Welcome to our OOC intro and CR meme. We encourage you all to get out there, plot, and introduce yourself!

There is no formal introduction log for characters joining the game. Players are free to introduce their characters however they like.

Since the upcoming event is fairly large, we've provided an EVENT BRAINSTORM section for new arrivals to receive offers from existing players, who can invite them into their AU histories and help establish potential connections.

Only new characters may fill out the form for this section, but anyone can reply with suggestions. We encourage current players to reply with ways new characters can be incorporated into the event!

Important Notices

This month contains some important in-game occurrences. Be sure to review the details below!

IC Items

◎ Beginning APRIL 6, shortly after the new arrivals, the storm worsens. Lightning now strikes the ground, and heavy rains have led to flooding - including in the normally dry and arid Free Cities. Conditions have grown from troublesome to outright dangerous. While the major cities are better protected, the effects can still be felt. There will be a mounting death toll (moderate), and water damage to homes and businesses.

◎ Portals between cities are CLOSED in every territory. Because of the instabilities, portal travel has been shut down. Characters can still travel via horse or wagon, but authorities suggest limiting any long journeys due to dangerous weather conditions.

◎ Nocwich is CLOSED this month. Characters from opposing territories will only be able to see each other in the Horizon, which continue to undergo some disturbances.

OOC Items

◎ The upcoming event requires players to sign up for an assignment. Please read this post for more details. New players are encouraged to participate! Signing up only requires putting down your character's name.

◎ We recognize the next event has a lot of elements to consider, especially for new players. We encourage you to contact us if you're feeling a little lost! The goal for our events is to let players be as creative as possible. If you have an idea but are unsure of how to implement it or what the limits are, we're happy to guide you.

A Look Ahead

The OOC Plotting is scheduled for the 12th of this month, while the IC Event Log is scheduled for the 17th. The event will involve a glimpse into the future and will go until May 10.

We have some climatic plots planned into summer due to the domino effect that began with Event #17. However, to make sure characters (and players) have some room to breathe, May will be a quiet month with pieces moving in the background before things pick up once more in June.

IC INFORMATION

CHARACTER NAME: Claire Fraser
CANON: Outlander
SIGN: The Empress
TERRITORY: Solvunn

CHARACTER INFORMATION: Claire is a former WW2 battlefield nurse who inadvertently time-traveled to Scotland, 1747, when she was on her honeymoon. She was orphaned when she was five or six and was raised by her archaeologist uncle. It was a very nomadic life for her, with private tutors and historical finds a large part of her growing up.

After time traveling to the past, she met, married, and then fell in love with Jamie Fraser. Times were not alright, and after three years, various torture, the loss of a child, and war, Claire went back to the 20th century while pregnant. Jamie went off to die in a war (specifically the Battle of Culloden), and Claire raised their daughter with her first husband, Frank. She went to Harvard med, became a world-class surgeon, and generally lived haunted by loss. But surprise, Jamie lived! So, after two decades she goes back to him and that's about when Claire arrived in Abraxas.

As of right now, she lives near the edge of the forest in the primary settlement in a house with a large garden and bee houses. She keeps busy by continuing to help the family she lived with for months, tends animals, helps make communal meals, and visits the other settlements often. Her magic is based around plants, able to grow them at will, speed along crops, and is ever evolving as she learns from others.

Here's more about Claire, and an opt-out just in case. Her canon can rival Game of Thrones at times, seriously.

CR YOU WANT: Here is Claire's AU info! TL;DR she has time magic, so that's cool. I plan on adding to this a lot over the weekend, with more arcana info.

Want to get this lady with someone. It would be a genuine slow burn, shipping her with anyone, but I want to start exploring that with her. She doesn't deserve to be alone forever!

Any parents missing their kids? She misses her daughter a ton.

If your character loves plants, Claire may be for them.

CR YOU DON'T WANT: Negative CR just to be negative. I'm shy about planned negativity, but she's bossy and opinionated, and there are definitely things that could be explored there.

PLOTS/THREADS/THEMES YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: Claire has gone from 'I don't trust or believe in this magic' to 'I might be a magic ho' and I think that's a natural evolution worth exploring if your character has also found themselves leaning in a bit more lately.

Claire WAS planning an archaeological dig, however nothing about the weather has been cooperating with her, so far now it's on hold. This is still something I very much want to do, but game plot comes before that plot! If I can squeeze it in, I will, but I want it to make sense, you know?

I would be thrilled for more CR with Rocket, I enjoyed their thread too, so I'll be looking for a reason to throw her at him!

Claire being a parent-y type is always, always one of my favorite things. It's time for her parental reach to cross territories, so I'm happy to see about tossing them together in the Horizon, or during the event at some point :D We could even say that in 800 years he's become one of her adopted kiddos, I would totally be down for that to kickstart CR!

oooh, i like that idea!!! i have a few ideas for how percy will eventually wind up kind of a poseidon 2.0 eldritch-y inspired god 800 years down the road but in between that time, claire could have been quite a parental presence in his life, helping to keep parts of him grounded or sth like that!

Achilles hasn't seen his son in a decade since he left to get some milk for The War, and he knows he'll never see him again what with that whole fate thing hanging over his head. ye olde deadbeat dad, but He Tried, I guess.

