EVENT #3 OOC POST

EVENT #3/JAILBREAK OOC PLOTTING
As of this thread, Relena has been returned to the dungeons to reunite with the other prisoners! However, she will have little time to do so, because immediately following her return, JAILBREAK WILL COMMENCE.

Things to note:

  • There will be no NPC interaction with Ambrose, Oliver or Elizabeth. Ambrose is frozen and cannot speak. Oliver and Elizabeth are enemies of Thorne who only wished to open the portals. As of the end of the post, they have left and will not return for the time being.
  • Everyone's powers have been restored, but powers cannot be used to force other characters to stay in Thorne or make a different decision. IC, this is due to the massive amounts of magic currently in use. Characters have to use their words to figure out where they're going to go and convince their friends to join them.
  • When the hour is up, the portals will close and the natives will be unfrozen. If your character is still in Thorne at that time, then they are stuck in Thorne.
  • The three cities do not like each other, and your characters will not be able to travel between cities yet. However, this does not mean that communications between characters who are separated will cease! All characters still have access to the Horizon and may visit each other there. If your character has not yet visited the Horizon, they will first need to join another character who has gone there (via physical contact), and they will then have access to their own Horizon.
    • But characters who begin spending too much time in the Horizon may become suspicious to natives, who will worry that secrets are being shared with their enemies!
  • Any prisoners who choose to stay in Thorne will be rearrested. Thornean authorities will be treating all characters with great suspicion and distrust, but previously welcomed guests may be able to establish their loyalty via information sharing and acts of service.
    • If you would like for your character to remain in Thorne but not be rearrested, they can use this opportunity to flee Thorne proper for the neighboring town of Nott. This will allow them to remain close enough to keep tabs on Thorne while also not being at risk of imprisonment.
  • Thornean authorities will not chase escapees. To do so would necessitate sending their armies against those of Solvunn and the Free Cities, and they do not yet see the need for all-out war.
  • More information about Solvunn and the Free Cities can be found here, but this is not information that characters will have during their hour of decision-making. Oliver's advice to choose based on each locations' relationship to the Singularity is all they really have to go on.
  • Individual posts for Solvunn and the Free Cities will be going up within the next few days. These posts will have more information about each location, as well as the opportunity for NPC interaction in each.
  • Please use this post to plot with each other where your characters will go, how they will decide to group together, and how they will attempt to convince each other to stay or leave!

Well shit, I really need to read Drakengard now. That isn't at all what I expected but I love it? That...living through moments of experience mixed with nihilism sort of thing.

I'd be very curious about his growing CR with Emet-Selch since the man was really also all about bringing about destruction also with the end goal to save the world (his world), though their motivations are very different.

Somewhat ironically Himeka is that person running around trying to save the world and watching nations fall in the process...but also seeing people come through as well. She's kind of going through a bit of an identity crisis at the moment and isn't really sure if what she's doing is because she's a good person who does good things, or she's just doing the things that are expected of her. I.E. fighting gods, saving the world, etc. I'd be interested to see if they could ever get to the point where these things could come to head.

...Louis has questions about this organic monster leg prosthetic. If it gives him more mobility than the normal prosthetic, he's very interested, but also wondering what the catch is.

Kay's probably going to tackle/hug her, she'll be so relieved to see her "thief buddy" in one piece. Let me know if you wanna thread that reunion out :')

She'd also definitely want to get the details about where Relena's been this whole time, so if she can't get the info from Relena herself before picking a portal she'll likely ask Estinien or Himeka. Solvunn already sounded like the best bet to her, and the rest of her cell mates going there is definitely going to solidify her choice. She'll voice her solidarity with the three of them pretty clearly.

[personal profile] stealsthetruth 2021-08-25 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
We kind of discussed this already but just to reiterate in a place where I'm not likely to lose this, Kay is definitely going to want to check in with him before any of them go anywhere.

More importantly, now that I know she's going there for sure, I can absolutely say that she'd openly declare the cell 1 gang going to Solvunn to be a pretty important factor in her decision. The four of them (plus Phoenix) are officially a team now, because she says so.

She's also gonna be pretty jealous of his cool dragon man mode. Like, she's glad she can turn into a bird, but what the heck??? She wants dragon claws!

[personal profile] stealsthetruth 2021-08-25 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
Kay definitely going to Solvunn as well, with her prison pals heading there being one of the important factors in her decision to do so!

I know group threads can get kind of clunky, but also it might be fun to have all four of them consult before heading out.

[personal profile] aquaveiled 2021-08-25 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yes!! I keep meaning to poke you since Himeka hasn't spoken to her really since the trip to Hayle. She's gotten to hear things from Relena and Estinien, though, unless you wanted to handwave some sort of check-in?

