EVENT #2 OOC PLOTTING POST

EVENT #2 OOC PLOTTING
First things first, there is some important plot information in this thread as well as this one that lead directly into this event. ICly, only the characters involved in these threads actively know this information, so if you want your characters to be aware of it, please reach out to one of the involved players. OOCly, this information leads directly into this event so please be sure to read those threads. Sometime soon we will be making a Story So Far post as well as an NPC directory to keep track of the important plot points and NPCs we've met so far.

In the wake of Ambrose's assault, he has decided that it's about time everyone knows the real reason why they're here. He will gather the honored guests and prisoners outside of Castle Thorne and explain the significance of the Singularity, namely:

  • The Singularity is connected to not only Abraxas but to the newcomers' homeworlds and every other world that exists. (NOTE: This is a belief that is universal throughout Abraxas regardless of faction.)
  • The Singularity is growing unstable and, if its power isn't harnessed and controlled, it will soon begin to have negative and destructive consequences on the multiverse to the tune of many, if not most, worlds being destroyed or twisted into something horrific. (NOTE: As characters will ICly find out once the other factions open up, this belief is unique to Thorne. The other two are equally concerned about the Singularity, but have their own ideas about how to deal with it.)
  • The newcomers are needed because they are the only ones who are able to approach the Singularity and survive. Native inhabitants of Abraxas who get too close are torn apart so fast that they appear to disintegrate.
  • Although he will express his sincere gratitude towards those honored guests and recently released prisoners who have behaved themselves and assisted Thorne, he will impress upon them that they are still guests in this world. They didn't come by choice and their presence is a great boon to Thorne and thus the Thorneans will accommodate their needs and desires as much as possible, but trust must still be earned and they do not have free reign to do as they please without consequence. Loyalty and good work will be rewarded bountifully, but misbehavior will be punished.
  • ...On that note, for the use of excessive and intrusive force against the High Mage of Thorne, Jon Sims has been imprisoned and sentenced to death on charges of high treason, to be carried out in the third week of August.
With that out of the way, Ambrose and a rather large group of military-trained mages will be escorting both guests and prisoners alike to a portal that will take them as close to the Singularity as Abraxas natives can get. Even the honored guests will be highly guarded in this case, although they'll still get nice, polite treatment from the Thorneans. If they try to run (or fly, or teleport) away, a mage will briefly and painlessly restrain them and explain that this excursion is mandatory. Prisoners who try to escape may be roughed up a little more, especially if they have previously caused trouble.

As soon as they emerge from the gate, they will see the Singularity in the distance. It is surrounded for miles by a perfectly circular crater a few feet deep, and none of the mages are willing to approach the boundary of the crater. This, Ambrose will explain, is the line they cannot cross.

Once everyone is out of the portal, all newcomers will feel as if they have been yanked into the crater and towards the singularity by an invisible tether that seems to come from inside of their chest. They will black out as soon as they cross into the Singularity's boundary...and wake up somewhere strange.

Welcome to the Horizon!

The Horizon is a spiritual plane connected to the Singularity, and it is where our second event will be taking place. It appears, initially, as a sprawling and relatively featureless plane with the Singularity (pictured in the mod icon) at its center. All player characters are connected to it, but that connection wasn't awakened until now.

Being pulled into the Horizon for the first time is disorienting, and the process isn't without its flaws. Characters will arrive without their memories of their homeworlds or their time in Abraxas. Their personalities will remain intact, and they will still posses knowledge of things that exist in Abraxas and in their homeworlds, but they won't remember anything about themselves except their names. The one thing they will immediately know about themselves and each other is their arcana, which will be marked somewhere on their clothing regardless of how hard they try to get rid of it. Every character will know about all the signs and what they generally signify, and it'll likely be the first thing they judge each other on without any of those pesky memories in the way.

They'll also find themselves in outfits that in some way reflect their style or personality. Their sign must be visible somewhere on the outfit (in words, as a symbol, or both) but other than that it's completely customizable. Someone who fancies themselves a ruler might be given a grown and a fancy robe, someone who is deeply insecure may have rags, and someone who is secretive and mysterious may be shrouded in a cloak. Feel free to go as wild or as plain as you like with this aspect of the Horizon! This is something that may change in future trips to the Horizon, depending on how your character develops in game.

Once they start to gain their footing inside of the Horizon, characters will find that they can manipulate it to their liking, as if it was a very lucid dream. They can conjure up terrain, buildings, animals, plants, and anything else they want to see. All of it will be tangible while they are in the Horizon, but none of it can be taken back to reality with them. This plane is yours, shape it as you wish! Strong emotions and unconscious desires may also have potentially unwanted effects on the surroundings, however, so be careful.

For as long as characters reside in the Horizon, they won't be looking for an escape (or even remember that there's a world outside of the Horizon at all). Instead, they'll be compelled to shape this plane to their liking and carve out their own domain inside of it. The more of a domain they have the stronger and better they will feel, and having their constructs destroyed or changed into something they dislike will make them feel weak. There is limited space, however (it's a circular plane a few miles in diameter, much like the crater surrounding the Singularity) so there are going to be issues with that. Cooperating with characters that yours has an affinity for and creating things together will have just as much of a positive effect as solo creation, and on the other hand destroying or overwriting what someone else has made if your character isn't particularly fond of them is an option as well. Think of it like a big competitive dreamshare.

For this event, we encourage you to hash out first impressions and initial CR via this plotting post so you can hop right in to something more intense for the event itself. Remember, not only are your characters are starting off with fully-formed personalities and a blank void where their memories and relationships should be, but as far as they know this plane and the other people who occupy it are their entire world; any impression they make on each other is going to be a strong one!

On the 24th of July, the Horizon will begin to fade and characters will regain their memories and return to their physical bodies, scattered about near a camp that Ambrose and the mages set up to wait for their return. They'll feel exactly as they did when they entered the Horizon and won't be sunburnt or dehydrated or starving unless they already were. They will keep all their memories from their time in the Horizon, and will be able to feel their connection to the Singularity (as in, they can sense its location and how far away it is from them) and return to the Horizon and harness its power for other purposes from now on. They will need to be in a state of undisturbed meditation to revisit the Horizon, and future visits will not have the memory loss effect their first visit had. Once they are taught how (staring with a plot in August), they will also be able to tap into the Horizon to travel to another character's location and use it to access the "network".

