IC Exchanges

Use this option for interactions you'd like to play out, but setting up a standard IC thread would be impracticable. For instance, if your character wants to speak to several people about an event they witnessed together, you might want to do an IC exchange.

Request: A couple of things partially related to current plot engagements, if that's okay!

1) If the King is making himself seen, Kyle is going to try to observe who he seems to keep close (major NPCs and minor). If he can actually get close to King or anyone discussing the King, he'd be trying to listen for snippets of conversation, anything to tell him more of the king's opinions on current events and especially his wife. He will attempt to use his Gray Space abilities to do this, but because the castle is warded to hell and he can't hear anything while observing in the Gray Space I imagine this won't work so good. I'm down for him getting caught being sneaky this time if there's a dice roll.

2) He's also going to try to listen for any gossip about the Rhett siblings, especially Anastasia and Hayle.

3) With his missing persons report he would've made it obvious that he's concerned and would probably ask whoever he's been working with for some kind of permission to actually search around Nott/the lake/the farmland during Week 1, but if they said no he'd probably do it anyway using the portal to Nott that's currently open for his usual deliveries. I understand he won't find anything this early, this is more for flavor/character stuff!

Request:
1.) if they have supplies on them like waterskins or rations at the time of their kidnapping, would those be stripped from them along with their weapons or is it possible something like that might be overlooked too?

2) If they do attack and manage to kill any of their kidnappers before they're taken, are there bodies left at the scene of the crime or do the acolytes take their dead with them?

3) if someone has already gone through the ascension ritual, does this disqualify them from attempting to heal someone if they have healing magic? just checking to see if the pain/trauma/fever they're in at this point makes an already difficult attempt impossible or just harder?

4) just double-checking, it's still possible to use the horizon post-Ascension but pre-vision if we want Spared friends to see what happened? we'd just have to set it before the effects reach their peak?

Character Name: Viktor

Request: Building off of the tracking technology that Viktor invented once upon a time, he will be conspiring with Ciri to outfit her with a tracker and get her captured on purpose. The tracker is small (originally designed for a pigeon!), so he and Jayce will implant it in her upper arm, with Jayce healing over the incision to avoid detection.

If he's permitted to attempt this more than once, he'll be pitching this as an idea on the coordination post and accepting another volunteer (Blake), with the rationale they can increase their chances of figuring out where the Summoned are being taken if he sends out more than one.

The goal is to use the signal emitted by the tracker and some good old-fashioned telemetry to pinpoint where the Summoned are being taken--barring that, a general direction might be a good start.

This is all mk. 1! Based on what Viktor is able to learn from this first attempt, and the resources he is able to scrounge up after it becomes clear that Ciri (and Blake) will not make it back, or the tracker is otherwise limited/compromised, he and Jayce will be improving the range and tracking device and working with Petra and Hilda (and possibly Kyle) to make another attempt. I can submit this when appropriate. Thanks!

Character Name: Jayce Talis

Action: On top of the tracker idea Viktor had, Jayce would notice the mechanical birds that Cadens is using. He would be interested in approaching the military/whoever to ask what they're made of. He explains why: he has been working with braerium and mixing alloys to use it in a variety of ways with his own work. He says if they aren't already doing this, his idea is to lace the birds with braerium and to then use enchantments or New Magic on top of it since it absorbs magic. He suggests that they may be able to boost its power or battery life, so to speak, so it can go further and last longer, if using the right amount of braerium with magic.

This may take time enough to be something more developed in the second part, but the pitch would be done earlier as an idea he has based on his own work. He would be willing to then help develop this with the other scientists/engineers, if they're interested.

(If they are already using it, he would just say okay and offer to help make more! Whatever you think makes sense!)

Request: Lenore's extremely interested in the arrival of Anastasia Rhett and whatever is happening in that office. She'll be carrying supplies and books to help the mages, but once Anastasia arrives she'll be more often taking a route that goes past that office, slowing down or stopping entirely to try and overhear conversations. If she manages to cross paths with one or other of the siblings in this process, she absolutely intends to offer help and charm and a carefully measured amount of flattery, wanting to ingratiate herself with one or both--though she's much more interested in Anastasia than her brother.

Thread: This is included in Lenore's top level in hopes of teaming up on the investigation.

What might she (and/or a potential thread partner) overhear?
Could I do ... either a dice roll or an NPC thread or something with Anastasia? I don't know what is sensible to ask.

Request: I am so very sorry Sometime shortly after the update meeting Lucifer would try to either approach Ambrose or get as close as possible (shouting down a hall or something), yelling inane things about how they're supposed to be "safe" "kept" in Thorne as they are (fully sarcastic), how's all the warding helping them now, if Thorne ever let them hold any means to defend themselves maybe things like this wouldn't happen.

