EVENT #14: CREATURE THREAT SUBMISSIONS

Canon Creatures #2
Despite the influx of creatures from other worlds into Abraxas, there is still room for a few more. This time, instead of benign or low-threat creatures, we'd like you to submit potentially dangerous, infamous, or volatile creature that exists in your character's canon world! Depending on the number of submissions, we may use all of them or we may narrow down the pool.

To submit a creature, fill out the form here. The deadline is August 13th at 11:59 ET.

To discuss what creatures you'd like to submit with your franchise-mates, you can comment here.

Review the stipulations below before submitting your creature:
One creature per canon/franchise. If there are multiple canons in a franchise, please discuss options with your franchise-mates and submit one together. All characters from ordinary worlds with no monsters or creatures will be considered one "canon/franchise."

◎ The creature in question could be a moderate to major threat. The creature does not need to be outright aggressive, but would typically be something that someone with common sense would avoid.

◎ The creature should be something that populates your world. It can be moderately intelligent, but not human or explicitly limited to human communication. The xenomorph from the Alien series would be an acceptable example of intelligence.

◎ Creatures can be large, but should not be larger than a three-story building.

◎ If your canon has no other option, then creatures of a robotic nature are acceptable. For canons that have no unusual creatures or no creatures that fit the requirements, you can select a common cryptid, mythical entity, or even a prehistoric animal (that's right, dinosaurs).
Questions and Answers

If after reading these you're still unsure about anything, or your question wasn't covered, please feel free to hit up our Questions thread below!

If a creature I submitted before has a more dangerous version, can I submit that?
Yes, you may submit a version of the same creature that poses a greater threat.
What about androids or robots?
We ask that you avoid anything that contains high technological advancement, except if mechanical creatures are treated as standard critters or monsters in your character's canon and no other options exist. In this case, please try to choose something with limited technological capabilities.
Did you say dinosaurs were possible for regular-earth canons?
We sure did.
What are the power limits on the creatures?
We'll leave it up to your discretion! In general, they shouldn't be world-breakingly powerful but should be a significant threat.
Can we submit creatures that aren't dangerous?
For this round, we're requesting creatures that would pose a danger, even if that danger is unintentional. For example, a benign creature whose sheer size causes destruction would be acceptable.
Mods...what are these going to be used for?
Don't worry about it.

Player Name: Jay
Creature Name: Hungry bones
Canon/Franchise: The Rifter Series

Description: Non-canon images since none exist! Hungry bones are magical constructs, a partially unintended consequence of a ritual attempt. These bones are possessed by the mindless, raging spirits of the humans and other creatures used to make them. Some individual bones may appear to have runes carved into them by an unsteady hand, or are held together by copper wire.

There's not always any visual rhyme or reason to their construction, and they can come in any size. However, there's usually at least one skull (human or non-human) at the head, some sort of 'body' built out of other miscellaneous bones, and limbs to propel itself. Their singular desire is to feed on living blood, which the individual bones will absorb from the wounds of their victims. They can destroyed either by removing the spirits from the physical bones they occupy, or by smashing the entire construct into too many broken pieces for it to reform.

Player Name: Lisa
Creature Name: Metal King Slime
Canon/Franchise: Dragon Quest

Description:

The metal king slime is a pudgy creature resembling a sphere of viscous mercury. It is incredibly rare and difficult to slay: impervious to physical and magical damage. But it cannot negate critical hits that ignore its defenses. It prefers to flee but can inflate its body to crush its enemies. It may unleash powerful fire magic as a distraction before running away.

Player Name: Cloude
Creature Name: Pooka
Canon/Franchise: She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

Description: A pooka looks very adorable and almost doglike, but the distinctive feature of pookas are the large, singular glowing pink eyes that cover the majority of their faces. They can walk on two legs, and their side-ways jointed forelegs let them cling to sheer surfaces or hang upside down. When opening their mouths, side-jointed mandibles emerge from between sharp fangs. They also have a thin coat of purplish-black around their bodies and dark teal around their face and the ends of their arms.

They hunt in packs and have razor-sharp teeth, but they canand be scared off by anything large than it.

Player Name: Em
Creature Name: Hellhound
Canon/Franchise: Supernatural

Description:

Hellhounds are voracious, tenacious, and intelligent. Once a hound has the scent of its target, it has it for life and will never give up the hunt until one or the other is dead, or unless its master calls it off. They can be clever, almost impossible to trick or distract, and are willing to improvise in order to get to their prey. Hellhounds will often physically rip their victims to shreds in order to collect their souls. In some cases, however, their mere presence is enough to literally scare people to death. Other times, the victims will be driven to commit suicide.