Upon their return, Ambrose will once again impress the power of the Singularity upon them and appeal to the welcomed guests for their assistance. Everyone will be escorted back to the castle, where the prisoners will be placed back in their cells and the guests will be able to resume their daily lives as they previously were.

All characters who participated in this event can take one alteration: they can gain a new power, modify an existing power, or end up with a physical change of some sort. We're not putting any firm limitations on this save for "keep it reasonable" (no god-tier reality manipulation, time travel, inter-dimensional travel that would break the game setting and so on, and physical changes should be something like horns or claws or an extra foot in height, not becoming a dragon or a hundred feet tall), but the change should ideally reflect something about the character or the time they spent in the Horizon.

QUESTIONS

(NOTE: Ambrose's exact words as well as the setting around the Singularity and the conditions the travelers face will be described in greater detail in the event log itself, so please hold any questions about those aspects until then!)

Why do the prisoners get to go?
Thorne has a use in mind for magically charged prisoners (which, due to ethical concerns, they won't be disclosing to anyone). On that note, we'll be looking for a volunteer from the prisoner group sometime after the event, so keep an eye out for that.

If you die in the Horizon do you die in real life?
You can't really die in the Horizon. Anything that would be painful or pleasurable on the physical plane will still be so in the Horizon, but everyone will be able to recover and re-form themselves even if they are torn apart. It's impossible to lose consciousness while in the Horizon, and no one needs to sleep, either.

Can Ambrose and the other NPCs travel to or affect the Horizon?
None of the NPCs we've met so far - and, as far as anyone knows, no one native to Abraxas at all - can access the Horizon, and their magic doesn't affect it, either. They have no way of seeing, knowing, or controlling what goes on there. As far as they can see, the bodies of the newcomers are suspended somewhere between where the Horizon's boundary starts and the Singularity.

Can my character use their own powers in the Horizon?
Technically, all the characters can manifest whatever powers they like there! But yes, if you want to have your character use the powers they have in canon, you can. There are also no restrictions on prisoners using their own or any other powers while they're here.

How long will they be able to revisit the Horizon for?
Forever! The Horizon is now a permanent fixture of the game. As of right now, all characters can do is visit it and they won't be able to use it to affect anything in the real world, but it's a good place to chat and commune.

Can prisoners still visit the Horizon again? Can they use their new power if we give them one?
Prisoners will not have immediate access to their new power; it will be restored sometime in August along with the rest of their powers, if they have any. However, they will be able to access the Horizon right away! As stated in the last question, they can't use the Horizon to escape their cells or anything like that.

How will new characters access the Horizon for the first time?
New characters will come in with a dormant connection to the Horizon, the same as this first group did. In order to gain access they will need to awaken their connection, and this can be done in one of two ways: being taken to the Horizon by a character who can already go there (via physical contact and mutual meditation), OR by making a trek to the Singularity with a group and crossing the boundary into the crater with them. All characters will experience memory loss on their first trip, but can choose how long they end up staying.

Is it mandatory to take some sort of power or physical alteration from the Horizon?
Nope! The only mandatory alteration is the awakened connection to the Singularity. If you don't want the customizable freebie you can pass on taking it. However, note that while there will be other opportunities to alter your character in the future, you won't be able to save this one and claim it at a later date. You'll have to wait for another opportunity. Use it or lose it!

Can the alteration my character gets be something they wouldn't want/something that plays on their insecurities/etc. or would it have to be something they'd like to have?
It can absolutely be something that highlights a negative trait, something their insecure about, or something they'd just dislike. We'd never deny you the opportunity to torment your character!

Do I have to register my character's new power or physical alteration somewhere?
We will ask that you give a brief description of it in this month's Activity Check and we recommend adding it to your Info page so you and others can keep track, but no, you do not have to register it or ask permission otherwise. We do reserve the right to change anything game-breaking so if you feel your choice might fall under that category and are worried about having to retcon, you can ask us. Otherwise, you don't need to ask.

Would characters that already have pre-existing dreamwalking/dreamshaping powers find they have an easier, or more efficient time of shaping things? Or that they can apply skills that would typically be used exclusively within dreams in the Horizon?

Outfit: this is probably the best option but there may also be aspects of a silver Japanese dragon in there (given what he identifies with and what's on his back), maybe hair like he has in Ishin or the dragon from Kenzan

First Impressions of This Character: Strength and protection. The impression he'll give is that if you need help, you can go to him. Warm and steady and calming.

Their First Impressions of Others: People who seem to want to help others or look out for the weak are going to attract him. Anyone who'd use power to stomp on others will piss him off. He'll be more into people who are open with their sign but he won't hold it against those who don't. No preference on signs.

Domain: Someplace humble and cozy by clear blue water. A little like this place.

General Plans: Kiryu is 100% NOT OKAY with Majima still being imprisoned, with any of them being imprisoned, whatever they're doing with the crystals they harvested, and he's 150% not okay with Jon Sims being up for death. He's going to try and figure out what to do there (the mages make him feel like he's just perpetually under the gun and he's due something stupid) but he does take what they're saying seriously. Everything he does is to protect his family and if there's something threatening his world, they're now on the line. So this is going to be a awkward for him.

Outfit: PUNK PUNK PUNK. Leather crust punk and denim. The Tower symbol is going to be embroidered on her sleeve, clearly hand-sewn.

First Impressions of This Character: Everyone can see her Mien now! For as long as she's in the Horizon her Mask is functionally off, so people will always see her true form. She'll come across as aggressive and confrontational, unduly confident and (possibly surprisingly) actually competent in terms of manipulating the Dreamscape around them, as that's an actual Changeling set of skills. Underneath the confidence, however, is a very real and very intense fear; this place is giving her unpleasant deja vu, and even if she knows nothing about herself she knows this place is Not Right.

Their First Impressions of Others: Coraline may or may not want to fight other Towers. She'll definitely be seeking them out above everyone else, so if anyone else has Tower hit me up!

