Welcome to three new cities! Now that your characters have access to new places, we wanted to give you all the information you need to start shaping the world of Abraxas. Each of these pages contains a basic outline of each city's setting and important people. Some of these people will be available for NPC interaction on the IC posts for each city.

We know you may have questions about what a new faction means for your characters. Don't worry — we have written a guide to help you explore your options.

We would again like to stress that this world is yours to mold! We encourage you to do things like name the shops and create the NPCs that work in them! Dream up the things held in the museums. Decide what styles of clothing and food can be found. Anything you can think of! All we ask is that you keep the general setting and attitude of each locale intact. If you find yourself truly stumped as to whether something is allowed, please ask us.

NPC INTERACTION

For each new city post, we are offering NPC interactions! The available options are

At Castle Thorne, Jolene Sybell will be conducting the interrogations (with assistance from some angry guards). All characters will be interrogated, but the actual thread is optional. If your character wouldn't have much to say and isn't willing to flip on the others, they will be released without much hassle.

Due to mod availability, please take into consideration how your character would receive being interrogated before requesting an NPC thread. Handwaving is perfectly acceptable!

We will be accepting NPC threads until Friday, September 3rd at 11:59PM EST. If you have tagged the NPC thread by that time, you will receive a response! And please, remember that your mods are regular humans with full-time jobs, so while we will do everything in our power to tag expeditiously, your patience is appreciated.

THE HORIZON

And just as a note, please remember that characters cannot yet travel between cities, but they are welcome to visit each other in the Horizon! Characters who have not yet been there can be introduced to it via physical touch from a character who has been there and can take them there, and all first timers in the Horizon experience memory loss.

Hello! Two questions:

1. What's the legal system in Solvunn? Or is it less formal than that?

2. What, if any, organized crime is there in Libertas and/or Aquila? And how possible is it for Louis to weasel his way into becoming a manager of one of their businesses (probably by tipping them off to an existing manager stealing money from them)?

1. The legal system in Solvunn consists of the three council members that preside as judge and jury, though the community's thoughts and wellbeing on the matter are taken into consideration.

2. There's organized crime in all three of the Free Cities. Protection schemes, smuggling, black market drug rings... you'll find it all! While it's not very difficult to get in with any of these groups, they're slow to trust and need a lot of proof of commitment. But promotion from within is a time honored organized crime tradition, so it's an achievable goal for Louis to work toward! By working hard and earning trust, he could see a promotion in just a couple of months.

To confirm: We cannot travel between cities in general, but those in the Free Cities can move about Cadens, Libertas and Aquila, correct?

1. Considering it's only three people, would there be any room for a clerk to help record Solvunn's affairs and organize it for the leaders?

2. How powerful is the organized crime in the cities? Do they influence politicians, or are they mostly small-time rackets?

1. There could certainly be room for a clerk, though they are unlikely to accept an outsider without a few of the local families vouching for their character.

2. Small time rackets, the most influence they have at this time is bribing local guards to look the other way.

If Relena tried to ask Rowan about Oliver (cause she's hella curious about her savior) would he or anyone in Solvunn be at least vaguely awares of him since they're deep in that Old Gods life or would it be a very 'I have no idea what you're babbling about' kind of convo?

1) Would characters who have been heretofore cooperative with Thorne be treated the same as everyone else?

2) Hennessy and Ronan will be dreaming together by the time everyone gets rounded up and he would refuse to leave her side. Will he be able to persuade them to let her stay with him in his room until the interrogation process is over or will they both end up in the dungeon until they're questioned?

Can Nero (and anyone who wants to help) do murders to pirates and steal their goods to give to the Solvunn community to resell?

1. How hard would it be to get that kind of character reference? Alternatively, are there libraries or galleries that require administrators?

2. How corrupt or legitimate are the actual leaders of the Cities? Are there paths to legitimate influence through politics or business available to an off-worlder?

1. Everyone is treated the same until interrogation (so just confined to their room/cell). The Thorneans are not being hostile toward cooperative characters, but those characters are still witnesses who need to be questioned. Jolene is also aware of who has, so far, been in Ambrose's good book, and her interrogations will reflect that. If you are choosing to handwave the interrogation, you can say that Jolene simply asked Ronan what happened, thanked him and sent him on his merry way, free as a bird.

2. We've discussed this, and yes, they can stay together, but Ronan will have to join Hennessy in the dungeon, rather than the other way around.

He is free to do a little murder, as a treat. But he should note that too many dead bodies, even pirates, will soon raise questions.

1. Not terribly hard, but it does require a bit of manual labor. Help out the community and they’ll help you. Their library is quite modest compared to Thorne, but there is a librarian and the galleries take volunteers.

2. We don't want to spill all the beans on the NPCs at once! But the citizens of the Free Cities will tell you that the Prime Minister is above corruption.

Rowan is aware of Oliver and what his group does, but has never interacted with him. His opinion certainly isn’t favorable, but he would not say so directly.

Sweet! About how long will they be down there before they're questioned? And if Ronan cooperates with the interrogation, will he be able to get Hennessy out of the dungeon? He'd be willing to vouch for her/take the punishment for whatever crimes she might pull going forward.

They would be there for at most a few hours, and yes, with Ronan's cooperation and vouch, they would be willing to free Hennessy after her interrogation.

1. Luckily, Phoenix is willing to do manual labor and volunteer his services to get in people's good graces. He won't be particularly good at the manual labor, but he'll try very hard to be good at it.

2. Are there any jobs working as a clerk for politicians in the Free Cities? Presumably it'll be hard to get a job for the Prime Minister, but for one of the more minor politicians?

2. Yes, he could easily find work as a clerk or scribe in a lesser politician's office.

Another Solvunn question to be sure I have their attitude right:

1) Is it reasonable for characters to settle in any of the settlements/are they exempt from the "immigrants go to the tertiary settlement" rule?

2) Solvunn is described as having pretty short workdays and valuing free time culturally. Would they find it at all weird and distasteful for one of the new arrivals to put in much longer hours than everyone else? Or are they just kind of like "you do you" when it comes to that stuff?

A couple of questions about the Thorne NPC thread:

Kylo has been working with Thornean mages as discussed here, and the mod team had offered me suggestions for involvement which appeared to have an upcoming trigger point that seems in conflict with the way all characters remaining in Thorne are being treated. Should I go ahead and tag Jolene, or is there something else in the works?

If the plan is to have these things develop from that thread, could you let me know if Jolene had already been involved in Kylo's work?

What is the monster/wildlife situation like in the Free Cities? Is there anything in the outskirts that might be a nuisance and/or has valuable properties that merchants/alchemists might want? Asking for a friend.