But the OG Cell One crew definitely needs to meet up! And man, they can finally get into some good old FOOL shenanigans out in the wild.
stealsthetruth: (Yes DO go on...)

[personal profile] stealsthetruth 2021-08-25 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
God yes, FOOLS UNITE

If you're cool with handwaving, she definitely would have come down to visit them in the dungeons as much as she could feasibly get away with! With smuggled extra rations in tow, of course. (Frankly she has probably been down there more than a person on probation should risk, but what is she supposed to do? That's where all her friends live! )= )

She would also have been keeping the two of them up to date on her own efforts to find Relena, though she consistently failed to turn anything up the whole time, so she would never have had much of substance to report on.

Maybe if you ask the Singularity super nicely your wish will be granted.

He's actually pretty scared about it for canon-based reasons (you know, like, being nonconsensually transformed into a dragon and all that) but hey, at least the claws are useful.

He will be happy to hear that she is coming with them, though!! He kind of missed having her around all the time. Now they can be on equal ground again. And he's certainly glad she isn't staying in Thorne.

Misty's gunning for Solvunn, and there's little to say beyond that - unless someone previously friendly seems especially stuck on the decision she isn't likely to debate it with them - they're your values, you've got to pick them. Solvunn to her seems the safest bet for 1. Not Dying, and 2. Regrouping, Potentially Gathering Information, and Making A Better Informed Decision Later (If You Must) Without The Pressure Of Imminent Death.

High odds she's going to be very inclined to spending free time in the Horizon, so there's potential for native trouble down the line there.

Default is flying solo as she's not looking to link up with anyone in particular, but if she runs into someone headed the same way who doesn't seem unpleasant she's likely to gravitate despite herself. Safety in numbers, and all.

Okay if Jon contacts Phoenix to ask him to shepherd Martin into the Horizon? Martin's going to Solvunn and Jon's going to FC.

I'm ok with Sasarai knowing where small blond elf went! we could handwave some initial interaction, if you like, or have them meet up in the Horizon at some point. Link will still be interested in the goings-on at Thorne wrt the Singularity (more out of genuine concern for its impact on their own worlds than any seditious reasoning)

I'm realizing how glad I am that they both had the same destination in mind because after reuniting with Himeka and Estinien and Relena and finding out they're also going to Solvunn, she's going to be very gung-ho about following them to their destination. Congrats defense attorney dad, you're now an honorary member of dungeon cell 1 team, LET'S GOOOOO

Awww, she missed you too pal!

Would he clue her in on his suspicions about the information they got from Anastasia and how that's a factor in leading him to Solvunn? Because she would be all about helping with that. Mystery teen have got to mystery solve, it's important for their enrichment.

[personal profile] coerthantorment 2021-08-25 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, as much as he's certain of it himself, he'll mention that he thinks Solvunn is the place Anastasia was talking about. I believe she referred to it as "that damn commune" when describing it, and out of the two options presented, that sounds much more like how Solvunn was described than the Free Cities (a city is far from being a commune, after all). At the very least, Solvunn sounds closer to where he's trying to go.

He's definitely open with that info to people who are looking at going to Solvunn, which is that he thinks it might be where the mage that penned the Stupid Book went after being exiled.

Hennessy - Thorne (for now)

[personal profile] impressionism 2021-08-25 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Hennessy is going to attempt to make a run for the Free Cities, but she's going to be intercepted on her way to the portal by her best frenemy, Ronan, and ultimately prevented from leaving.

I'm down for CR with other fleeing folks on the way, and/or people who are eventually getting reimprisoned. She's gonna be mad as hell about all of this, naturally, so if you wanna make friends with someone who will eventually be able to dream neat stuff into existence for you, here's your chance to get on her good side!

Just barrel her right over. She needs a big hug tbh.

She will give them to her as quickly as possible!! She can go into more detail once they're in Solvunn for sure. She'll have a little round table with the Crew.

JAILBREAK TIME!!!!!!!

SAM will have been at the execution, and at the sudden and immediate Frozone Moment, he's going to be getting Jon off the gallows and out of his bindings/situation with Coraline, and then shepherding Jon right on out of here.

After that, Sam is going to be a very busy bee, with his interactions including, but not limited to:
- checking in on anyone who is not frozen to see what they want to do and, if they don't know, trying to help them make a decision. He's not going to force anyone to do something they don't want to, but he will be adamant about people making a decision and then helping them with whatever that decision is.

- making sure/doing his best to make sure NO ONE is hurting/messing with/attempting to attack any of the frozen Thorneans. He won't fight anyone, necessarily, but he will step in and try to stop any attacks from happening. It's going to be a very 'hey we have a chance here don't fuck it up for everyone else' sort of vibe, so if you have characters wanting the safety patron to show up and ruin their fun, Sam can be that.