Domain: Trees! A forest is going to spring up around Coraline as she walks; thorny vines and strange fruits are going to twine around her, tall trees are going to shoot up like rockets and surround her like a dense forest whenever she stands still, and hunting dogs will follow at her heels - though "dogs" is a very loose term. Anyone who steps into her forest when she's not present will get immediately lost, no matter how good they are at scouting otherwise, and will immediately hear the claxon sound of a hunting party's horns sounding through the forest, followed by the howling of dogs. The hunt is on and you're their prey. Have fun!

General Plans: When her memories start to come back she's going to actively seek Jon out to smack him some more for getting sENTENCED TO DEATH, JON, WHAT THE FUCK???

I haven't thought of a new magic power for her yet but I'm fully open to suggestions! And also people trying to sway her to their causes because she can and WILL show off that she's more capable than you at messing with the dreamscape, ahaha.

Outfit: Medieval Hermit Attire. A pair of sturdy gloves tucked into his sash speak to a craftsman, but ink-stained fingers tell the story of a scholar. The clothes don't symbolize humility as much as a lack of concern about others' perception of him. The emblem of the Magician is finely and prominently displayed on his vest, a title he obviously takes pride in.

First Impressions of This Character: With all of the (conscious) burdens of his past stripped away, Hector is above all a curious soul. He's surprisingly gullible, and is willing to let others approach in order to learn more about them.

Their First Impressions of Others: Hector doesn't like to admit to being lonely, but he will be seeking connections. People who seem nice, or someone who is interesting that he can hope to learn from. Let this boy make some friends!

Domain: Hector's going to build himself a library and a workshop and it's going to be full of dogs. Other animals, too, for him to study and play with, but a disproportionate number of dogs running around.

General Plans: Even before they get inside the singularity, Hector's going to be thinking of staying there. If it's the one place the locals can't go, seems like the safest place for the otherworldly guests and prisoners to be.

He's still working on freeing Alucard the ungrateful bastard, and has been slowly putting feelers out for others with like-minded jailbreaking goals. He has magic, he's got a charm that will help him lie when the big day comes, and he's willing to recklessly put himself into danger. I'd love to get him working with others to make some real plans.

Sign: Hierophant'
Outfit: Alucard will be wearing the first outfit on the far left of this image, with the stylized iconography of the Hierophant embroidered on the cuffs of the sleeves for the coat and the shirt underneath. Or he may take to his large white wolf form, and which case you will see a big wolf!

First Impressions of This Character: Alucard will definitely not be friendly or approachable looking at all, but his vibe is going to shift between I'M BIG DON'T TOUCH ME and I'm incredibly depressed and probably need to talk to another person. He's been feeling this contradiction a lot lately. If you catch him in wolf form, he'll likely just seem distant.

Their First Impressions of Others: Those who want a large expanse of forest will absolutely have his attention, as will those who will want their own space to be left alone. Essentially cooperative hermitages are his game right now. Everyone else will be a bit of a wild card, although he will be interested in technology based domains in spite of his better judgement.

Domain: At the moment Alucard's domain is likely to be mostly a dark and gloomy forest, with a tiny hut in the center of it. It will feature this kitchen and a small room with a too soft bed, a night stand, and a small pile of books. Essentially, what Alucard thinks he needs at the moment. (Spoilers: he needs a lot more.) Everything will have electric lighting and running water though, because Dracula was a nerd and figured this shit out by the 1400s. Please roll with me on this I don't make up dramatic vampire infrastructure. There will be a few very tall spikes on the path that leads up to the hut, but nothing will be on them. The exterior, through far too much fog, will looke like this. (Just the exterior ignore the other details!)

General Plans: Okay so!
--Alucard's wolf form is on and available to whoever wants it, so please feel free to hit me up
--Ditto his ability to turn into a series of bats (but why would you?)
--His wurm event was the brunt force of the trauma he's been dealing with, so I'm using this event as an opportunity to poke at the real effect of it all which is his sense of isolation and loneliness as at the end of the day, Alucard's just a pretty traumatized 20 something with zero coping skills and intense influences.
--He might not open up to folks but I'd like to lay the ground work to potentially pull him away from Pulling a Dad
--Likewise I'd love to lay the groundwork for going further into darkness, especially with jailbreak potential on the horizon.

First Impressions of This Character: Ezra may be startled at first by people stumbling into his domain, but get over that quickly and be friendly back to anyone who is pleasant to him. His default state is relatively easy going and peaceful.

Their First Impressions of Others: I think he'd be curious about most signs. Damaging his domain or other people are likely to rile a quick temper. He'll try to help most people asking for help, as long as they strike him as fairly honest about it.

Domain: I refer you to this gif set. Grasslands, hills, and starry skyscapes, and wild life, including space wolves and wild cats. Oh and daises. Lots of daisies. Ezra's connection to his home world is strong, and strongly implied in canon to exist on a Force/spiritual level.

General Plans: Ezra, as his memories come back, will want to know how this place fits into everything he has learned about the Singularity. He'll feel it's his duty as a Jedi try to understand something the natives of Abaraxas believe is so key to the balance of realities. He's not really a scientist, so his investigation may be haphazard.

Outfit: Something like this, think eldritch priest.

First Impressions of This Character: I wouldn't say he comes off as friendly, exactly, but he's always grinning, and there's something sort of alluring about him. He wants to reach out and guide you through the tantalizing realm of the unknown. He's protective in a very possessive sort of way, and authoritative (though more cult leader than king). Dark magic and monsters abound; his whole shtick has very "forbidden tome you know you shouldn't open no matter how much you want to" vibes. But hey, aren't rules made to be broken?

Their First Impressions of Others: He'll be very much on the lookout for people who seem like they could use a corrupting influence in their lives. Let him temp you over to his domain, dear. He won't bite (much). People with some sort of moral crisis going on are very good, too. Sign-wise, he'll be very curious about other Towers, and more likely to try and start shit with Hierophants and Justices, but I'm down for anything with any sign. People who come off as very morally upright or good or orderly will probably be disliked.

Domain: Nightmare horrorscapes! Probably some worn-down and very haunted looking houses, a desecrated church because he's edgy like that, twisted trees and plants and animals with too many teeth. It's always dark and shadowy, and the landscape seems to shift and change as you pass through it. Think creepy little horror town that has fallen under the influence of a dark entity.

