OOC Intro and CR Meme

Welcome to our OOC intro and CR meme. We encourage you all to get out there, plot, and introduce yourself!

There is no formal introduction log for characters joining the game. Players are free to introduce their characters however they like.

Since the upcoming event is fairly large, we've provided an EVENT BRAINSTORM section for new arrivals to receive offers from existing players, who can invite them into their AU histories and help establish potential connections.

Only new characters may fill out the form for this section, but anyone can reply with suggestions. We encourage current players to reply with ways new characters can be incorporated into the event!

Important Notices

This month contains some important in-game occurrences. Be sure to review the details below!

IC Items

◎ Beginning APRIL 6, shortly after the new arrivals, the storm worsens. Lightning now strikes the ground, and heavy rains have led to flooding - including in the normally dry and arid Free Cities. Conditions have grown from troublesome to outright dangerous. While the major cities are better protected, the effects can still be felt. There will be a mounting death toll (moderate), and water damage to homes and businesses.

◎ Portals between cities are CLOSED in every territory. Because of the instabilities, portal travel has been shut down. Characters can still travel via horse or wagon, but authorities suggest limiting any long journeys due to dangerous weather conditions.

◎ Nocwich is CLOSED this month. Characters from opposing territories will only be able to see each other in the Horizon, which continue to undergo some disturbances.

OOC Items

◎ The upcoming event requires players to sign up for an assignment. Please read this post for more details. New players are encouraged to participate! Signing up only requires putting down your character's name.

◎ We recognize the next event has a lot of elements to consider, especially for new players. We encourage you to contact us if you're feeling a little lost! The goal for our events is to let players be as creative as possible. If you have an idea but are unsure of how to implement it or what the limits are, we're happy to guide you.

A Look Ahead

The OOC Plotting is scheduled for the 12th of this month, while the IC Event Log is scheduled for the 17th. The event will involve a glimpse into the future and will go until May 10.

We have some climatic plots planned into summer due to the domino effect that began with Event #17. However, to make sure characters (and players) have some room to breathe, May will be a quiet month with pieces moving in the background before things pick up once more in June.

Start a fire in a cafeteria trashcan to sacrifice some lunch for Hades? Kick a wizard in the shins and tell him he's hallucinating that mouse skeleton? Let me know on a scale of accidentally destroying a fruit basket to running from someone you shouldn't have punched in the face how much chaos you'd like.

PLOTS/THREADS/THEMES YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: I'm having an incredibly stressful time at work, so right now I'm hoping for threads that are fun. Fun has no real metric, but I'm not looking for stick-your-fingers-in-trauma threads just yet. Maybe in a few weeks when I'm not putting out metaphorical fires all day.

Hello! So hey, here's Zagreus, also son of Hades. Have a surprise big brother?

Will has already told Zag about Nico, so he does currently know that Nico exists (and will likely take Will's lead for how to introduce them). But yes, Zagreus will be very happy to meet him! Even if he does find it strange how he seems to keep learning about alternate universe half siblings here.

Nico… has an established tendency (if once can be a tendency) to barnacle himself to siblings from another mother, so expect Zagreus to be his new ride or die.

I mean, if you look at both Hazel and Bianca you could just say that 'Nico barnacles himself to siblings, period' XD

But yes, Zagreus will be happy for Nico to be ride or die! He's new to being a sibling though, so Zagreus will be working it out as they go (at his point in canon, he's an only child)

Also - as far as I recall, I don't think Zagreus ever makes an appearance in PJO canon. But he is an actual god from Greek myth, so happy for you to decide whether or not there's an alternate PJO version of him.

Okay, been googling, and while Melinoe is mentioned in PJO, Zagreus and Macaria aren't. Not sure what to do with that really - I think it might be safest to assume that there is a Zagreus. It doesn't preclude them getting to know each other at all.

If you know the canon, you know that Nico's this weird demigod exception that actually sometimes lives with his godly parent? Like somehow the other gods are such shit with their demigod kids that Hades is The Good Parent. It absolutely makes sense to me that he'd want to get to know Zagreus, if Zag wasn't trying to turn him into a potted fern or anything.

I am indeed familiar with PJO canon! (And in a rather roundabout what, PJO is also kinda how I ended up picking up Zagreus, haha) Don't worry Nico, Zagreus is an actually nice god, who does not turn people into plants!

Anyhow - in Hades, Melinoe is set to appear in the sequel but hasn't yet been born in the first game / at the time of Zagreus's canon point. And PJO Zagreus doesn't need to be anything like Hades's Zagreus - there's so little known about the actual mythological god that they largely invented him wholesale.

I feel like Nico and Apollo had already reached kind of a comfortable place in TOA (as comfortable as he'll get with people who aren't Will ~~or Dylan~~ pre-tsats anyway) so it'll be nice for Apollo to have someone he can share some more relaxed banter and fuss over Will with.

Nico likes Apollo well enough, but is going to be immediately exhausted upon seeing that he's here, because whether it's Apollo or Lester, he means trouble.

Jesper here is in the Free Cities as well, he's a very extroverted and friendly person and loves befriending serious introverts! You might say it's his favorite thing. He's chattery and warm and has cool super powers, so he'd be interested in learning more about Nico!

divinityfrompain in Solvunn who has a contentious relationship with Will at the moment although they're doing a little better lol. They'll get there, they just had a bad first meeting. She's a pagan goddess, formerly a human, and technically related to her world's Persephone but she doesn't love (currently) being reminded of that.

Third is Istredd in Thorne

magicalarchaeologist, the nerdiest mage to nerd from the Witcher. He's very serious and a scholar and historian.

Extroverts... why... Actually, Nico likes being in the presence of extroverts, so that could work, although I note he's a bit older than Nico.

Persephone... does not like Nico and has, in fact, turned him into a dandelion. That information might be a teeeeeeny bit prejudicial if he finds it out before meeting her.

Does... does Istredd's info say he's 80 or 90?

Yes but that won't bother him! He actually came to game younger, he's just been here for awhile lol. He's nice to everyone.

Few people hate Persephone more than Julia herself. She's had only bad experiences with the greek gods so that's fun. Will might tell him that she almost burned his face off once so. Anyway! lol

Yeah, in Istredd's world mages live hundreds of years. He spent like half of his life being an archaeologist and hanging out in tombs and around monoliths (gates to other worlds that are giant rocks). He's very socially awkward although this place has forced him to be better. He is a natural introvert.

And Nico's used to being the baby of the group, so that tracks.

Yeah if he finds out she almost burned Will's face off, it's probably not going to go well at all.

Jasper might be the best bet, introvert + introvert is usually a struggle to get a thread rolling.