Lucifer would have been working on wards earlier in the week. He is typically very level-headed in Thorne and makes a point not to speak out, only becoming more openly distressed as the week went on. That might be the only good thing going for him.

I absolutely understand if this gets him thrown in a cell or something of the sort.

Request: More of a question than a request, but if there are a lot of plant hivemind-y consciousness vibes in the overall event. Would a psychic character be able to pick up anything from these various organisms? Or even the monsters that exist in the pit? Surface-level thoughts, intent, etc?

Request: Ciri will be getting captured on purpose as part of Viktor's plan, while having the tracker implanted in her arm. I have a few questions pertaining to the tracker!

1. Will the tracker give off any signal at all while Ciri's in the pit?

2. I'm throwing her into the full ascension ritual. During it, with all the mushroom bits getting into her skin and such, will the tracker be noticed?


I also have a few questions related to Ciri's powers.

3. Ciri will try to portal out several times, starting with as soon as she gets there and then later after the ritual. She'll be rejecting the process and experiencing bursts of strength, so will try again at that point. I'm aware she can't just portal out, but I'm wondering if there's any specific effects or interactions with the surroundings that I should keep in mind? She will try to portal one other person with her, despite knowing it's likely to glitch (falling in the ocean is better than this right)

4. Considering the effects of Ciri bleeding near the Singularity, will the acolytes be likely to note anything "different" about her blood or her connection to it during the ascension ritual?

EDIT: sorry, one more small question.

5. Ciri has a foldable multitool Jayce made her. It looks like a necklace and has a tiny blade, corkscrew, and tiny pliers. Will the acolytes have noticed this is a potential weapon? It's about an inch long.

Request: Once Claire gets wind of what's happening, and how widespread it is, she's going to want to being setting up some sort of centralized medic station. In doing that, she'd need volunteers, and so would probably address everyone via a network post mid-to-late week. She doesn't know enough people to figure it out sooner, not yet, so it will take hearing it from others and putting the pieces together.

I figure the main action for Claire will be in Part Deux, but this could be a good launching pad? also, if there's anyone else more established as a doctor, I'm happy to follow someon else's lead!

Request: This is springing off from the thread where Ciri will be purposefully taken with Viktor's tracker. Jaskier also has a pair of eavesdropping stones he received from the Thorne black market some time ago. The description was: "Look like ordinary small stones, but when separated by more than 10 meters they will activate and the stone left behind will 'pick up' up to 5 minutes of the first conversation it hears and transmit it to the stone Jaskier is holding, like a walkie-talkie. Afterwards they will become ordinary stones again."

Jaskier will be with Ciri when she is taken, and will not be taken himself (obviously because he's too famous.) Before they're separated, Jaskier is going to give Ciri one of the eavesdropping stones. What, if anything, would Jaskier hear from the kidnappers when this happens?

Request: hello mods! i am here with a few requests/comments/questions! c:

- sam would definitely want to bring the issue of the missing people to marlo directly; he would be pushing the fact that this isn't normal, that it's a problem that is happening to both summoned and locals, and that they should communicate about next steps and what the cities wants to do. this can be threaded or just handwaved, as sam is looking for a point of contact and to open up communication more than anything!

- he's then going to, in that meeting, offer to work some shifts on patrol if needed and such but is basically going to tell her that he is asking her officially for him to have access to his wings until they can get this all solved. happy to RP this out, but he would definitely push the fact she is super busy, has plenty on her plate, and he already knows he's going to want to use them quite often.

- also less to do with direct NPC interaction, but around week 2, sam will be working with jaskier to spread the word around the city. specifically, they will be moving around heavily populated areas and making it known that they are working with the officials, and they are looking for everyone missing, and that includes the local abraxans too. if anyone (of the locals) has information they want to share, or a name of someone missing they want to make extra sure is recorded, sam and jaskier are both keeping lists alongside the government. (this is done more out of the fact that they are looking to bridge the gaps between the locals and summoned and make sure it's not just 'summoned are only looking for summoned' - plus, sam and jaskier know that with curfews and higher military presence, especially with the amount of immigrants in the city, tensions are going to run high and they are trying to bridge that gap)

- this is for part 2 but i want to state here that sam is going to be working towards that creation of a kind of search-and-rescue team across factions to go in and actually bring out some of the lost. this, of course, deals heavily with having a location to get to as well as use of portals to get there, but wanted to put it out here that it's going to be the first thing he jumps on!

Request: Would it be possible for Thancred to eavesdrop / listen in on whatever conversation or argument is happening between closed doors between Ambrose and Anastasia, as referenced in the event log? He has stealth abilities that will allow him to be undetectable for short periods of time, to allow him to get close enough to listen in.

