IC Exchanges

Use this option for interactions you'd like to play out, but setting up a standard IC thread would be impracticable. For instance, if your character wants to speak to several people about an event they witnessed together, you might want to do an IC exchange.

Treat this like an informal IC network thread done in person, where character reactions, snippets of dialogue, and other details can be quickly played out and concluded in-game without committing to a full log thread. Exchanges are game canon and can count towards Activity Check under the category of a Network thread.

Investigations

Several investigation paths are available for characters to interact with. Each assignment group will have their own set of investigation paths. You can investigate something as many times as you want, as long as there's a reasonable explanation for your character making their second attempt. Interacting with investigations might carry IC consequences. We'll try to telegraph when characters are at high risk of triggering something major. To investigate, fill out the form, then comment under the item you're investigating.

Request: Thancred and Rhy want to try and reach out to Lyle Vela in Nott. This would be about 4 days into week one, so when a good amount of people have vanished. They'll send him a missive via one of the Nott city guard asking for a meeting.

If this is granted, they'll inform him that the disappearances that have been taking place were not simply people deciding to leave of their own volition, but something more malicious than that, and that it's escalated, with Summoned and natives alike being taken.

Their hope will be to 1) see if he has any additional information about the situation that they don't and 2) to request help from the city guard in searching the area. The thread in question where they're discussing this is over here.

Lyle would be open to meeting with Thancred and Rhy. He'll be sympathetic to their plight in his usual straightforward way. Unfortunately, he doesn't have any more information to give. He explains Castle Thorne communicates with Nott infrequently.

He'd agree to send the city guards, especially since he has a prior relationship with Thancred.

If there's any specific dialogue or interactions you'd like with Lyle, we can offer you a thread, Otherwise, you can presume the meeting was friendly, and that Lyle hasn't forgotten Thancred or Rhy assisting in Nott. He'll ask if they need any other resources. Nott is stretched thin, but he wants to help.

We don't need to thread out the interaction and are happy to handwave it, thank you!

As far as other resources that they would make sure to ask for, though, they would mention that the Summoned as a whole were dedicated to finding and rescuing those who'd been taken. Therefore, at some point there might be an influx of sick and injured returning to the Thorne area and who would need medical attention. Therefore, any resources that Nott could provide in terms of mages with healing magic, doctors, medical supplies/herbs, etc. would be appreciated. They would basically advise him to try and ready these resources in advance so that they weren't overwhelmed once the rescue effort happens.

Lyle would remember the letter Thancred delivered him on Rhy's behalf pertaining to a clinic in Nott shortly before the abductions began. He tells them that he can provide some healers and supplies, and that if Rhy wishes to begin some informal work with helping them set up a temporary clinic or medical base, Rhy may do so. They can discuss the more formal details once this mess is over.

Rhy and Thancred will thank him for his time and assistance, and express their hopes that everyone taken can be brought home soon.

Rhy will definitely begin working to help organize a temporary clinic. Is there like... a Portal Area where people travel to and from the castle town to Nott? He would suggest setting up in a location that is most likely to be as close to and accessible as possible where people (and supplies) can be easily brought in.

Once the setup for the medical base is underway (probably this is better for Part 2?) Rhy would also attempt to approach officials in Castle Thorne for additional supplies for triage and rescue efforts. Ideally, he'd try to find someone known for working more with the king than the queen, or someone he's heard rumors of being more sympathetic to Nott's lack of support from the crown back during the attacks from the Free Cities. Rhy is kind and courteous to the castle staff (those in the kitchens, gardeners, etc) and works closely with them when he organizes the welcome mingles, so I'm wondering if he'll be able to rely on rumors/conversations with the lower-level folks to suss out which officials are more likely to have uuuh, less queen-leaning sentiments. (Rhy has noticed the king stepping up more during negotiations, asking Solvunn for supplies, etc. since September, so he's hoping for a more accommodating ear from that side.)

Obviously actually setting up will take some time, so this can absolutely wait! Just wanted to give you guys an idea of the direction I was considering. Thanks so much!

Yes, there's a portal area where characters would've been coming through in between Castle Thorne and Nott.

We'd recommend saving additional details for Part 2. Since Nocwich will be open as a potential central base of operations following a request by one of the Summoned, this may factor into your decisions and plans. Broadly speaking, though, Thorne is willing to lend healing support in whichever capacity is required for the safe return of their people.
