There is no formal introduction log for characters joining the game, which means that players are free to introduce their characters however they would like.

Upcoming modplot will be announced on the OOC community and signal boosted on Plurk! Event #7's OOC plotting post is scheduled for the 13th of this month, while the IC event post itself is scheduled to go up on the 16th. Stay tuned! Characters might discover there's something to the Singularity's Eye after all...

ABOUT YOU: I work as a full time mental health therapist, I share memes, and gripe about books. Been stuck playing Elden Ring and so that's become my recent love on top of Critically Acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV(TM). I haven't roleplayed or been in a game for about 2 years so please forgive my slow and rustiness.

CHARACTER INFORMATION: Y'shtola is a magical cat (cue Cats music) lady who is infinitely curious about the world(s) beyond what she knows, specifically around the arcane nature of life, how it works, and how it relates to people. More specifically, she's just jazzed about magic itself. Once a healer and now just the avatar of destruction*, she continues to work towards keeping her world - and the multitudes of worlds out there - safe against any kind of danger. Personality-wise, she's aloof but naturally inquisitive about others, will talk your ear off with questions if you let her, and is a pretty decent sort once you get to know her. Just, y'know, reckless at times like anyone else.

(* - this is a joke, please don't throw tomatoes at me, I'm funny, I swear :c )

CR YOU WANT: I know people get tired of the 'EVERYTHING' response so I'll break a few options down:
• People who know more than her about this world, its workings, and specifically its political, social, and magical climate? You're on notice. She wants all the info.
• She can be your angl healer if you REALLY need it but...you know...there are better options. And she will scold you. And possibly roast you. (Possibly literally.)
• Explorer, adventurer, heroic types. Will you frustrate her with your possibly reckless decisions? Absolutely. But you are also the most likely to 1) get shit done and 2) figure shit out, so she will also want to keep an eye on or befriend you.
• Witchy and not-so-witchy ladies! This is my personal pref because Y'shtola has girl friends in earlier days of canon and I'd just love that more for her?
• People who will drag her away from her studies or her work because she is being a recluse who's more interested in discovering cool shit than taking a break.
• While the end goal would probably be to have Y'shtola be...vulnerable and open up to people and change a little, I apologize because she's a slow-burn kind of gal for deep friendships and trust, but she is absolutely a Ride or Die person for those she intensely cares for (and seriously, she will throw her life aside if it means saving the majority/people she loves) so it's worth it but it's...a long haul, I'm so sorry.
• You know what, I'm just gonna be real about MY wishes, that if you play a jerk or baddie and you want some antagonistic banter, I want it.
• ...on that note, if you just want any kind of quippy, snippy banter, even as friends, I'm also here for it pls and ty.

CR YOU DON'T WANT: I can't think of anything right now but will totally say something if I figure it out.

PLOTS/THREADS/THEMES YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: OH BOY /unfurls list
• Gimme the deep lore. I am 100000% in to throwing Y'shtola right into the thick of discovering the world's secrets, especially if it pertains to magic, but I'm also a sucker for politics. Just...Y'shtola is a blunt if diplomatic creature, so maybe don't let her be in charge of anything resembling negotiations unless necessary.
• Magical plots, so I'm super interested in the Singularity/Horizon, and Y'shtola in general will prefer to be shoulder-deep in magical theory and experimenting and figuring out cool shit.
• Which also means she'd be interested in learning more magic because she's greedy af about that. And I would be down to play out her teaching others, though that might take a while and you'll need to rank up on her trust/friend list unless plot makes it seem like a dire choice.
• Fraternization across cities. Less so the "let's buck the system" and more the route of "more knowledge and more eyes are better than fewer." So in the interest of sharing insights...
• I dunno, I just think this game is neat and I'm new so I'm pretty open to just about anything!

ANYTHING ELSE?: Of note: Y'shtola is technically blind and so her first 5-7 days will not be pleasant. In truth, she can see by seeing the latent life force/magic inherent to others (I'm so sorry, I don't actually know how to explain this because the game is vague about it). So if that comes up in threading... I will shortly have a prettier magic opt-in post and will make it a little clearer for use. Check it out!

Y'SHTOLAAAAA

I cannot tell you how excited I am about this, me and Freya were hoping we'd get some Scions in here to balance out the Ancients/Ascians and then you showed up and it was like Christmas had come early!!

Thancred's also going to be so happy to have her around to help with all the magical research and such, he's been missing her and Urianger quite a bit. I also see you put her in Thorne so they'll have plenty of opportunities to hang out!

Did you want to keep their TDM thread canon, btw? If so, we may have to figure out some timing stuff because Thancred's been on a 3-week long trip outside of the castle, so we can decide if they met before he left or after he got back.

It's super awesome to play with you guys. You both were super lovely on the TDM and convinced me to app (and super big apologies for not replying to the tdm thread, this week has been really crazy for me after I slid in the app). Your thread talking about magic and such made me reconsider and shove her in Thorne!

Also I'm good to keep it or do a new thread so you won't have to worry about timing! It's completely up to you and what you feel would be easier. Either option works for me.

I'm so glad to hear that we were convincing, and that you got interested in Thorne! I think Y'shtola will definitely have a lot to explore there, even if it means that Himeka is stuck with stinky Emet (and Hyth).