General Plans: I'm really interested in both playing off of his current CR and meeting new CR for this event! He's trying to gather up a little group of people who he can gain the loyalty of and be a bad influence on and I'd like to use this event to facilitate that if possible, but I am really open to anything. Enemies, too! He could definitely use some enemies.

Outfit: Simply speaking he'll be wearing armor, but less like normal armor and more like this madness from when Nidhogg was cosplaying as him. Essentially it'll be organic-looking dragon armor fused with his humanoid body, though sleeker and more natural-looking than the reference image and actually showing his human face. Instead of having fake draconic features built into his armor, he'll have real draconic features, including wings, a tail, horns, claws, fangs, all that good shit. Aesthetically he's based on this dragon.

First Impressions of This Character: Territorial, defensive, desperate, potentially violent. As the Hermit archetype, his first impulse is to be left alone and to be free - after picking a spot of territory, he'll immediately focus everything on forming a defensive perimeter and keeping the space to himself. He appears physically monstrous and seems willing to live up to the image, though it also seems based in fear and desperation more than anything else.

Their First Impressions of Others: He will immediately be unfriendly to anyone who trespasses and potentially even attack them, but will mostly leave people alone otherwise, unless they are doing something offensive to his territory or on the edges of it. Rude neighbours, GTFO. He can, however, be reasoned with by people who are patient with him or kind to him, and gravitates towards things like Fools, Suns, Empresses, Temperances, Strengths, and Deaths if they can weather his aggression long enough to make themselves known to him.

He ultimately won't want to hurt anyone who isn't an actual threat to him, though it may take him a while to figure that out. He'll react badly to any kind of person or Arcana that is inclined to try to enforce their will on him. Conquerer types and people who are going to try to grab land from him will immediately cause conflict. He's also probably going to try to take too much land to begin with in an effort to be given privacy so feel free to fight him over that.

He can also potentially be persuaded to help protect the stuff of/do stuff for people who end up gaining his trust.

Domain: Given his desire to have privacy, he may be inclined to take an inappropriately large chunk of land right off the bat, and then will be trying to defend it to the death. His domain will be a miniature mountainous area with a defensive ridge of stone around the outside and a grassy valley in the middle filled with some pastoral animals. Essentially, the pleasant sort of wilderness, surrounded by rocky territory filled with glowing Final Fantasy crystals. Think in terms of a dragon lair. Don't fuck with his sheep or he'll kill you.

General Plans: Despite Estinien's Hermit inclinations, I really do want for him to use this opportunity to meet a bunch of people before the jailbreak happens! Especially welcomed peeps he hasn't had the opportunity to meet with yet. I'm willing to work with people to get Estinien in their grill even if he really doesn't want to be bothered.

Outfit: Phoenix's self-image is still very much defined by his seven years of disbarment. He'll be wearing a gray hoodie and a blue beanie like so, except his beanie won't have any text on it. But unlike during his disbarment days, his beanie doesn't ever cover his eyes and his hoodie will be unzipped, indicating more emotional openness.

First Impressions of This Character: The first impression of Phoenix will definitely be a very friendly, kind, curious, and altruistic man who doesn't like being alone. He loves hard and fast, and he wants to protect people who can't protect themselves, even nurture them sometimes. He welcomes people into his domain and makes space for them freely, and he likes going into other people's domains to make what they already made prettier.

Nonetheless, he carries an air of melancholy. Without memories of the people he loves, he's directionless, and he's struggling to find purpose.

Their First Impressions of Others: Phoenix will be generally open to people... unless they display cruelty. Cruelty is a hard no for him, as is callous disregard for others. He gravitates most towards people with strong personalities and an earnest desire to Do Right, but he becomes hostile when he's faced off with bullies.

Domain: Phoenix's space will lack direction and just become an amalgamation of ephemera that 'feel right', like sunflowers and blue top hats and a classic set of scales. There will be a comfortable and domestic but unfinished home with bits and pieces of his forgotten loved ones lying around. If he's left alone for too long, he'll try to fill the space with people--but since he can't create people, he'll only create soulless mannequins, and he'll be repulsed by these representations of his own loneliness and need for people who aren't there. If he's still left alone too long, the mannequins will grow dahlia flowers and their right hands will scar in such a way that it looks like they have the image of a skull grimacing on them.

As people visit him, however, the mannequins will disappear to instead be replaced by an abstract clubhouse/home of sorts that opens up into a rolling field of sunflowers. The clubhouse will be an impossible space that has rooms clearly designed with certain people in mind, like Phoenix wants to fill up his place in the world with comfortable spots for people he cares about. The detail and accessibility of these rooms depends on how much he likes a person and how much he wants to incorporate them into his space.

General Plans: I still haven't decided on what power/body modification I want to give him after this, so suggestions are welcome!

As a side note, he will be VERY against executing Jon, and he's extremely uncomfortable with the idea of being forced to stay in Thorne after they kidnapped him and everyone else. He'll play along for now, but gears are turning in his head that he wants to leave as soon as he's gotten folks out of prison.

geralt is drawn to people who are naturally kind and because he's lacking his memories he'll be less cynical about it on top of that. if phoenix welcomes him in and doesn't bother him excessively, i think he'd return now and again since the space is nice and quiet....and will maybe bring phoenix something he's expressed he likes (does he want medieval bread? more flowers? a freshly butchered deer shank?)

outside of that jon is in geralt's cell and geralt is also very against jon getting his head lopped off, though geralt's preferred method of making that not happen may clash with phoenix's.

Outfit: A black jumpsuit with the zipper lowered and sleeves rolled up. His undershirt — also black, of course — will have a hood that'll be resting outside of the jumpsuit; it'll almost never be up. Sign taking up the jumpsuit's back; it'll be black, too, but visible by way of different material, so it catches light differently. Combat boots.

First impressions of this character: Independent and standoffish. That said, he won't be territorial or power-hungry; he'll mostly just be chilling and doing his own thing. He'll be unlikely to approach anyone else, though it's possible he'll be approachable — depends on their sign and if they're interested in what he's doing or just coming to harass him. Could turn violent if he feels he's being threatened.

