ABOUT YOU: I'm an old nerd who's presently living her best TalesOf life before FFXIV Endwalker consumes me in November. I live in Ireland, play a lot of Destiny 2, got addicted to Minecraft this year, and generally enjoy a good mix of old and new fandoms. I really like chocolate, I love complaining about the weather, and am here for squee enthusiasm as needed.

CHARACTER NAME: Rinwell
CANON: Tales of Arise
SIGN: The Magician
FACTION: Free Cities

CHARACTER INFORMATION: Rinwell is a young lady from Dahna, a world that was conquered and has been under the thumb of their nearest planetary neighbour Rena for the last 300 years, and she's pretty damn bitter about it. She grew up in the frozen north of her world, Cyslodia, and is pretty secretive and suspicious. However, she is also Dahnan with a rather unusual secret: she is capable of casting astral artes (aka magic), something believed previously to only be possible by the Renans, and little more than an old folk tale amongst the natives (if that). She's a huge nerd for books, history and relics, and has the sweetest tooth this side of Elde Menancia.

She's been plucked from the middle of her adventures with her JRPG party and fished out of the pool at the Caden Outpost, so she is most definitely in need of some friends.

TALES OF ARISE NOTE: This game came out last month and everyone should play it I will do my upmost to keep spoilers to an absolute minimum outside of what the game introduces early on. I'll also mark any tags with spoiler warnings if/when something comes up that I can't dance around evasively like a 14 year old trying not to be caught lying.

CR YOU WANT: "ALL THE THINGS" but people who like history, PEOPLE WHO LIKE OWLS, fellow book enthusiasts, people who like/aren't afraid of magic, and people good at herding little trauma kittens who can't trust but really really want to.
CR YOU DON'T WANT: Not really interested in corruption at this time, or major enemy/bad rivalries.
PLOTS/THREADS/THEMES YOU'RE INTERESTED IN:
She absolutely needs some friends and found family mk2 now that she's lost hers! Rinwell will be avoiding revealing herself as a full mage, but will cop to being sensitive to magical energy. So she'll take time to warm up to people before she admits to what she can do. She'll be actively scouting for books that she can use as a replacement weapon foci. If you use magic and have absolutely no fear of showing off that fact (especially in a place like the Free Cities), you may find you have her attention more than most!

bummer of all bummers, yuri is in solvunn, but they should absolutely talk over the network or the horizon! who better to herd trauma kids with trust issues than yuri tbh

I have noticed that Sypha checks most of those boxes (jury's out on her opinion of owls!)! Perhaps if she sees Sypha using magic with casual impunity, she'll get to feeling more comfortable?

YES I would love that! I adored Sypha in Castlevania, and her magic style is very different to what Rinwell uses. A tiny nerd will absolutely want to get to know her.

AHH RINWELL I was so happy to see a Tales of Arise character apping in already ;o;

Jaskier is not so much into adopting children, but he essentially acts like a teenager so I could see them getting along pretty easily! Being in Abraxas is his first time ever having any sort of magic and he uses it to show off and basically make light shows when he performs as a bard.

Also, I think it'd be cute to bond over birds. His first spell was learning to make illusionary birds and he has trained himself up enough he can make real birds out of magic. Most of his have been pretty songbirds, but he made a very cool falcon for Sam. It's time to upgrade to owls!!

I think she'd be delighted by his conjuring owls!! Once she gets to Horizon, the current plan is for her magic gift from it to be "Summon Hootle", so he'd get proper Dahnan owlet to copy too! c:
