IC Exchanges

Use this option for interactions you'd like to play out, but setting up a standard IC thread would be impracticable. For instance, if your character wants to speak to several people about an event they witnessed together, you might want to do an IC exchange.

Treat this like an informal IC network thread done in person, where character reactions, snippets of dialogue, and other details can be quickly played out and concluded in-game without committing to a full log thread. Exchanges are game canon and can count towards Activity Check under the category of a Network thread.

Investigations

Several investigation paths are available for characters to interact with. Each assignment group will have their own set of investigation paths. You can investigate something as many times as you want, as long as there's a reasonable explanation for your character making their second attempt. Interacting with investigations might carry IC consequences. We'll try to telegraph when characters are at high risk of triggering something major. To investigate, fill out the form, then comment under the item you're investigating.

{ there’s quite a few people gathered to listen and he’d keep quiet about it, but he considers their days are getting more heightened as the second week has rolled by. louis is tired in ways he didn’t think he could be. speaking up would probably be best.

he’s only hesitant since it’s one thing to subject under pressure to his nature around the pit, versus saying it when others are around. somehow, he considers most don’t care. he hates that he still cares while he’s worse for wear. }

I had a vision of sorts, after drinking the shrine’s bleeding essence. { he’s going to say it with ease, and a casualness he shouldn’t have. might as well be at a town hall meeting. they never invited him to those back in nola. } I’d be careful if you intend to open those shrines again. There’s something in there, I think. A shadowy presence I can’t comprehend. Probably ancient.

[ What the fuck. Ciri wrinkles her nose. She hasn't missed that people in here have been steadily losing their minds, some more than others, in bizarre ways. ]

Was the dark presence in your vision humanoid? Did it look like a man made of shadow?

[ She's been having plenty of visions herself, a shadowy figure among them. ]

Yes. Blood nourishes me. { it comes out slightly snappy, culled by the anger that he had to contain earlier, forcing the confession from him. he's still hasn't noted the lesions that are curled around his wrist, calling for him. it itches, and he ignores it. louis takes a minor second to recenter and gather his voice in a purposeful calamity when he listens to the questions. it works. he forgets how much he's been giving into his vampiric traits. he dislikes it. }

Pardon. It's stuffy in here. A shadow? I couldn't gather if it was humanoid. It could be. I felt it, briefly. Reminded me of Those Who Must Be Kept. { the first vampires, as far as he knows. } Mostly ancient and resting. For what, couldn't tell.

[ The look on Ciri's face when he says that is less shock borne from never having heard such a thing, and it isn't disgust -- it's just surprise, a quick blink. Something unexpected. A vampire, then? Or something similar?

Now is hardly the time to push the issue, especially considering she hasn't seen him indiscriminately killing people to drink. They've all been attacking each other, besides. She chooses to ignore it in favor of more pressing matters. ]

Sounds like not the sort of thing we want to wake up.

...what kind of blood is coming from the shrines? Can you tell?

{ she ignores his confession and he is silently thankful there isn’t a reaction to it at all. he’s had all sorts, and in a gathering of folk trying to understand what is going on, it’s best left to not mattering in the grand scheme. he strives to not stand out when it can be helped.

instead, louis focuses on the question. he recalls the blood, and the way it had given him some strength back. it also propelled him into a shock, and he nearly throught it transformed from the sweetness to acidic like biting into a lemon. salt. it needed salt. }

Possibly. I couldn’t connect to it. It’s beyond me. If I could guess, it’s neither human or animal. It might be a spirit trapped.

We don't know enough. Shouldn't be fucking around with even more unknown forces, on top of everything else we have to deal with down here.

I think it is safe to say that whatever we get from the shrines, it's not going to end up being purely good. The gods are very real entities here. Maybe it will call a god or a herald to help us, but as we all learned a few months ago, the heralds can wreck people whether friend or foe.

(He knows Louis wasn't around for that, as far as he knows, but it is a reality that they all suffered from divine intervention. But a part of him truly does think that maybe it will be their best chance. Use the god they're making shrines to.)

{ louis has to give pause at the purely good. he's long given up on what could be considered truly evil. most of what he knows is painted in shades of gray. although, he tries to be good. can he bring himself to care about the shadow that might be their end? }

I've known the power of gods in wronged hands. Not sure I want to deal with it again. I'll take your word.

{ he'll digest that gods might be truly reachable later. there's not much he can do, but deep down he knows in the the unsettling of the situation at hand, that he wants to gamble what may lay within the shrines. his outward expression gives otherwise in a state of agreement to istredd. }

If I gather anything else, I'll come around.

A more detailed explanation can come later, but a few months ago these entities called the Heralds wreaked havoc on our minds, personalities, and the Horizon. We were damaged mentally.

[ So there is reason to see some kind of connection between the gods and what is happening now. It may not be entirely true, there is no proof they have currently of the divine interceding, but maybe it is their power not to call on one. It is simply to expain how powerful they were. How powerful this shrine entity could potentially be. ]

Let's keep each other in the loop, yes. It may be necessary to break it free but we must be careful.
