very, incredibly important to both peter (and spider-man), so whilst there are going to be limitations with regards to space, his domain will be along the lines of a cityscape (at least in height if not in breadth) not dissimilar to new york, but with a side of totally nonsensical billboards and signs, and way more animal-themed motifs: vultures, scorpions, rhinos, spiders (obvs — many spiders), octopuses and absolutely goblins instead of gargoyles.

General Plans: june ate me alive due to some personal and professional issues that arose, however am totally willing to backdate any threads to before this event in terms of prisoner visiting etc. i don't have any solid plans for the moment — am wide open to anything anyone might want to play out!

Let's introduce these two nosey parkers. Jon's put off by the very existence of spiders, so I'm extra happy to make him visit Peter's New York. Maybe his giant prison is nearby.

So, I'm going full nature boy for Ezra's domain, BUT Ezra was actually born and lived his early life in the capital city of his world and it's pretty important to him, too.

Close enough neighbors that Ezra is intrigued and wanders through sometimes makes lots of sense?

okay okay so I'm down for anything and would love for some Sam and Peter Times but do we possibly want to do something with regards to the like. potential for city crossover? like perhaps the borders of their domain sort of overlap? IF ONLY CAUSE sam's nameless city to protect could easily be New York so there could be some fun there.

OR we could have them run into each other while "crime fighting"? maybe??? EITHER WAY I THINK THIS COULD BE. fun for them to blank slate a bit. c:

Character Name: Homelander // for this event he'll call himself John
Sign: Judgement
Outfit:He'll be wearing his uniform without the cape. Red, white and blue, and skintight. His arcana stitched in to it on the left side of his chest.

First Impressions of This Character: Homelander never really got over growing up, alone, lonely and held at a distance, in the lab. He will come across as emotionally stunted and immature. He will have mood-swings, violent ones. He'll rage at the unfairness of other people touching his stuff and he will laugh as if he has no care in the world when he gets his way.

Their First Impressions of Others: Homelander will gravitate towards people who have big parent-energy. He's never had a parent, and in canon Vought and its president took the place of his absent father-figure, while Madelyn was some amalgam of mother-figure and lover. It's a bit messed up, but that's the people and places he would seek out. People who have patience and people who lets him have his way.

Domain: An all-american boy's room. Model-airplanes and a bed pushed underneath a window. A bed-spread with the sigil of Judgement of it, in red, white and blue. With sport trophies on shelves and a baseball glove resting on his desk. Posters of baseball all-stars on the wall. Outside the room, will be a huge field with a baseball stadium. The stands filled with faceless spectators as he plays game after game against the faceless away-team. His own team winning, but only because Homelander scores a homerun. Faceless parental figures is seated close to the home plate, with little flags saying - 'Go, John, Go' and 'We're proud of you'.

On repeat.

General Plans: Getting Homelander out of his comfort zone? Is that a plan? He is going to hate having to leave the Horizon, and will go there often. People he might like in Horizon but hate once they're back in Thorne.

Beanix has very chill dad energy and will be drawn to this space that seems to belong to a sad kid. He's generally pretty patient, but will get cross if he sees Homelander being nasty to other people.

How does Homelander feel about a hobo dad wandering in and admiring his space?

stephen strange, mcu . the high priestess

[personal profile] rehandle 2021-07-08 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Name: Stephen Strange
Sign: The High Priestess
Outfit: Inside of his domain he'll be sloping around in this with this shirt as his sign indicator. Subtle. If he leaves his domain he'll change into something a little more dramatic (white writing replaced with various symbols indicative of the high priestess sign). To his credit, he's still groomed to his usual standards.

First Impressions of This Character: In his domain he'll be somewhat distant, unapproachable in a 'had a very bad week, what are you doing in my swamp' sense. Giving off big hermit vibes. If he lets you in voluntarily or you get past the initial grouch, he's sharp and sarcastic with a muffling layer of exhaustion, and an underlying drive to be kind where he can even if he doesn't seem to want to. Out and about he'll carry a certain level of assertive professionalism backed up by a bad bedside manner. Seems like somebody who always knows what he's talking about and doesn't necessarily have the patience to explain it to you.