Their first impressions of others: Amos is first and foremost geared towards good people, which might very well not be relevant here! But he'll probably be friendly towards other Lovers-aligned characters, since he'd interpret that as having common values.
Signs he'll be receptive to: Magician, Empress, Emperor, Lovers, Strength, Hermit, Justice, Death, Star, World
Signs he won't: Chariot, Hanged Man (hits a little too close to home there!!), Moon, Sun, Judgement

Domain: Space bullshit? Space bullshit. His domain will be mostly dark with pinpricks of light throughout, similar to a night sky sans light pollution, though it'll still be easy enough to see while in it. In canon he's a spaceship mechanic, so he'll be geared towards building mechanical things, especially things relevant to life in space (e.g. rockets, air recyclers, engines, reactors... ring gates to get some canon fuckery in there for him, though obviously they won't work). Probably smaller-scale because he'd be aware of spacial limitations.

General plans: Getting more CR going is always good! I'd love to do stuff with characters geared towards the practical, especially in regards to building/creating stuff — or more dreamy types, that'd be different. Also characters who tend to form strong bonds with others (... geez why did I give him the Lovers sign).

I'll probably be looking to give him a power after the event, too. Leaning something New Magic-y (some kinda technopathy thing?? I dunno I am gonna have to think on what's properly feasible here).

Outfit: Full on exoskeleton! Yes, it's pretty much just this picture. Black clothing, black necromancer's robe, and the exoskeleton she made herself in its full glory.

First Impressions of This Character: Smug and sneering but not unapproachable, Harrow gives off a sense of great intelligence and power but also equanimity. She is not against anyone, but she is not by default for them, either. She will listen,and she will decide who to put her power behind based on what they can tell her and show her. She seems very collected and mature for her youth, and rather serene, like one might expect of a competent religious leader who is not corrupt. A competent religious leader who is very powerful magically and knows it, too.

Their First Impressions of Others: Harrow will flock to others who show wear The Magician or Strength (though she won't know why—it's instinct and it's because of Gideon who she is soulbonded to, unless mods say she can't have this sort of memory) or anything that seems to show her thanergy or any form of death-magic ability. She will show interest in any who show interest in her, though. Naturally, those who show great magical aptitude draw her curiosity, and kindness shown to her openly will gather her loyalty.

Domain: This is the Locked Tomb of the Ninth House. Welcome to Harrow's Domain. It's ice and stalagmites and stalactites, caves filled with bioluminescent fungus, and there are skeletons. Everywhere, skeletons at work, bones lying around in piles and shapes. It is a world made of bones and cold caves, but despite the eerie nature to the interpretation of some, it is not an overly cold domain, nor does it seem cruel.

General Plans: I have no idea at the moment; please come at me, I want to get involved in all of your plots!

Outfit: We're going full bard, baby. There will be embroidered suns all over his doublet, so it's impossible to miss. And, of course, his gorgeous, ostentatious lute.

First Impressions of This Character: Jaskier is more than amenable to company, and tends to be good-humored about most things. With a natural curiousity, and the precise ability to be extremely talkative, he can be a little overwhelming to a point where it can get annoying. Another person's annoyance, however, won't stop him from going after what he wants. (Which is inspiration, and adventure, and art!) Naturally charismatic, as a performer must be.

Their First Impressions of Others: Generally trusting enough that he'll get along with them! Since his domain will be a traveling one, he isn't really the type to seek to expand it or take territory from others. With curiosity and a horny lust for adventure fueling him, he'll want to explore/"experience" other domains. He won't be shaken off by people being standoffish or rude (unless they insult his music, in which he might try to, like, break a tree branch or something.)

Domain: Jaskier's domain is going to be a traveling caravan of entertainers. His "NPCs" will be faceless musicians -- after all, he's the star, and the caravan's set up, his forefront position in its line, and the other musicians' duller colors will reflect this. They will play background music for his travels and for any potential ballads he performs -- and perform he will. Hope you don't mind a bunch of brightly decorated wagons and horses rolling into your shop. (We're bringing Sylvando energy to everyone else's depression stations!) Of course, there will be copious amounts of rich food and drink to slate any hunger or thirsts that arrive, with rich tapestries/fabrics decorating it all.

There will also be a white wolf following the caravan that generally only makes annoyed snorts and seems to bite/bully him quite a bit, but... you know, it's a cute animal companion. No idea why it's there.

General Plans: If your character is the type to hole up in a cave and needs to be bothered/dragged out, this is definitely your idiot to hit up. 8)

First Impressions of This Character: Approachable but reserved at first, but curious and open to talking to others. Will be going out of her way to speak to and especially help those around her. She will be exploring other areas without hesitation.

Their First Impressions of Others: Relena will be drawn to other Helper arcana but also , and almost more intensely, to more intense arcana. She's naturally inclined towards politicians and soldiers, both to share ideas and to support them, but also contest their more violent ideals. She is generally open to conversion with most, though, she might be a bit withdrawn but she isn't shy. The more challenging the person, the more of herself that comes out.

Domain: I'm leaning towards something that resembles part of a space colony. I just need to suss out in what way.

General Plans: She's gonna be mad !! About Jon's sentence and might try to find a way to speak to the powers that be about it? Try, she's still a prisoner. I need to make up for last month being against me, so I'll have her exploring around other dreamscapes as much as dealing in her own. She's probably going to go badger Estinien with some others and let her natural curiosity lead her to learning more about her Horizon fellows.

I'm thinking of focusing on buffs/debuffs as her magic brand. What she'll get first, I'm still deciding on. When she's back in the cell, I imagine she'll be getting more ornery with impatience. She doesn't like being toyed around with, especially not for this long !

Outfit: Mmmmmm probably just some variation on her standard attire back home - barefoot as opposed to the usual boots (feet near-black with dirt), green dress (plain, flowing, sleeveless, a very low-cut back - shoulder blades and half of her spine exposed, hem dragging through the dirt at the back), black top hat with a long, white mesh veil hanging from the brim that obscures her entire face, the lovers sigil inked onto the front. Rings on nearly every finger, layered silver necklaces. A large, fringed brown shawl slung around her shoulders, draped over each arm at the elbow.

First Impressions of This Character: Quite melancholic, and torn between tension and exuberance at the presence of anyone else. Warm, friendly, lonely, and while probably not obviously 'powerful', there's a very alive quality to the air on her turf, a lot of energy.