They are typically invisible to the naked eye. If wearing holy-fire treated glasses, or if beings are capable of seeing through supernatural invisibility, they appear as ferocious black dogs with red eyes. They vary in size, ranging from standard large-sized dogs to that of a small horse. They generate some kind of black aura around themselves, making them appear made of shadows.

noteworthy powers:

Invisibility - Hellhounds are invisible to humans, except under special circumstances. However, supernatural creatures, such as demons and angels, can see them. They can also be seen by the humans they are assigned to hunt and through an object scorched with Holy Fire.
Invulnerability - Hellhounds cannot be killed by conventional means or weapons. However, weapons like demon-killing blades, or an Angel blade, can kill them.
Hallucinations - When close to their prey, hellhounds cause their victims to experience hallucinations, so as to frighten them out of hiding and leave them defenseless.

Player Name: Noa
Creature Name: Myriapod
Canon/Franchise: The Witcher

Description: The myriapod is a giant insectoid creature with steel-like pincers that can deflect a sword and vicious teeth. It's capable of tearing a leshy clean in half, which is a formidable monster in its own right. It also has a fun array of human hands up the length of its thorax that wiggle around sometimes.

If it sees you, it will try to eat you and it will hunt you down by scent. It has no unique powers or abilities, it's just fucking creepy and moves pretty damn fast. As with any monster in the Witcher, you can whack its head off with a sword.

It should be noted this one is unique in the Witcher world. It came through a monolith, so there's technically only one.

Player Name: Terra
Creature Name: Demonic Beast
Canon/Franchise: Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Description: Demonic Beasts are monstrosities that are caused by mutations as a result of using Crests or a Heroes' Relics's true power in the hands of an incompatible user. All Demonic Beasts are, as a result, former humans either forced or willingly transformed. The transformation appears to be painful and engulfs the original host's consciousness, becoming a mindless creature of destruction. They are incredibly tough to kill, even for seasoned warriors. Many have lost their lives to them due to their immense power and ability to cause widespread destruction with magic and otherwise powerful physical blows.

It is unknown of their lifespan, but one such beast had lived for a thousand years. With unknown magic, they can be controlled or otherwise directed to attack enemies.

They come in different shapes and sizes including giant birds, wolves, crawlers and demonic beasts.

Player Name: Mica
Creature Name: Thresher Maw
Canon/Franchise: Mass Effect

Description: (wiki link)Thresher maws are wormlike, subterranean carnivores that spend their entire lives eating or searching for something to eat. They are enormous, violent creatures that burst up from the ground without warning when disturbed. They can grow in excess of 90 meters in length, though the full body of a Thresher almost never exits the ground and their primary method of locomotion is rapid subterranean burrowing.

In absence of prey, a Thresher Maw can survive by absorbing significant quantities of solar radiation via an unusual mineral-based form of photosynthesis, rather than starve. Their primary weapons include powerful whip-like sensory tentacles, razor-sharp mandible appendages— and a powerful acidic spray that they can spit hundreds of meters with remarkable accuracy, and which can eat through almost anything in minutes.

In general, a Thresher Maw is a massive, highly-resilient, fast-moving, acid-spitting, aggressive, territorial, pain in the ass. The generally accepted responses to Thresher Maws are heavy artillery, or simply moving to somewhere else. Fighting them on foot is not advised.

Creature Name: Darkhounds
Canon/Franchise: Wheel of Time

Description: Darkhounds are black, monstrous dogs about the size of a pony with glowing silver eyes. Their saliva is venomous and corrosive and will burn on contact. If not treated within twenty four hours, the wound can become lethal. They smell of sulfur and are very fast - it's claimed a human can't outrun a darkhound, but this is not factually true. It's just not easy to outrun one. They are ridiculously weak to water. If they get wet they just freeze on the spot and are essentially powerless. They are also normally damaged by common weapons such as arrows and swords, and attack magic. They tend to travel in small packs.

Creature Name: Rancor
Canon/Franchise: Star Wars

Description: Rancors are large, semi-sentient reptilian carnivores with long arms, immense jaws, and armored hides that can withstand blaster fire, making them formidable predators. On average, they stand around 4.2 meters (14 feet) tall and weigh 1,650kg (3,638 lbs). Despite their extremely intimidating appearance, rancors are inherently benign and even capable of being domesticated, but can be provoked or trained over time into adopting a violent, aggressive nature. Rumor has it that a rancor can be staggered by jamming a bone between its jaws.

Description: The Thunderjaw is a huge bipedal machine with features akin to those of a Tyrannosaurus Rex: powerful and bulky legs, a long body, and a heavy tail to maintain equilibrium. Its body features symmetrical weaponry: a laser weapon in its mouth, cannons on its jaws, a radar array on its back, and Disc Launchers on its hips.

They are also aggressive, programming to be "hunter-killers" and will engage with anything it perceives to be a threat, human and machine alike.