Their First Impressions of Others: He has absolutely no patience for villainy so anybody actively looking to do harm to others will be faced with an immediate adversary. He'll fight you if he has to, will probably pull some tricksy shit rather than having to do major harm. Anybody who looks like they're having a bad time he'll be compelled to help (see: a helpless fool), any situations that seem Bad he'll be compelled to insert himself into, but aside from that he'll be determinedly attempting to play the brooding loner for this round irrespective of other peoples' vibe. I'll figure out sign preferences etc as I go, so please do lmk your character's sign if you want to play so I can look into it and see how it might influence his impression!

Domain: He's going to set up shop in Peter Parker's New York, where he'll morph one of the buildings into a 15-20 storey behemoth version of this building, where the big round window at the top will have a high priestess symbol for flavour. One of the upper floors will present as a sparse, wonderfully depressing penthouse loft apartment where he'll spend the majority of his indoor time, and the roof will have an incongruent but tranquil rendition of this.

The rest of the building will be stuffed with every book he's ever read and every song he's ever listened to (in vinyl form), the rest of the space padded out with books written in languages that don't exist and records that play different sounds and made up tunes and silence. Otherwise the vibe is very 'is this a residence, a museum, a university or a fancy hotel', though anyone who enters uninvited and doesn't get Stephen's instinctive blessing on crossing the threshold may find themselves having to contend with corridors that don't really abide by the laws of physics. Or any laws at all, actually.

General Plans: Stephen's going to spend a little bit of the event having a wander around the Horizon before he arrives in Peter's new york and puts down roots and then he's going to spend the rest of the event equal parts moping in his barren apartment at the top of his beautiful behemoth of a building, resting in the terrace courtyard, staring out over whatever parts of the horizon he can see from his vantage point and swanning off to go and stick his nose in where it isn't invited when he sees something he doesn't like. He may also go for the occasional nosy stroll around the horizon after setting up his domain.

Overall there will be plenty of opportunity for either bumping into him in the wilds, having him zoom in because he's spotted your character either in danger or being an arse, or visiting him in his weird house for inception style adventures or hangouts in his concrete moping box/lovely rooftop courtyard. Game to make anything work!

Jon Snow | The Emperor

[personal profile] song_of_ice 2021-07-08 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Name: Jon Snow
Sign: The Emperor
Outfit: This was a bit of a hard one to think of, given that Jon doesn't see himself as anything special and his bastard status can be demoralizing. Then I realized, well, obviously he is going to be in a lot of furs because he's the White Wolf. So, Jon's outfit is going to reflect his inner wolf. It's reminiscent of what he wore beyond the Wall while in the Night's Watch, but it's all white with a hood that can cover his head. The Emperor symbol looks like it has been sewn on with thick thread.

First Impressions of This Character: He seems a bit grumpy at first, reserved and quiet. He watches people, observes them and reflects inwardly on what he sees. He's very wolfish. There's no apparent brooding this go around (why would he, he doesn't know he's a bastard or he died). He's just gathering his bearings and watching for potential threats.

Their First Impressions of Others: Anyone who can make him drop his guard and laugh will have an instant rapport with him. He's not so naive at this point, so he's less easy to take advantage of. Genuinely kind people also earn his notice. He's a sucker for beauty as well.

Domain: He's basically set up a Wildling camp with furs and tents, bone decorations and snow. Lots and lots of snow. He won't know why, but he conjured up a giant white wolf. If you're nice to Jon, he's the goodest boy you'll ever meet, but if you're a threat, he isn't too pleasant to be around.

General Plans: So far just exploring and getting to know people as well. This is Jon's chance to enjoy himself without the burdens of his world.

eddie kaspbrak | it (the lovers)

[personal profile] casts 2021-07-08 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Name: Eddie Kaspbrak
Sign: The Lovers
Outfit: Just something simple and pretty familiar of Earth fashion in the late 80s and early 90s. Perhaps the biggest change is instead of LOSVER being written on his cast, it'll be the symbol of his sign decorating it.

First Impressions of This Character: Without the demanding presence of his mother having dominated his life and personality, Eddie is your typical curious teenager. He'll ask questions, listen with interest and be completely taken in with anything new that he might come across. Needless to say he will be exploring relentlessly and probably getting into shit that he shouldn't be getting into though anyone sensitive to dark presences might notice there's something seemingly lingering over him, sticking to him like a shadow perhaps... perhaps you'll even notice that his shadow doesn't always reflect his own form.

Their First Impressions of Others: Eddie will definitely gravitate toward people that give off those Big Sibling vibes or even just general leadership qualities. He'll also like and properly hit it off well with other people that are curious and like exploration of the unknown. Without Derry's influence lingering in his bones, he won't be so untrustworthy of adults right off the bat and might even gravitate toward them especially those that entertain his hunger for knowledge.