I think we can just fudge it a little and say that it takes place after he gets back from his trip, especially since then we can segue into him telling her a bit about it! If that works for you?

I am so happy to see Y'shtola in game. And I can offer her Bishop Sasarai of the Thorne faction!

He's a scholarly fellow from what is basically Ishgard with the aggressive foreign policy of Garlemald. Fun shit. He's also a mage and studying the politics of Thorne as well as the Singularity.

Oh and eventually I can offer a murder clown but this time he has black hair so you know time has passed.

If you could only have been in the discord when I linked your TDM thread and people lost their shit in excitement for a Y'shtola! THE JOY WAS PALPABLE so welcome! I'm a big FFXIV fan.

I'm Dee, both my folks are in Free Cities so can only say heeeeyyyy from Horizon. Jayce here may be a good one because he's a science genius and engineer (a la Cid) who also is obsessed with magic and learning all magic, especially healing magic (his best friend is dying). He is fascinated by the Singularity and is used to collaborating so he'll want to compare notes with people too.

I also have Jesper Fahey itookashot from the Grisha/Shadow and Bone books, he's very extroverted and charming and chattery and a scoundrel. He and Thancred have met and bonded a little and I think at least one of us have referenced that he's kind of like baby Thancred as he's only 17.

But anyway welcome can't wait to see what Y'shtola does with all this.

AAAHHHHH that is so kind of you to say, thank you. I've not played her before so I am hoping my writing lives up to expectations.

I am not familiar with Arcane and I am passingly sort of canon familiar with Grisha, but your descriptions make me love them already. Baby Thancred and Cid 2.0. Fantastic. But I would love to get a thread rolling when we are able to! Jayce is the exact sort of person she would want to compare notes with. I'd be super interested in that. And I'd love to have her meet Jesper considering how similar he and old Thancred used to be.

Ditto! Jayce and his partner Viktor will be back working on creating technology-magic hybrids and that's the sort of thing they'd share with other people so he's definitely someone to share notes with other scientists/scientist-adjacent.

I suspect it won't take too long before Y'shtola hears that Emet-Selch is hanging around (since it's not really a secret at this point), but they should definitely run into each other at some point, either over the network or in the Horizon.

hello here to deliver explorer/adventure type? He's not reckless per se, he's just hard to kill so he's more willing to climb inside monsters and whatnot to get things done. he's investigating the singularity, and got tangled up in Thorne politics/the queen a bit ago so if she plays her cards right he can maybe be inclined to tell her about it (anyway geralt definitely doesn't get involved in things he swears but sometimes stuff happens and then there you are neck deep in bullshit)

also geralt is friends with himeka and getting there with thancred. the former has asked him to keep an eye on fandaniel, so there's some established ground to kickstart them if you want!

Um hello yes, I would love for that. All of that is sooo up her alley and she will frankly try to shake him down if she gets even an inkling that he knows anything about the Singularity/politics/the queen tbh. (Also cmon Geralt you can only claim that for so long, after a few occurrences it stops becoming a coincidence)

Oh, awesome! That can easily get him on her good side, since she'll trust anyone that Himeka and/or Thancred know and trust.

HELLO so I'm a FFXIV nerd and Y'shtola is probably top three my favorite Scions so I would like all the CR. As it stands, Rey is also a nerd who will study the magic etc to try and better understand wtf is happening AND given her whole being very powerful in the Force given that the description of Aether is... basically the exact same thing as the Force, Rey would probably be very glow in the dark.

Heyyyyyy yes, awesome! I am...sadly very canon blind for Star Wars but I am familiar with Rey from past RP shenanigans. Y'shtola will absolutely want to know what her deal is and why she shines so brightly, so please look forward to a (gentle) shakedown and potential CR.

I am!! So excited!! We were hoping for more Scions and you almost never see Y'shtola but she is so near and dear to my heart, I absolutely lost my shit when you posted. You're doing so well with her!

Like I mentioned in the TDM, Y'shtola is Himeka's intro Scion so she's very important to Himeka as well. (Emet brining her back from the dead was actually the turning point where she was like "oh okay you're part of the team" towards him until...well, everything else that happened.) I'm always happy to plot out specifics because I know things may change from WOL to WOL, but by in large she would take direction from Y'shtola pretty well and value her input on everything. (You can also assume that whatever the strangest dialogue option is the one that Himeka would have said because that's fairly accurate.)

Since they're in different factions I hope they'll get to meet up in Horizon soon! Himeka will definitely keep both Y'shtola and Thancred appraised of ongoings in the Commune. She has some ideas about rejoinings and the Singularity and all that BS that she does not feel qualified to pontificate on but Y'shtola is definitely someone who she would believe could figure out for them.

ahhhhHHHH I am glad, I have never played her before. But I am super glad to have been able to get in, you guys were so welcoming on the tdm and I am very appreciative of you threading with me. I'd love to know all the things about Himeka so I can get a better idea of her and Y'shtola but I think it's lovely that she was Himeka's starter Scion and I'd love for that to be part of their dynamic.

I also hope they can meet soon! I made the decision for Thorne solely on magic/politics because I'm a sucker for that shit but dearly am hoping for a thread with you and to get them interacting soon. I'd love to get the both of them churning out thoughts on the Singularity and all the info with that.

I'm Athena, playing Hendrik from Dragon Quest XI. He can play tank if Thancred somehow messes up Superbolide and gets knocked out.