Their First Impressions of Others: Utterly neutral to others sharing her sign, one can be loyal to some real shitty folks, deems it useless without further context. An appearance or domain she vibes with would help win her over, as for traits she'll go for curiosity, loneliness, people easy to approach, people not obviously angling for Wholeass Domination Of The Plane, kindness, anything she could feel some kinship with, etc. As for competition, overly-manmade constructs, specific damage or attempts to overtake her space or the space of anyone she's allied with, otherwise she's somewhat predisposed to just set her own space and stay there.

Domain: Swampland, baybee. Water and trees throughout the entirety of her space, sparsely populated with coypu, birds, snakes, frogs, salamanders, alligators, so on. Should one trudge through the water (ankle deep in some places and well overhead in others) they'll notice the occasional skeleton floating in the muck. Most animal, some human. At the center of it all, a sizeable bit of dry land where she's likely to be found. It's covered in chairs - full sofas, stools, loveseats, metal, wicker, pristine, weatherbeaten, spread with little rhyme or reason across the plot. In general expect nature and animals from her.

General Plans: She's off to something of a slow start, so I'm not really coming in with any strict plans! Primarily still looking to establish cr and get her ready to break off once everything hits the fan in a month or two.

Outfit: Geralt will be wearing what he normally does, but in place of his usual wolf medallion it will now take the form of his Sign instead.

First Impressions of This Character: Geralt himself gives off the sense that he prefers to be alone but if you don't seem like you're looking to invade his space, he won't pay you much mind. If you need help, he will begrudgingly help you and he will be content to accept casual undemanding company.

Their First Impressions of Others: While his tendency is towards being alone, deep down he does desire companionship and will be especially receptive to The Lovers and Strength -- essentially, people who indicate a strong sense of loyalty and honesty. Although he will on the surface express annoyance at The Sun and The Fool, he'll quietly tolerate them and can be won over by their sunny personalities. People who come off as manipulative or having ulterior motives or seeking power, he will want nothing to do with.

Domain: A bit like this! Just a simple cabin and a chestnut mare stabled. Inside is sparsely furnished but cozy. Despite the snow, there are lilacs and gooseberries growing in a patch out back, along with some buttercups and dandelions. A swallow seems to hang around all the time on the roof. He has three carved wolves by a window. They look roughly whittled and are obviously not professionally made.

Occasionally, a faceless young girl will appear. She will have ash-blond hair and seems to be about twelve or thirteen, but is otherwise featureless, like this (beware some creepy imagery in the pic). She will not speak or interact with you; she's really just an apparition that comes and goes. If you try to attack the image or make her disappear, though, Geralt will become aggressive.

General Plans: If your character needs protecting, he is available. He is also available for being harassed.

First Impressions of This Character: Anxious, hiding fear under scorn. Especially afraid of anything he's created himself. Also eyes keep opening in places they shouldn't.

Their First Impressions of Others: Jon's likely be drawn to other High Priestesses or Hanged Men. He's also driven to help, if anyone appears to be struggling. Repelled by anyone enjoying power over others, or voyeurs.

Domain:


Jon-boy gets a rotting panopticon! Would love it to overlap with someone else, if anyone's prison-inclined. Him moving through anyone else's domain is likely to populate it with semi-organic security cameras, which he may or may not be seeing through.

General Plans: Jon isn't surprised to hear he's been sentenced to death. He won't protest that, though he'll also escape as soon as opportunity presents itself. Inside the Horizon, once he has things figured out, he'll get rid of the prison part of his panopticon, but that decaying tower is awfully stubborn.

Character Name: Majima Goro
Sign: The Hanged Man
Outfit: One of two choices both of which center around his subconscious feelings of himself. The first is modern day prison garb, dull grey and maybe with some wear and tear. The second is his usual garb from back home, his full tuxedo that somehow looks even more formal and stuffy on him while in this place. Regardless of which outfit you catch him in he will always be wearing a golden collar with leash trailing and golden chains around his wrists and ankles. They don't impede his movement but they do rustle prettily while he moves as if to always remind him that he's a prisoner caught in a gilded cage.

First Impressions of This Character: That of a Thug. In other words, he looks and feels like a guy who's spent his entire life in the underworld doing shady business no normal person wants to know about. This can be countered by his formal attire and pleasing demeanor once he speaks or be accented by it if a person would immediately think 'oh that's snake skin oil he's selling me'. Either way he's a bit hard to approach but once someone does they're realize he's very formal in speech, a gracious host, and eager to please those around him. He's basically stuck in Lord of the Night mode for the duration of this event, you're welcome.

Their First Impressions of Others: First and foremost he'll be attracted to those that display Strength. Whether it's their tarot or it's within their demeanor/aura, he'll be attracted to those types that are strong physically or mentally. He might display the desire to Fight if a person is physically strong. He'll be friendly and eager to please someone of a strong mental capacity. Everyone else will likely be ignored until he's approached by them and then he'll go into Lord of the Night mode and be gracious host unless provoked. On the off chance this becomes a thing, he maaaay go out of his way to help a person (especially if young or female) if it looks like they're in or going to get into a scuffle with someone else. Secretly, he enjoys protecting people. (But shhh that's on the downlow.)

Domain: Again going along the theme of Majima's subconscious creating things for him to live in his nightmare prison from home... it's the Grand Cabaret in all it's gaudy glory. On the outskirts where it borders with Kiryu's domain will be part of a batting cage, a much more happy setting for Majima and a sentiment he shares with Kiryu.

General Plans: Other than a huge, overly dramatic FIGHT with Kiryu-chan the first time they meet, I've got nothing. Since he's probably gonna be stuck in Lord of the Night mode for most if not all of the duration of this event, he can and will be eager to help and please others once people get past his thuggish aura. I don't think he'll be particularly good at creating things and mostly it will be his subconscious that creates his domain--but if anyone wants to recruit him for attempting to co-create or whatever, now might be a good time. He probably won't ever be so nice again. Haha.

I ALMOST FORGOT actually I do have a thing! I want to include a prompt for a Shadow Saejima to be present. His subconscious is going to create this not-quite-person for him from his desire to see his sworn brother. It will either be distorted badly or only capable of performing a few random, mundane tasks and barely speaking but it will be present within Majima's domain almost constantly. Saejima will look something like this (minus the guns) as that's the last way Majima saw him.