Domain: Wow. It's definitely a small town pharmacy complete with creepy basement. There seems to be much more to his domain but that shadow of something that seems to blanket him and live in his shadow? It's even more noticeable once you're out of bounds of what he considers his "safety".

General Plans: I've been fighting an illness that punched the shit out of me in June but I'm here for handwaved CR and any crossing of paths that might have happened between Eddie and other characters. I don't have any plans set in stone so I am here and wide open to ideas! Mostly I'm just excited in exploring Eddie's personality and habits without his mother's (or Derry's) sphere of influence even though he can't shake off everything that has come through his life.

mal oretsev | strength

[personal profile] inthemeadow 2021-07-08 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Name: Mal Oretsev
Sign: Strength
Outfit: I'm not gonna focus on this aspect too much and just put him in a plain, comfortable outfit of neutral colours that doesn't particularly stand out (he's a simple boy of simple tastes...)

First Impressions of This Character: I think once you strip away Mal's memories of being a soldier, the loss of his parents/friends, having to be fearless to survive - he's just a Soft Nature Boy. Compared to how he's been feeling in Thorne (angry, frustrated, sullen) he might actually be in a happy mood in the Horizon! He might also come across as shy at first, like he's used to being alone, but he'll be friendly enough, he just won't necessarily be the first to approach someone and let them come to him instead. He will feel like something's missing (his best friend beside him) so he might like act something is off but can't figure out what?

Their First Impressions of Others: Anyone who acts like an asshole is probably going to rub him off the wrong way since that's the total opposite of his personality. He'll definitely lean towards exploring/outdoorsy types. He might also gravitate towards other Strengths just to better understand why his sign is that, but I don't think he'd judge anyone's sign before getting to know them first.

Domain: He will definitely be building a meadow, his safe space when he was younger, which he might choose to hide in. I also want him to embrace his playful side by creating a lagoon area for swimming and diving from the top of the waterfall for fun. He'll invite people to join him because he's all about sharing.

General Plans: These aren't so much as plans as they are ideas:
-set fire to Mal's meadow or just destroy it somehow and watch him cry
-almost step on him hiding in the meadow because what the fuck, why are you just lying there
-water fights, diving competitions, who can hold their breath underwater the longest, etc
-I'm tempted to put animals in the meadow too and if anyone decided to hunt one of them........ insert Sad Nature Boy.

sam wilson, mcu | justice

[personal profile] falcony 2021-07-08 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Name: sam wilson
Sign: justice
Outfit: Sam is going to end up shifting between something comfortable/casual like this, this and this, or - again, depending on the situation - it may even be his Captain America suit, with the Justice Symbol either on the tshirt he's wearing or on the front of his suit. There will be a kind of seamless shift between these outfits for him, so there's a chance he may be in various stages of either (shirts and sweatshirts with the uniform pants and boots, wearing the shield with his casual clothes, wearing the uniform but without the headpiece, etc.)

First Impressions of This Character: Friendly and approachable, definitely. Depending on if it's at his home or in a nameless city, you'll get the two flavors. At home, he's going to be open and relaxed, laughing, friendly, approachable, fun to be around, but with the kind of comfortable leadership of someone in his element. This is his home, and you are welcome to it, but you can tell that it's his. You are a member of this family, now, and you will be treated with the love, respect, attention, and care of that happy family. Trust, warmth, safety, etc.

While a version of his 'Captain America', he will still be approachable, but with the kind of power and importance of a leader, of a captain, of a hero who knows what he's doing and even if he doesn't, is there to help. It's got a kind of inspirational air to it, too. Almost the kind of feeling you get when really inspirational music starts playing in the background.

Their First Impressions of Others: the signs aren't going to really change how Sam views others. He may be more friendly or more serious, depending on the impression the character gives off, but as far as he's concerned he's here to help everyone, regardless of their sign. He will also assume friendly until proven otherwise, no matter if gruff or sullen or quiet. However! If! We want to do something more antogonistic/negative cr, I am also open for that, and we can do some fighting/chasing down/opposing interests in the city-scape.