Request: NPC interactions(s). I would like to have Jaskier attempt to set up a meeting between Quilleth and Sten (as he has had repertoire with both) and himself in order to request aid from the Lunae (mostly actual people, if not resources) for investigating the disappearances and reports of masked figures being involved on behalf of the Free Cities. I am thinking of both being involved so there could be recompense to the Lunae for their assistance, as well as an open line of communication in case any of the citizens in Nocwich are being taken/affected, or if they would have any knowledge of why has the ability to affect the Summoned's natural magics. If the Lunae hesitate in acknowledging any direct aid given to the Free Cities, he would offer payment from himself, separate from what Cadens or Libertas might offer, in what amounts he can manage for their help.

If only one NPC works better, then I think Jaskier would primarily focus on Sten in case his people would have knowledge that would not be freely available to someone from the other factions. He would also be interested in acquiring a private store of the metal that the Lunae have provided the Free Cities for his own uses (basically to use for equipping the rescue team when they're set up.)

Nadine is coming both as his partner and because she will be aiding him in supplying the rescue team. He defers to her if any medical knowledge is needed during any questions that arise.

Request: I would like to request a meeting between Yennefer and the Queen to discuss the disappearances and what Thorne can possibly due to help track down the Summoned and to find who it is that did this! she's going to want to ask specifically about how the summoned can be of better help and then also if the queen would allow yennefer to write letters/make requests from other officials around thorne (on the queen's behalf) and then outside of thorne (with their new friends in ikorr)

also thank you so much for the note on the ooc post that the Queen would generally be outraged by the disappearances! it helped quite a bit for my plotting. c:

Request: A couple NPC interactions (where available with mod time) and a little side quest, perhaps?

1.) She would first reach out to The Council regarding the missing Summoned. It's here she would mention that she's aware that people have gone missing here and there (mostly from the Tertiary Settlement), but this is the first time she's aware of Summoned going missing en masse. Out of the Council Rowan would probably be the easiest if she can only meet one-on-one.

She's looking to gather resources on the Solvunn side of things for the Spared Summoned in assistance with finding their Lost friends. (Easier and SAFER ways to travel to patrol between and within various settlements, assistance from mages if possible, etc.) She'd also like to ask if they feel that Josselyn has any differing opinions on the Summoned. (The fact that this is happening around the same time as Josselyn's pulling back from the council when it's her settlement that has had the long-term issues is suspicious.)

2.) She'd also like to reach out to Osana in Ikorr whom she met as a delegate. Himeka rather liked her! She knows that Nocwich in general prefers to stay neutral in conflicts between the factions and would like to thank her (and others) for playing mediator. In this she'd stress this is a Summoned issue rather than a faction issue and ask if the sap they provided to Solvunn could also be available to other factions as a means to assist in first-aid in both scouting but also WHEN (she believes when...probably) they can find the Lost and treat them.

She'd definitely like to have this meeting without the Council present if possible to try and gauge how Ikorr may view the situation. If Osana had any insight on why she thinks Summoned would suddenly disappear or if she's aware of any powers that could do it so easily too.

3.) Lastly, she'd like to try and make an appeal again to one of the Old Gods. In particular I was hoping she could go visit the shrine that she and Aerith had offered the caskets to the previous year. When she prayed to it, Himeka did hear whispers in acknowledgment and learned the name Vimorskas. When she asked Winifred about it, it sounded like Vimorskas was a god that wasn't much worshipped these days (unsurprising given the state of the shrine), but Himeka still thought it was telling that this was a shrine that they chose regardless. She's curious if this god can be asked to help in some way.

Ideally I'd like for her to go with at least one (undetermined) companion from Solvunn to the shrine for more plot engagement! She doesn't have caskets this time, so instead she'd offer up her own aether (aka. life force & magic stores) as an offering before trying to pray for guidance or assistance. Unsure this would lead to anything but she'd give it a shot! She'd likely do this with or without council approval, but she would bring it up to them for transparency's sake. (It's also a bit of a trek on foot so if they had mounts available if this is cool that'd be awesome... I remember giant wooly goats whom I adored last time.)

Request: hello!! i'm not where this should go, but what will happen if someone were to:

obviously he's pretty tied up so i'm not expecting him to pull off anything super effective, but basically he's gonna. flip it. bc he's fed up and doesn't want their weird jelly.

Request: Hi mods! Rynn and I were wondering whether the Acolytes would notice/be interested that Claude and Sylvain have a bloodline-based ability called a Crest that gives them each different abilities, and also whether this might affect anything about the ritual, ascension, or both.