Sign: The Moon
Outfit: The degree to which the Greywaren is even apparently human will probably vary from moment to moment, but you can expect to encounter something like this or... a common raven. The Moon symbol is either tattooed onto his skin (with the rest of his tattoos) or a subtle pattern in his feathers.

First Impressions of This Character: This creature isn't human and it doesn't care about human things. It prefers to remain undisturbed in the place it's claimed for itself and all it wants to do is thrive in that place. It is extremely protective of that space and will react violently to uninvited trespassers who don't pay it an appropriate amount of respect and reverence. If it's near you, you'll find that it's easier to manifest the things you want, but that also feels dangerous and maybe a little addictive and maddening.

Their First Impressions of Others: The Greywaren responds positively to offerings, sacrifices, and gratitude. It doesn't like to be approached but it'll warm up to coaxing and promises of gifts. It feeds on energy and is attracted to people who can direct energy towards it. It has an affinity for transformative signs like The Tower, Death, and The Devil, but struggles with the rigidity of The Emperor. It enjoys granting wishes and serving people who appeal to it. It does not like to be dominated by force.

Domain: An enchanted forest straight out of a fairy tale, impossibly beautiful and intoxicating, the kind of place where men lose centuries of their lives just wandering. It's going to be a long winter night when it first manifests, but it's likely to shift seasons or respond to the personalities of its neighbors. Birch trees and strange blue flowers are going to be the most common plants found, but there's a little of everything, with sparkling lights like fireflies floating everywhere. The greatest threat here is how tempting it is to lie down and stay forever.

General Plans: We're pretty much in Ronan's native territory. Dream manipulation and manifestation are his natural powers, but beyond that, Ronan himself is a dream. The Greywaren is the name that other dreams call him, so we're going with that here as the primary way he'll be recognized in the Horizon. He acts as a psychopomp for other dreamers, focusing their will and energy, which is something he can do for others here, too. It's going to be extremely difficult for anyone to overpower the Greywaren in this space, because even though he doesn't have his memories, he does have his innate skills, and dreams are basically his kingdom. I'm totally not opposed to anyone fucking around and finding out, though! If you want his help to strengthen your manifestations or just want to get drunk off his presence, you'll have to make a bargain with him. Nothing can possibly go wrong with a fairy bargain, right?

I don't imagine she'll be as powerful as Ronan but she can probably put up some stiff competition. Her forest even has a similar vibe to his, in that you could get lost in it and not realise for a hundred years, but thanks to her currently-subconscious trauma it's a lot more grim and terrifying than Ronan's.

Outfit: Classical era robes with her sign stitched into the back. She'll also have a choker and fetters (around both her wrists and ankles, but weirdly do not impede her movement) that appear to be made out of bone and fused to her skin, weaving in and out of it like she's been impaled.

First Impressions of This Character: Stubborn, and chaotic. Headstrong and feeling rebellious against... something that she cannot particularly remember. Once she starts getting a feel for shaping her domain, she'll throw herself into making something that's her own and really enjoy herself in the process. She might have a little bit of a temper or gear up into protective mode if someone else's domain edges too close!! She'll be sort of embracing the "hanged-man-I'm-an-outsider-and-so-unique-and-alone-but-it's-ok" confidently standoffish (but it's not really ok, she's lonely :( ). Subconsciously, she's dealing with a lot of feelings about being trapped and stripped of her power, so the creating a space for herself is functioning as a way of exerting her agency.

Their First Impressions of Others: She'll be cautiously curious about others but that easily veers into mistrust, especially if they start messing with her weird ethereal sun sculptures. She can easily get into little territorial spats, and she might be a little looser with keeping her powers in check with someone that's annoyed her. Compliment her, call her power cool, talk about all the neat things you could do together, and not be alone... she'll eat that up. Don't tell her what to do or try to box her into some role, she'll get angry.

Domain: I am very bad at describing things but basically the beach from Annihilation (exhibits one and two), with a greater density and just more sprawling, crystalline structures, spikes coming up from the ground, etc. Everything is shiny and difficult to look at for too long without feeling like it hurts your eyes (a bit like looking at the sun). Also hot to the touch.

General Plans: I'll be adding a backdated prison prompt for anyone that wants to visit her before the event too! Also afterwards she is.... not going to like how she lashed out at all.

Character Name: Kylo Ren
Sign: The Tower
Outfit: Kylo, because I am cruel, will have his magnificent chesticles on display though his skin will be covered in ash. From the waist down it's all lots and lots of billowy black skirts that are constantly singed at the frayed hem where they drag on the ground, very overdramatic. He's a living volcano creature like in this picture, wearing a crown of crystal obsidian thorns. Burns the ground where he walks. (Sigil of the Tower is on his belt.)

First Impressions of This Character: Destructive asshole who should probably stay on his cursed lava mountain and leave everyone alone. Kylo will be doing friendly things like breathing ash and spewing lava if angered beyond his ability to control, but otherwise sulking reclusively in a very ominous fashion. Perceptive individuals will probably note he seems to be in pain. Maybe he needs the moana treatment?

Their First Impressions of Others: Kylo will be aggressively defensive and unpleasantly hostile to anyone believing themselves better or more deserving than him, but can be won over by sincere efforts to engage. Falsehood and hypocrisy are the traits he finds most offensive, and while he will defend his own territory with zeal (and encroach on others without necessarily intending to, sorry about the lava spills), Kylo's very much about personal agency here, if with a fairly unpleasant might-is-right lean. Everyone has a right to rule their own corner of the dreamspace as they see fit, but anyone attempting to impose their views and opinions and morality on others is going to earn Kylo's ire.

Domain: Cursed volcano with an equally cursed obsidian castle (complete with cursed obsidian throne room), its rock-hewn halls half devoured by the mountainside. Kylo's domain will begin to follow him if he leaves it, slow inevitable lava flow style. The volcano is active, though not (yet?) explosively so! Ominously oppressive ash clouds cut through with lightning and so forth, lava lakes, streams, falls, the works. Space-wise, Kylo's mountain will continue to grow throughout the event unless his ambitions are curtailed.