Domain: Sam's domain is likely to shift between two locations, or merge in a kind of combination of the two places. Specifically, you'll get something like his home in Lousiana, a large, warm, comfortable house right on the water with a dock and boat off to the side. It will be spring, so nice but with a kind of promise of summer heat, with the sounds of nature all around. It will look like this, this, and this, though the family photos and specifics to people will adjust to whoever is there. The secondary "place" will be a city - indistinct, with features from almost any major city in the world. It will be a neighborhood somewhere in it, and there will be a feeling of danger and fear.

THIS COULD BE FUN BECAUSE the city aspect can also very easily impose itself into other people's domains without Sam really realizing it. So if we want to play with the "captain needs to save people" crossing over into someone else's domain space, I could be totally down for that too!!!

General Plans: I don't have too too many specifics, but I would love to build up some more close relationships. People Sam will see as family, etc and who he is going to be motivated to help protect. As well as potential allies/people he can fight alongside/etc. I know I have a bunch of cr I'd like to start building too, so if we've made plans I am very excited to find something to work.

zelda schiff ► the magicians ► the magician

[personal profile] arhivista 2021-07-08 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Name: zelda schiff
Sign: the magician
Outfit: zelda has quite a relaxed manner and style to her, if a little proper and uptight. it'll come out in a slightly more vintage suit and skirt rather than anything she'd typically wear.

First Impressions of This Character: zelda is friendly and approachable! she's sweet, curious, proper, though she could also be thought of as a little naive and overly trusting

Their First Impressions of Others: other characters that are curious and friendly will be good. she'll also be friendly with other magicians for pooling what they know and can learn. unless someone's overly rude she'll probably be open to all signs to begin with

Domain: zelda likes things that are ordered but rather than her typical library type of thing i'm thinking something more open? an open field with small, simple structures that are organised and ordered? (eventually she might shift towards more of a library but not on visit one)

General Plans: i'm so very open! meeting more characters, developing initial meetings further. especially without any pesky memories???

kirigan / the darkling, death;

[personal profile] sankt 2021-07-08 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Name: Kirigan / The Darkling
Sign: Death
Outfit: All black and very mysterious indeed. The clasp of his cloak will be Death's sigil interpreted in Rakvan style.

First Impressions of This Character: Maybe not as unfriendly as he looks. At a distance it will be hard to tell if he's actively scowling or just concentrating. Even-tempered with a current of longing (greed) or anxiety (jealousy) beneath. May accept help if offered. If his domain is threatened, he will become hostile.

Their First Impressions of Others: Though disinclined to trust anyone regardless of their sign, he will be hospitable to most, especially those signs characterized by loyalty, protection, and sympathy for outcasts. Will be especially wary of signs associated with authority, order, and moral values.

Domain: A fortress wall around the perimeter of the Horizon. Yes, the entire thing. It's still under construction, and in the process of building this he will destroy parts of any other domain that meet the perimeter directly, though the land immediately around the wall will not be disturbed once it has been built. (For now.) The wall itself is a grim, imposing structure built of an unusually dense stone resembling obsidian, roughly 3 m (10 ft) thick and 9 m (30 ft) high, and fortified with evenly spaced towers. He will be compelled to repair and improve the fortifications obsessively.

The wall will be patrolled by friends. :)

General Plans: Just noodling around. Come see some weird shadow things.

Flagg won't take down the part of the fortress that's going through his territory...but everything in his domain is just kind of passively decaying/rotting/crumbling so don't be surprised if that part of the wall looks like it's been abandoned for a thousand years after a day or two...sorry bud!

He would love to take a look at some weird shadow friends, though.

Bucky Barnes | MCU

[personal profile] restoral 2021-07-08 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Name: Bucky Barnes
Sign: Strength
Outfit: Bucky's WW2 era howling commandos outfit but with the Strength emblem on the biceps. He may also be seen in generic WW2 army fatigues with the strength symbol in place of the American flag.

First Impressions of This Character: Some of Bucky's general stiffness will be looser without his memories. He's a man who likes to help people and do the right thing and while he'll never go looking for a fight, he won't run from one if he sees it. He'll be very much the sniper he was during World War 2, looking to get to high ground when he can, whether it's a building or a cliffside, and trying to look out for trouble. If he sees anyone in need, he'll be helpful and his friendliness will be a little warmer than it had been outside the singularity.

Their First Impressions of Others: As a soldier, he'll look for other people who read as military to ally himself with. He'll also see people who appear less combat-inclined as people he should help. He won't view anyone as an enemy unless they give him a reason to, but any domains that feel war-like or dangerous may set him more on edge for meeting new faces.