- anyone/everyone who was in the horizon AND/OR Sam has close CR with, he is going to take extra care to not only check in, but try to convince to go to the Free Cities, which is where he will be headed. Again, he's not going to force anyone anywhere they don't want to be, but he will try to persuade, and if persuasion isn't working, then will tell them to come meet him in his house at the Horizon. And then will probably either give them a hug or a clap on the shoulder or a handshake and tell them to take care of themselves and they know where to find him if they need anything.

- Sam is going to wait until the last possible moment before going through the portal, mostly because he refuses to leave anyone behind. He's going to want to make sure everyone who wants to leave can leave.
Blanket reminder I am up to thread any of this out OR just handwave that it happens, just let me know either way!

Now as for YENNEFER. Girl's got her powers back and there is no making her do anything. She's going to be heading up with the rest of the Witcher family and making sure they get off through their portals, etc. But she, in the end, will be staying in Thorne/at the castle. And once her family is gone/sent off, she is going to be returning and, probably after showing off with her powers a little, taking the stance of protecting Ambrose/the guards/etc.

She's not going to be doing as much during the hour itself, other than gathering as much information as she can about what happened, how it happened, and taking note of who all is going to Solvunn, especially. When the hour is up, she's going to be reimprisoned without putting up much of a fight at all and then afterwards is going to be leveraging anything and everything she learned to get herself out of those cells.

Sam is definitely going to want to check on Relena - either before she goes back through the portal because he's been WORRIED ABOUT HER or he can find her in the Horizon!!!

ven if it's a super quick before she gets tossed into the portal Sam will want to give her a hug and tell her where he's going and that they should talk later about what happened/etc. He was so worried about her ;-;

Amos is going to head to Solvunn initially. OOC, I think he's a better fit for/want him to end up in the Free Cities for a variety of reasons, but based on what he knows ICly, his first instinct would be Solvunn.

He's been on edge in prison for a while and since returning from the Horizon ready to snap/Fight Everyone, but everyone being frozen is going to take the wind right out of those sails, leaving him with no outlet for his pent-up energy (unless anyone wants to do a PCs throwdown!). He'll also have just enough awareness to recognize that if Solvunn is reclusive and neutral, that might be his best chance to mitigate any damage he's on the verge of doing: in his mind, he needs to be out of sight, out of mind, away from other people/society for the good of everyone, so, reclusive and neutral is probably better for that than a military power.

Also he suddenly has gravity powers he's never had before so I'm sure that'll work out totally fine as a live wire in a highly stressful situation. That said, I don't really have any plans for him during the escape; he's probably just gonna reach the conclusion that Solvunn is for the best for him and go; that said, I'm still down for whatever.

As for actually being in Solvunn, I have no idea if he's going to take to it or not, if he'll be able to handle daily life there or not (especially when dude really needs to get into a good bar fight or whatever first to release some tension). While I still ultimately want him to end up in the Free Cities, I don't want to force it; if he takes to Solvunn then he takes to Solvunn, I guess! Though that sure will be demoralizing if he doesn't, so, kinda hoping for that outcome, but that's probably further down the line.

Brad, meanwhile, is perfectly happy to stay in Thorne. Thorne's awesome, he doesn't know what the rest of your guys' problem is — high fantasy and a public execution? It's all the dorky and also dark shit he's ever wanted. He doesn't mind that he'll be treated with suspicion and distrust; hey, if he were in Thorne's position that's exactly what he'd do, too. That said, he's not exactly going to have a lot to actually... do... during this event, as a regular human who's still pretty new here, so, rip, but hanging out with any other Thorne thots would be great.

Since he's new he's not going to have a whole lot to offer in the way of information, but acts of service, sure, he can do that. It's less about taking Thorne's side in the overall conflict and more that he sees the most opportunity for himself in Thorne and is interested in ascending the ranks. Not for like, usurping or anything. Just, you know, standard power accumulation, but he's cool with saying whatever to help him get there. He might even mean some of it, who knows!

He's still gotta get access to the Horizon at some point if anyone wants to help out there. Also he needs a sword. For reasons.

Re: QUESTIONS

So because Harrow and Gideon cannot be separated through sheer force of intense teenage girl necromancer will, they seem to be heading toward going to one place first ... but at least one is very interested in the other (Harrow wants to go to Solvunn, and IIRC there was a factions post talking about what each area would have at one point that made it suit her best; Gideon wants to go to the Free Cities, and will most likely win the first round of arguing). Thus: Will they be able to change cities at some point?

Since I'm not sure how long Harrow will be able to put up with the wanting to destroy the Singularity bit, but she absolutely is yielding to Gideon. When IC makes the OOC hard!