General Plans: Very much happy to have Kylo play an antagonistic role for your soft and gentles, but he will have to be provoked. Luckily, he's very easily provoked. I'd be very much into a battle of wills with anyone not particularly keen on having their lovely paradise choked with ash and lava, or indeed if there's anyone out there who thinks maybe Kylo could use help. I mean, he is on fire. All the time. It's not a lot of fun for him.

Kylo's firmly on team Thorne (or at least, keep Thorne on side) and thinks anyone stupid enough to annoy the hosts that have proven themselves capable of nullifying powers and throwing people in dungeons rather than see what they can get out of cooperation with them probably deserves what they get. He took his job as supervisor in the Frostwurm burrows seriously and once he gets his memories back will be very interested in testing the limits of the Horizon to serve Thorne's (and his own!) goals.

As for powers, I haven't quite decided but lava summoning could be fun...

Character Name: Jolie Ann Harmony
Sign: Justice
Outfit: She's getting her only described canon outfit back, which is jeans, hiking boots, a denim jacket with homemade rivets and spikes worked into it so it looks "punk", and a black t-shirt with a skull on it. She looks kind of ridiculous, actually, with her fresh face and her tryhard grunge outfit, but she loves it anyway.

First Impressions of This Character: Jolie is wary but willing to be friends. She's defensive but not hostile, and once she's settled in her little corner she'll be a little sad and not know why. Get her warmed up, though, and she can be downright sunny.

Their First Impressions of Others: She's drawn to people who are patient and don't give orders, or who need help. Try to order her around and she'll probably explode at you. Others with the Justice sign will probably get interest, because she hasn't officially met anyone else with her sign yet, and even without memories she doesn't know why she has it, not really. She has no real preference for signs among others, though, and will take people as they come.

Domain: A beach. Small, pebbly, with lots of rocks and a steep hill or shallow cliff above. Enough water to swim in.

General Plans: I definitely want to get out more this event, since it's not locked to just prisoners or small groups. Come hit me up for CR, I definitely need to make more of it :3

I'd be interested in putting these two together, since Geralt tends to be pretty chill and even tempered. If he doesn't notice anyone close by he will just take a dip in her beach tbh. It looks nice and peaceful.

Eponine Thenardier - Les Miserables

Character Name: Eponine Thenardier
Sign: Hanged man
Outfit: A romantic almost fairy-like gown, though it's tattered appearance becomes more apparent the closer one gets. Similar to this, but with more pink colours through it.

First Impressions of This Character: A false confidence masking deep insecurities. Eponine talks far too much, far too quickly and far too nervously. She's overly eager to prove herself to be just as good as anybody else. She'll come across as definitely spoiled, probably quite petulant and definitely quite superficial. She's given over to just getting what she wants, or trying to take what she wants, and she doesn't often make good (or correct) choices.

Their First Impressions of Others: Eponine couldn't care less about signs. She is absolutely superficial and attracted to beauty first and foremost. She'll also likely be more attracted to characters willing to listen to her and to characters who will share what they have with her. She likes music and song too, so she'll be more likely to want to interact with those who can play/sing/indulge her. She'd probably initially try to avoid those characters whose signs are more authoritative - especially if she's doing the wrong thing.

Domain: She'd go for a house (mansion) - think Georgian pile - sturdy brick build, lots of empty rooms filled with mirrors and jewellery and pretty clothes. Unfortunately for Eponine, the rooms would be thick with dust, the clothes that she finds as tattered as the dress she wears, the jewellery all fake and tarnished. The kitchen though, would be well supplied with food as she indulges her gluttonous streak. Think chocolate, exotic fruits, coffee, sugar, sweets, sausages covered in mustard... She'd definitely indulge in shoes too. Outside, she's create a garden filled with apple trees and fragrant flowers.

General Plans: Eponine's spent around 2 weeks in solitary. She'd try to run for it as soon as she gets released but give up the moment a guard grabs her back. She'll be absolutely starving, exhausted, skittish and snappy to most everybody both before and after the event.

Good luck getting useful information out of her about Hayle/ what Ambrose is up to or Anastasia's distain for it. Her takeaway from the conversation is that Anastasia called her 'dear', and was relatively kind to her. She is definitely Team Hayle right now and will be up for trying to get back there ASAP.

Post-event, if you're up for it, Geralt will probably look in on her because out of everyone, she seems like she's had the roughest time and he'll be mildly concerned.

He's also aware he's lucked out with visitors from upstairs, so he's got food to share and won't mind doing so.

Outfit: A shit ton of black

First Impressions of This Character: On sight she appears tall, dark, and intimidating, but on speaking to her you'll find she's friendly and willing to talk, though you'll probably wish she'd shut up. She thinks she's the pinnacle of wit, but she's also 18 so we're talking bad puns, snark and innuendo. She's very protective of people though, and all anyone really needs to do to earn this protection from her is to be nice to her once. Whilst she's confident, she's not all that used to social interaction so can sometimes come off a bit awkward beneath the bravado.

Their First Impressions of Others: She's always drawn to strong people who are skilled fighters as this is something she greatly admires and aspires to. She's also very partial to cute girls, ahah. Anyone who looks like they need or want her protection will very swiftly gain her attention too, but as mentioned above, all anyone really needs to do is be nice to her one time and you'll win her loyalty.

Domain: A military training base set in a section of harsh, unforgiving landscape. Her life's dream has always been to join up with the Cohort and travel to battlefronts on distant planets, so this is what forms around her here. If you venture into the base you'll find barracks, communal showers, a cafeteria, and training areas. It's all very utilitarian. There will be vague NPCs in all areas, usually off in the background, though occasionally they might be found grouping around Gideon like a gaggle of fangirls. Don't look at her (except of course, do!) but she's always wanted admirers to tell her how big and impressive her biceps are. Mysteriously, all her 'admirers' appear to be women. There are also an alarming number of skeletons milling about doing menial chores...you can take a girl out of the Ninth House, but apparenly it's harder to take the Ninth House out of the girl.

General Plans: No solid plans yet, come at me! I want to get more CR with her! Apologies for painful slowness this week whilst I'm at a psychology conference but I'll be around much more next week!