Domain: Bucky will be sharing some space with Sam in the form of a nameless city space with a feeling of danger.

Nearby that (likely right at the edge, depending on how things reshape), there will be a single solitary Brooklyn tenement building. Five stories tall and with a small apartment designed to Bucky's memories on the top floor. The rest of the building is empty apartments that he doesn't go into and people are welcome to add to. There is open roof access and a sniper setup is up there. Everything about this building is an odd mix of time periods, with the basic aesthetic and building feeling pre-WW2 but there also being modern technological aspects up to contemporary time such as a flat screen TV and camera doorbell.

There will also be a handful of trenches around, likely slid between things or in small slips of unused space. They are small and miss-able, but full of WW2 era shell casings and the rare unused grenade or ammo.

General Plans: I'm just happy to jump into some new cr with this and build on existing stuff. Bucky isn't afraid of going into the singularity, but he will be worried about others ahead of time, especially if they seem scared of going in, so I'm definitely down for playing with that stuff, too, if anyone's character would be afraid or resistant to the whole thing.

I just realized I completely forgot to link you to Mal's prison log for a first meeting but now I've read your plotting comment, I think we could do something with this event instead!

So Mal doesn't remember anything about being a soldier but I feel like him being around the WW2 elements of Bucky's domain might feel familiar to him? Maybe Bucky can catch him handling some ammo or something like that?

Lloyd Henreid || The Stand

[personal profile] jealousbitch 2021-07-09 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Character Name: Lloyd Henreid
Sign: The Lovers
Outfit: this little number with the arcana embroidered on the back of his shirt

First Impressions of This Character: Very laid-back and cheerful disposition, though spending any time with him will show that he's more of a follower than a leader. He doesn't really like being alone, so getting people to stay and chill will probably be his m.o. He'll be less concerned with growing his domain and more with who is in it.

Their First Impressions of Others: Lloyd is drawn to someone who will take control or exudes an air of leadership. Flattery is always a weakness, but make him feel special and he'll crumble like a cookie. He'll be amiable with people he shares his sign with, though he mostly won't really care. He's likely to be wary of Towers at first, but hey. He's weak to sweet words.

Domain: A very scaled-down version of Las Vegas, no more than a few city blocks. Only instead of thriving and brightly lit, it looks as if it's been left abandoned for decades. Think abandoned theme park, but Las Vegas. There aren't any humans around, but there are quite a lot of rabbits darting around that seem to be made of shadow and have glowing pink light where the eyes should be. They can't be caught, darting away to the nearest hiding place with a squeal anytime someone gets near them. Maybe you're imagining them!

General Plans: it sounds really basic, but I'm game for anything! I don't really have solid plans because I don't know what I want. All the things? Yeah that sounds good.

if lloyd gives off the sense that he's a bit of a lost soul, geralt would be inclined to stick around because, without his memories, his natural inclination to help people will not be colored by his past experiences.

i'd be interested to have their first meeting be a blank slate! especially since he's meeting nadine for the first time the same way.

Himeka Sui | Final Fantasy XIV

[personal profile] aquaveiled 2021-07-09 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
Character Name: Himeka Sui
Sign: The Fool
Outfit: She will be wearing a long gray robe that occasionally has the hood up. The sigil for the Fool is on the upper back of the cloak. She may also be wearing a mask that covers half of her face, but in black. When the hood is down she is noticeably missing her scales, horns, and trademark red hair.

First Impressions of This Character: Friendly and approachable, though at times may seem a little like her head is off in the clouds, she is insatiably curious. She sees herself mostly there to observe and experience. She is a wanderer and is not seen in the same place for very long, but is not only possible but likely that she has passed you by at some point.

Their First Impressions of Others: Everyone starts out as neutral until she can meet someone/explore their domain and make a decision on her own. There is really no one she won't be interested in, though I can see her being particularly drawn to High Priestesses, Emperors, Hanged Men (Mans??), and Towers as they all have traits that she admires. In general she just wants to meet people and see how they live and how they shape their domains. She may be particularly taken by any domains with any sort of water or ocean theme.

In general she is very amicable to taking on any sort of small fetch quests to assist people with shaping their domains or...well, really anything. If they ask they shall receive.

Domain: Himeka's domain is not permanent...since she is a traveler it travels with her. It takes the form of a large blue crystal that slowly rotates in place with two rings that orbit it in the opposite direction. When she is on the move the crystal simply rotates and floats behind her and she can have it set in place by command.