Claude's Crest grants him a health recovery ability and in Abraxas I have this functioning as minor to moderate healing for smaller injuries. For severe ones it won't heal him entirely but will offer enough to keep him on his feet and able to fight. As an ascension effect I'm also planning on having his Crest damage him rather than heal in going with powers being diminished or not working as expected.

Sylvain's Crest has the added effect of being able to increase his might/strength in a fight and the damage he creates when using certain attacks.

Neither of them can control when their Crests activate as they happen at random, but it would be noticeable that something's happened when they do. In their capture (thread here for reference) Claude's did activate if that would gain their attention initially. We are also both good with whatever might be sent their way because of this, too.

Request: Concerning the chosen one aspect after the ritual and linking it slightly with his telepathic senses. Would it be possible if he hears voices after the ritual? Be it the ones of those ascending coming in bursts or just something pushing him to convert? And if so, would he get an inkling to where they might be coming from? Would it lead him somewhere? He'd do anything to make the grief go away if he's offered it could. I want to push him and only ever see him trying to convert others if he thinks there's something at stake. For example, maybe the voices tell him he can amend his loss or Claudia (the person he most would give to see again) is on the other side if he succumbs? Just checking in to see if he can go a bit array! I'd understand if it's not possible! He's such a newbie.

Request: Stephen would like to request a meeting with Ambrose regarding a few key points of interest. Mainly:

To discuss the results of Stephen's locator spell, and his (and Yennefer's) use of the Thaumametors to further hone the location into something more precise. (As OOCly plotted out here.)

To mention the fact that the Summoned's connection with the Singularity has somehow been weakened or being interrupted. (This was ICly discussed here and would have been mentioned to Stephen by Rhy. Stephen would prefer not to bring up any names at all, but if pressed he would bring up Rhy's connection as a reference point, and refuse to mention Julie's.) He'd ask Ambrose if there is magic similar to what is used during the summoning ritual to counteract this interruption.

Cooperating with Jayce and Viktor's attempts at pinpointing the Summoned's location (quoting Dee: Jayce has been upgrading the Free Cities mechanical birds with the luna metal that amplifies magic (or defends against it). The plan is to send three birds toward the area they have estimated to be the right place, with the tracker and receiver, with magical enchantments for greater space/battery/whatever.), Stephen would ask if it's possible for the factions to temporarily allow a portal that is on the border of Thorne and FC/Badlands so they can be closer to where clues seem to be pointing them to perform this task. He knows this is a tricky ask, given the current political climate, but maybe two 6-rank influence Summoned will have some sway? Yennefer will also be supportive of this idea.

I know this is a lot, so this does not necessarily have to be threaded out ICly in order to save time. Thank you!

Request: Springboarding off of Lenore's research on Minor Arcana and this IC Exchange over sign inversions/reversals, we wanted to see if Lenore and Kyle could approach the court mages, specifically Jolene Sybell if possible. They are both lower rank so if not they will ask if it can be passed to her or the Rhetts, mostly to make sure another higher up NPC is aware of this clue + it's presence among withered and dead flora/fauna but also if there's any possible information or direction they might be pointed toward about Arcana reversals.

LATE EDIT SORRY: He will also give whoever they talk to the desiccated bird and tree bark he found near the symbol (it was originally going to two other characters to investigate but that fell through!) in case there's anything to glean from that.

Request: This is real dumb and minor in the grand scheme, but. Julie is about to see some real fucked up shit, and is sort of already running on fumes in basically every sense of the word, and has a known history of accidentally manipulating elements with her Big Feelings. With her continued intense connection to the Singularity during the event, I thought it might be interesting and crazy unhelpful if she unintentionally creates a long, bad thunderstorm over Cadens and the surrounding area. What's worse than the desert? The desert in ceaseless, pouring rain.

No hard feelings if it's a no! It's mostly to just be backdrop.

Request: With the knowledge of the Arcana shown in this thread and this symbol which appears on the shrines in the pit (as confirmed by Geralt) and near the disappearance of others, Jaskier wants to use the resources of the Arts Restoration Committee and Alucard's experience in the libraries and museums of the Free Cities to try to find Arcana scholars or artists who would be able to give insight into what a "reversed" Arcana could mean, or someone who may recognize the specific symbol that is appearing on the shrines.

Request: Thancred and Rhy want to try and reach out to Lyle Vela in Nott. This would be about 4 days into week one, so when a good amount of people have vanished. They'll send him a missive via one of the Nott city guard asking for a meeting.

If this is granted, they'll inform him that the disappearances that have been taking place were not simply people deciding to leave of their own volition, but something more malicious than that, and that it's escalated, with Summoned and natives alike being taken.

Their hope will be to 1) see if he has any additional information about the situation that they don't and 2) to request help from the city guard in searching the area. The thread in question where they're discussing this is over here.
