WELCOME TO YOUR NEW FACTION!

TIME TO EXPLORE
Welcome to three new cities! Now that your characters have access to new places, we wanted to give you all the information you need to start shaping the world of Abraxas. Each of these pages contains a basic outline of each city's setting and important people. Some of these people will be available for NPC interaction on the IC posts for each city.

Please feel free to learn about
Solvunn / The Free Cities / Nott

YOUR NEW FACTION
We know you may have questions about what a new faction means for your characters. Don't worry — we have written a guide to help you explore your options.

We would again like to stress that this world is yours to mold! We encourage you to do things like name the shops and create the NPCs that work in them! Dream up the things held in the museums. Decide what styles of clothing and food can be found. Anything you can think of! All we ask is that you keep the general setting and attitude of each locale intact. If you find yourself truly stumped as to whether something is allowed, please ask us.

NPC INTERACTION
For each new city post, we are offering NPC interactions! The available options are

    Solvunn
    ✒︎Rowan March

    The Free Cities
    ✒︎Prime Minister Marlo Reiner

    Nott
    ✒︎Lord of Representatives Lyle Vela

    Castle Thorne
    ✒︎Jolene Sybell

At Castle Thorne, Jolene Sybell will be conducting the interrogations (with assistance from some angry guards). All characters will be interrogated, but the actual thread is optional. If your character wouldn't have much to say and isn't willing to flip on the others, they will be released without much hassle.

Due to mod availability, please take into consideration how your character would receive being interrogated before requesting an NPC thread. Handwaving is perfectly acceptable!

We will be accepting NPC threads until Friday, September 3rd at 11:59PM EST. If you have tagged the NPC thread by that time, you will receive a response! And please, remember that your mods are regular humans with full-time jobs, so while we will do everything in our power to tag expeditiously, your patience is appreciated.

THE HORIZON
And just as a note, please remember that characters cannot yet travel between cities, but they are welcome to visit each other in the Horizon! Characters who have not yet been there can be introduced to it via physical touch from a character who has been there and can take them there, and all first timers in the Horizon experience memory loss.

hi mods! jumping in on this question specifically but about how long does it take to travel between the cities? the pages mention wagons, but are they about day-long trips, multiple days, half a day, etc?

thank you!

Sorry to tack onto this but are portals pretty accessible throughout the city in that case? Or are the characters effectively meant to be isolated for long periods of time away from other sections of the city once they've chosen a place to stay?

Edit: Sorry, you can disregard this question, when you said a few weeks I thought it was referring to the horse-drawn travel with the wagons etc but I see now from below you meant on foot and horse travel is much faster which makes more sense! Thank you for clarifying.

Sorry to jump in, but weeks makes me want to know if there's a set distance between the cities, or if they're supposed to be basically city-states? Weeks on foot is equivalent to walking on foot across, like, several (large) U.S. states. Does that mean it takes literally half a year (a year??) to travel back to Thorne or several months to go to any other kingdom without magical travel? Is there easily accessible portaling between the cities themselves?

Ohh, that makes sense! Thank you for the details. Time to start working on grabbing a horse.

Are there provided portals between the Free Cities, then? Or someone who could be hired to make one? With enough coin, could Jaskier conceivably hire a portal to take him to another of the three cities? I'd love to get a handle on how much inter-travel is encouraged/achievable.

And asking on behalf for Quix/Estinien: is there a similar ability to get portals in Solvunn to jump between settlements?

Is there anything like that in Solvunn for getting to the other settlements? Specifically, portals, since Solvunn is a bit more magically inclined.

Thank you! Sorry to bug the heck out of you guys. I edited in an additional question:

Asking on behalf for Quix/Estinien: is there a similar ability to get portals in Solvunn to jump between settlements?

I appreciate all the work on answering all these numerous questions!!