When it is set, however, it will begin to glow and a bubble dome will form around it, encompassing an area of about 20 meters in diameter. Inside this dome can take shape to any number of places that she has travelled, though she may not yet remember them all in Horizon. However, what is most commonly seen is...

A magical dome that appears to be deep under the sea, with sand underneath and long winding branches of coral growing up around it.

A rounded landing of stone looking across the gothic architecture of a city at night in the snow.

A grassy courtyard inside of a glass dome with everpresent light shining down.

Since it travels with her, inevitably she may set up camp inside other people's domain's for a night...or longer!

General Plans: Such a great opportunity for CR! Himeka is going to be wandering around. Really, I would like to say she could have touched on everyone's domains at some point whether she is welcomed into them or not. She wants to see and explore so I will definitely be hitting up top-levels and getting into people's business.

She has no interest in permanently encroaching on other people's domains and will generally stay neutral in conflicts between them...unless one is at risk of destruction! Then she will step in and help defend without a second thought.

She also has an open log right here for anyone who wants some pre-event clues to Anastasia and the mages.

You're totally welcome to say Himeka has been by Geralt's domain, and since she's friendly and considerate he probably wouldn't mind her coming around. He's open to exchanging goods with her if that's something she'd be interested in.

The only oddity about his place is the occasional appearance of a shadow child.

stealsthetruth: (You like krabby patties don't you squidw)

Kay Faraday | Ace Attorney

[personal profile] stealsthetruth 2021-07-09 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Name: Kay Faraday
Sign: The Fool
Outfit: Planning outfits is NOT my forte, but luckily enough Kay's canon outfit is 1) Extremely different from what she has been wearing in the game and 2) kind of already perfect for her anyway? So in the Horizon she'll be wearing something very similar to this (at least colors-wise); lots of pinks/dark blues with the occasional white accent, the big key in her hair, fabrics with the Karakusa pattern. The actual structure of the clothes themselves is tweaked to look a lot more... Peak anime, "phantom thief" style, I guess? And she'll be wearing a beaked crow mask that she can flip up and down over the top half of her face... Yk, despite the futility of anonymity (she just feels it looks cool.)

First Impressions of This Character:
This is going to vary depending on what point in the event you cross paths with her. When she first awakens and starts trying to establish her identity here, she's going to be very quiet and uncertain in a way that (using OOC as a point of reference here) is completely at odds with her usual demeanor. IC, it probably seems like she doesn't match her assigned arcana at all.

As she regains her footing and becomes more comfortable with altering her surroundings, she will quickly start to gain confidence, until her true personality shines through again. At that point she is basically going to become mischief incarnate. If your character has met her on the physical plane and thought she was intolerably energetic and peppy there, they're going to have an even worse of her impression here, because with no social or physical limitations Kay just has no respect for anyone and is 100% here to just pal around and have as much fun as possible.

Their First Impressions of Others:
Kay is super friendly and willing to give almost anyone a chance, but there are a few signs that she'll be more drawn to (albeit in different ways). She will readily vibe with other Fools and Suns, and will likely see Chariots as potentially fun playmates for friendly competition. On the other hand, signs with reputations for being more responsible, "uptight", or antisocial, ie Emperors, Hermits, Justice... Prepare to be pestered and teased relentlessly, in a fond way.

She's going to be initially much more suspicious of anyone with the Judgement sign, due to a deep seated mistrust of big charismatic leader types.

Domain: I'm not sure about the specifics just yet but I can at least guarantee that Kay's domain will be highly chaotic in nature and will shift around often, and this is exactly how she likes it. She tweaks it on the slightest whim and revels in the fluidity of the place. Also she loves pranks and practical jokes, so expect comical booby traps, probably.

Most likely she's going to wind up turning it into some kind of ninja mansion like in the Koga episode of the original Pokemon anime :'T

General Plans:
We actually have canon precedent for how amnesiac Kay behaves, but I'm diverging a bit from that because the circumstances around the memory loss are rather different here. Kay is a person who is heavily defined by her relationships to other people, so in canon when she loses her memories she becomes almost a completely different person... This is the basis for how she'll be starting out the event (see: First Impressions section), and it's a rare opportunity to catch her more vulnerable side, since she so often masks her insecurities with perpetual cheeriness. This will only be available for a limited time early on though, so if you're interested in having your character interact with her at this formative point do let me know!