Claire was also not the BEST, most present mom, but she tried. And then when she finally bonded with her, she left and went back 200 years to the past again...but you know. It's the fact that she tried!!

I am still chipping away at what Wrench's AU is going to look like and hoping to have something together by the time event plotting rolls around, but we've got a skeleton. I think in some way the Tertiary Settlement will play heavily into it. If not directly, there's at least going to be strong undertones of Wrench getting close with those in Solvunn who have been outcast, abandoned, or condemned. And maybe shenanigans of a less-than-ideal flavor. (Acceptance of the hand of fate, realization that you are what you do, coming to terms with the fact his life will never be a different way, whatever whatever.)

I'd love love love to deepen his CR with Claire in some way throughout this time, if you'd be down. Frankly, she'd totally be Wrench's Codename: If I Had To Pick A Chick but I'm sure I can be Not Weird about things too.

If Wrench ever needs Claire to rewind time for any those outcast/abandoned, she will 100% do that for him. She will always be there for that sort of thing, helping the less fortunate, getting in the mud/sick/trenches, etc. Call on her Wrench!!

Also, I legit lol'ed at 'If I Had to Pick a Chick' because one of Claire's many husbands is gayer than gay (Lord John in Thorne lmao), so listen. Listen. I cackled.

She is THRIVING with magic, and that's largely in part to Himeka! I think she was probably one of the first to really make her feel comfortable with magic. I would love to come up with a thing for them. Maybe they pair up for festivals or feast days...or something :D

Awww that makes Himeka so happy! She would love to work with Claire in any capacity! I think their combined powers/blessing would be REALLY helpful during either the planting season or harvest time? Extra yield/having it grow quickly and healthily?

I enjoyed their first meeting and would be up for more! He would feel at home in her Horizon. Also up for AU things!! He's forest/knight themed, and the time stuff could be interesting.

Geralt has also grown closer to John so they can also mutually gossip abt him if she wants.

I very much enjoyed our thread too, and Claire loves visitors to her Horizon domain. I would love to mash them together, and maybe even come up with AU stuff! I love all of the wolf aspects to Geralt, and I think Claire would find his presence comforting and even wanted, because he'd make her feel safe :3

But yes, absolutely. Given her importance to John, Geralt would definitely keep an eye on her. I do have Geralt's AU write up here and I love that they have a bit of a matching thing going on between the White Witch and White Wolf haha.

I'm open to a casual over-the-centuries checking in on each other or if you wanted to tangle them up further with some memory/time stuff!

hello yes bees!! cas spent an entire season obsessive over bees instead of dealing with his problems, he's here for it. in the AU cas is going off to hermit himself in a forest and live with the plants and declare it switzerland from summoned-god worship and nonsense. i don't have his AU info written up yet, but maybe he can claire can be buddies. he'll also have a lot of earth related magic

Okay well clearly it's mean to be, with BEES, so it'll be nice to have them bond over that. If there's anything at all involving plants and/or the need to grow them REAL BIG or rewind time for some reason, Claire's your gal. I have a suspicion this event isn't going to be lacking in ways to interact!

cas is going to be hermiting around a forest in the Velan Republic near the border to the godlands and kind of tending to it while looking out for the people that settling there. at some point in the 800 years, he was going to cause a big earthquake/crater thing and basically level a village there that he feels super guilty about for centuries after, so he just hangs around trying to revitalize the land, so maybe claire could help him with regrowth in the forest?

Ooh, I would love to have Teddy involved with Claire -- especially since they're a newbie and Claire seems to have fit right in (and also because yes, Teddy does love bees and plants, and also learning everything, which seems like a good fit for Claire).

Depending on how old Claire's kids are, I can see this being either friendshiply or a little maternal (Teddy's ...late-mid 20s but looks younger; she wouldn't think of herself as 'a kid' but Claire might, especially because she's new).

I am still working on that AU layout ssshhh but current talking to myself about ideas got posted upthread if you want to check it out -- it seems like his powers in the AU might work really well with some of Claire's as well.

Also: weirdly just thought of this. Because Appalachian folk music is SO entangled with ballads/reels/etc and evolution of styles from the whole general English+Scots-Irish+Welsh folk tradition, Teddy might know songs that Claire knows from actually being there, which Teddy would be enthralled by. YOU ACTUALLY KNOW WHICH LYRICS CAME FIRST??

Claire's daughter is right about the same age, so she would tend to go more maternal, but she's good at balancing that with knowing just because youth are Youth-y they don't always need to be mothered. She tends to meet people at their level; if they seem young and unsure, she'll be more maternal, if they're curt, she'll be short in return, etc. etc.

I don't know that Claire would know anything about music of the 18th century (other than the [fictional] Ballad of the Woman of Balnain who I think is her mom but that's a theory for a different post), because she didn't have much down time to just be leisurely. It was a constant battle to stay safe for 3 years before she went back to the 20th century and ultimately America. Then when she went back in time again, she spent all of a couple of weeks in Scotland before she was on a ship to Jamacia. Later in her canon she'll have settled in the backwoods of North Carolina, but she isn't there yet.

She DOES know a lot about myths, historical moments of significance, was probably there when they unearthed a few tombs in Egypt, etc. So Teddy can feel free to grill her, and Claire would answer everything to the best of her ability. And if she can't answer it, she knows someone who can, and she would tell her to seek out a man called The Doctor!