Creature Name: Morbol/Malboro
Canon/Franchise: Final Fantasy

Description: The morbol is a giant plant creature with a gaping maw, a bunch of tentacles, and a bad attitude and even badder breath.

It can fling itself around with ease, bury under the ground and then spring up somewhere else. It can grab things with its tentacles and slam people around, and its giant mouth is lined with a great many teeth. But for all of that the worst thing about a morbol is its breath: it paralyzes, blinds, poisons, and otherwise weakens anyone caught in it. Not a fun time!

Specifically, it's this particular morbol. It's named Carrot.

Player Name: Elizabeth
Creature Name: Dragon - Balerion the Black Dread
Canon/Franchise: Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire/House of the Dragon

Description: Large, terrifying fire lizards. Dragons from this canon are wyvern style (two back legs and two front wings) with horns, sharp claws, and protruding spines down their back and tail. They breathe fire both at will and on command. They have black bones and huge sharp teeth; unlike some fictional dragons, they don't talk. They eat meat, mostly livestock (sheep, goats, etc), and can dive into deep-enough waters to catch fish with their mouths. They are attracted to volcanoes, hot springs, and so on, but if they can't find them, a cave will do. They're not inherently malicious: they are dangerous animals that can be vicious and aggressive, but they don't seek out towns to burn. Their physical sex is extremely hard to determine and kind of a matter of guessing (in other words, gendered pronouns are applied to them in a somewhat arbitrary way). They are either attracted to magic or cause an increase in the potency/effectiveness of magic in their vicinity, maybe both. There is a wiki page; in cases where in-universe opinions differ, Septon Barth is always right.

For the purposes of this event, I'd suggest Balerion, brought in from one of his "between riders" phases (probably just pre-Aegon the Conqueror, when he's around 100 years old), but there are also the wild/feral dragons Sheepstealer or Cannibal if Balerion is too much.

From the wiki:

Balerion's scales and wings were black. His fire was black, sometimes with swirls of red. When he was in the fullness of his power, his flames could melt steel and stone, and fuse sand into glass.

Balerion was the largest of all the Targaryen dragons since Aegon's Conquest. His wingspan was so large that his shadow could engulf entire towns when he passed overhead. His teeth were as long as swords, and his jaws were large enough to swallow an aurochs whole, or even one of the hairy mammoths that are said to roam the cold wastes beyond the Port of Ibben.

Balerion is very similar in looks to Daenerys's dragon Drogon, who might be Balerion's offspring, but Balerion is much larger and older. (That clip is a pretty good guide for how all dragons from this canon behave and move.) There's also a Drogon battle scene here that's a good example of the destructive capabilities of even a smaller dragon (starting at 1:58; violence/burning warning applies). Balerion was also larger than Vhagar (same warnings).

The nature of dragon bonds in this canon mean that whatever dragon comes in would not be rideable by anyone currently in-game. (Technically, Jon Snow has the genetic ability, but it also wouldn't reasonably occur to him to try, so I'm gonna count him out.) However, because of the stress of separation, it's still best if the dragon doesn't have a bonded rider back at home at the time it finds itself in this world. Being a free agent means the dragon will behave normally and explore.

Player Name: Kelsey
Creature Name: Grand Worm (Juvenile)
Canon/Franchise: Trigun Stampede

Description: From the same genus as the dragonfly-like Worms, Grand Worms are the apex predator on No Man's Land. Worms exist as a sort of hivemind, with Grand Worms acting as the pillar; they are interconnected with all other Worms in a given area and communicate by resonating with each other. It is described that other, smaller Worms are the Grand Worm's "detached electron network."

Grand Worms are massive in size, their four-pronged jaws capable of swallowing people, cars, and even buildings. Their insides are cavernous. They are whale-like, and "swim" through sand; they'll feel right at home in the deserts of the Free Cities, but it's likely they can make a home in anything that is not solid rock. Their mere travel through more compact terrain, though, would likely devastate the area if they're able to make their way underground, so simply beaching them is another option. The previously submitted Worms from the first round will flock in areas where there is a Grand Worm.

To meet with the size requirements, the submitted Grand Worm would be a juvenile and would be the size of a large building rather than a full-grown adult which would be tens of sizes larger.

Creature Name: Faust
Canon/Franchise: Devil May Cry

Description: Faust is a demon appearing as a shadowy cloaked figure with a jaunty hat and giant, vibrant pink claws. Their claws can grow to several times their length in an attempt to cut down their prey, and can even detach and float and attack on their own. Hidden underneath most of their "cloak" is a giant bladed tail to be used to split prey in two. They're extremely agile, circling their prey in the air and raining down bladed attacks. All attacks to their "cloak" seemingly do not damage it.

However, repetitive attacks will destroy its shroud and stun the Faust, revealing the creature is actually earwig-like insect in nature, its "face" resembling a human skull. The creature is vulnerable when the cloak has been dispersed.