Once she starts getting comfortable she is going to become much more gregarious and will be going around just generally making herself a nuisance. She might try to alter other people's constructs at first before she realizes how bad it makes other people feel, after which she'll be much less likely to do it.

Basically what I'm hoping to get out of this is for a handful of people to get to see her less confident "inner self", and then for her to really push people's buttons once she starts getting her footing back. Negative CR is welcome for this! People who are rude or mean to her without provocation can expect grudges to be held for the rest of the event, though she's likely to be more forgiving once the event is over and she understands the circumstances. Memory loss is a get out of jail free card once everyone is awake and back in the physical plane again, but while they're all still in the Horizon she's not likely to pull any punches.

michael ralston | original

[personal profile] brittlest 2021-07-11 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Name: Michael Ralston
Sign: Death
Outfit: Ye olde Regency-era fashion choices, marred by a certain rumpled and worn air of 'Recently exhumed from a coffin' or maybe 'Lately fished out of a ditch.' Dark colors disguise some of the wear and tear, but the threadbare and fraying quality is easily noted up close. Blink-and-you'll-miss-it death arcana patterned waistcoat is subtle; the cane with a handle shaped like a dog's skull is not.

First Impressions of This Character: A smug motherfucker. Quick, with mean-spirited good humor, Ralston has the Mean Girl air of someone used to being the center of attention regardless of his bad behavior. Relentlessly curious, ravenously eager to interrogate— I mean engage in some light philosophical debate with anyone who strays into his domain, and in general tries very hard to engage other people even if he's rude about it. No, he's not lonely; how dare you for even considering the possibility.

Their First Impressions of Others: Drawn to people who will put up with or enable his particular sense of humor. This could mean someone who is easy to pick on, or characters who will gossip with him, or someone too nice to tell him to fuck off. He's also a great fan of Battle of Wit-type conversations, so anyone who he feels is sufficiently challenging is likely to find themselves a conversational rival. Will be wary of anyone who bears signs associated with authority and tradition, and chafes against personalities who either very serious or especially patronizing (despite or maybe because of occasionally being both of those things himself).

Domain: A tiered indoor room resembling an anatomical ampitheater (1, 2). The room has no windows, and no entrances or exits save for a free-standing door on the lowest level of the theater which stands in the place where a surgical table might in your usual over-the-top operating theater.

This single door temporarily connects to other doors and doorways all over Horizon. If a character means to walk through the front door of a house-shaped domain or through an archway of trees in a nature-themed domain, they might instead find themselves passing through into this place instead of where they meant to be. Leaving Ralston's domain is similarly disconnected from the 'reality' of Horizon: the door can lead anywhere, and doesn't necessarily have to lead back to the same place that characters came from.

Getting to Ralston's domain on accident is easier than finding your way their on purpose, but the will of the character traveling through the door in either direction can affect the destination (i.e. if someone REALLY wants to make a house call to Ralston, they'll be able to; and if they REALLY want to go to the beach when they leave his domain, the door will oblige them). Makes Ralston's domain a great fast travel system in Horizon, so long as you're willing to put up with abrasive commentary from the peanut gallery.

General Plans: In Horizon, Ralston is going to have full access to magic in a way he can't access outside of it. I'd really like to play around with establishing CR with Ralston as a person who can do weird inter-dimensional and precognition type magic (limited to within Horizon; he won't be able to "see" outside of it either now during the memory less event or later when Horizon is more of a fixture) so later we can mess around with either over- or underestimating his capabilities in the every day world of Abraxas.

Otherwise - I have a hard time with small talk threads, but LOVE plotting, planning and general intrigue type things. I'm interested in establishing CR with characters Ralston might not usually talk to, but I'm especially into the idea of bashing out some quick threads so we have a jumping off point for close CR post-event when memory loss effects have faded. Ralston in the "normal" world can be a hard nut to crack, and I'd like to use this opportunity to kind of speed run past when and where possible (or at least give characters some tools to get past the barriers he usually walks around with).
photophobic: (Default)

[personal profile] photophobic 2021-07-12 04:24 am (UTC)(link)

"light" philosophical debate with people who wander into his domain because he's not at all lonely you say!!

I'd definitely be up for messing around with Ralston's weird magics and getting the impression that he's quite the Contender just in time for being very surprised on meeting him back in the mundane. Kylo would be intrigued by his story so if you're looking for someone who'd be interested in putting in the work to pull that out, I think Kylo could be a candidate...
