IC Exchanges

Use this option for interactions you'd like to play out, but setting up a standard IC thread would be impracticable. For instance, if your character wants to speak to several people about an event they witnessed together, you might want to do an IC exchange.

Treat this like an informal IC network thread done in person, where character reactions, snippets of dialogue, and other details can be quickly played out and concluded in-game without committing to a full log thread. Exchanges are game canon and can count towards Activity Check under the category of a Network thread.

Investigations

Several investigation paths are available for characters to interact with. Each assignment group will have their own set of investigation paths. You can investigate something as many times as you want, as long as there's a reasonable explanation for your character making their second attempt. Interacting with investigations might carry IC consequences. We'll try to telegraph when characters are at high risk of triggering something major. To investigate, fill out the form, then comment under the item you're investigating.

Since Kyle has a fairly solid reputation in the castle as a trusted courier, Jolene would be willing to meet with him and Lenore. While the meeting wouldn't be long, she'll listen carefully to what they have to say.

She says she'll pass the information higher up the chain. Distinctly, she does not clarify whether she means Ambrose or Anastasia. She explains she's not a wildlife expert and has limited information to give regarding the flora and fauna, though she can confirm that the effect is unnatural. However, if they can obtain some plant like a flower or a small fern that shows signs of withering and bring it back to her, she can attempt to bring it back to life.

Regarding Arcana reversals, she explains that this only ever applies to its casting or its reading. For instance, if a card is drawn upside down, it may have an alternate effect or interpretation. The design itself is never inverted. Some variations in artistic style can occur like any symbol, but the core elements in this particular sigil have been altered which is unheard of. This suggests a new meaning altogether has been assigned to it as opposed to artistic liberty.

If Kyle or Lenore have any specific interactions or dialogue you'd like them to play out with Jolene, we can offer a short NPC thread. Otherwise, you may presume the meeting was brief and polite.

Thank you, mods! Lenore does have an additional question, off of continued theorizing with lucifer that occurs before she and Kyle go to Jolene.

Is it possible that if whoever created this design did intend for it to be a sort of anti-spell to the page of pentacles, that if the original arcana heals and grows, the anti-spell drains and withers? And if, hypothetically, that were possible, what might happen if you were to cast the original arcana ... at the anti-spell?

There is no specific spell attached to any of the Arcanum. They're only used to enhance the magic or modify the magic being cast by the mages themselves. Defacing the card or reversing the card itself can affect the spell in various ways, but this only applies to actual tarot cards. As far as the mages know, creating a brand new tarot card is unheard of and in theory should have no real effect.

Having said that, ascribed meanings and other aspects of the Arcana are used throughout Abraxas from fashionable jewelry to fortune telling, which is readily apparent. She might've seen people who have tattoos of their Arcana sign or on an accessory similar to how the zodiac or horoscope symbols are used in modern times. Speaking to the natives will confirm this. Not every use of a sigil or an Arcanum has a magical purpose.
