Mod Communications / Randomization

If you have something you want to do related to the event plot, you can communicate and coordinate with us here. Interactions

Several interactions are available. For Part 2, there are fewer mysteries to uncover, but plenty to interact with to see what happens. You can interact with something as many times as you want, as long as there's a reasonable explanation for your character making their second attempt. Note that interactions might carry IC consequences, though we'll try to telegraph when characters are at high risk of triggering something. IC Exchanges

Use this option if you have an interaction you'd like to play out, but setting up a standard IC thread would be impracticable. For example, if your character wants to speak to several people about an event they witnessed together, you might want to do an IC exchange.

Treat this like an informal IC network thread done in person, where character reactions, snippets of dialogue, and other details can be quickly played out and concluded in-game without committing to a full log thread. Sten will receive the bread and jam. Should they come across each other briefly afterward in the Square during the event, he will assure Jaskier it was tasty.

[ a hand, and the hand is connected to an arm, a torso, and look at that, a whole person. a severely disfigured person, who's had fungal branches grow across the upper half of her head, and as Cas pulls her free from the altar, her breathing becomes labored and painful. the expansion of her ribs and rise of her chest falls into sync with the pulsing rhythm of the surrounding vines, and Cas pauses in pulling her free. ]

She may be tied to a, uh, a life force of the altar. You see the pulsing? [ The angel signals Jayden to come closer with a jerk of his head, help him keep this woman from falling out and busting her fungal skull on the ground. Glancing over his shoulder, Cas scans the crowd for a familiar face that might have insight, or at least a better guess at how to handle this. his eyes settle on Istredd.

Their last few collaborations ended in releasing an old world horror upon the realm of the living once more. Though, it did offer the other opportunity to escape. hopefully istredd still holds a good opinion of him, after all that. ]

Istredd! A moment, please? [ calls the familiar face holding up half the body of a mushroom headed women hanging out of the blood and viscera filled maw of a occult, nightmare alter. ]

[He's really not sure when the tipping point happened, but at some point he must have subconsciously decided it would've been a best case scenario to just find a hand all by itself, not attached to anyone or anything. Maybe it's because that's kind of a normal thing, which happens on occasion.

But of course not. Of course it's attached to a person, and of course that person is some sort of part-mushroom creature. Jayden might've even been able to handle that if it weren't for the connection with the altar, the pulsing of the vines in time with her breaths, and the memory of the ritual and the twisting vines and the pulsating spots--

He gasps sharply and briefly sways, but then blinks hard and pulls himself together enough to stagger over next to Castiel and help keep the woman from falling.]

[ Istredd was injured during the escape and they have managed to patch it up for now, but it won't be long before it gets infected. That would probably be his luck, dying that way in the end, but he isn't worrying about it right then. He has been speaking to the surviving natives to try his best at calming, although at this point, it seems ridiculous to try. There is no real calming left.

He hears his name and goes over without hesitation. Castiel may have let the beast out, but they had discussed it being a last resort, and it did end up leading to some escapes. There is no judgment in the pit, at least not for him. ]

What are you --- gods!

[ Istredd really thought he'd seen it all at this point but a disfigured mushroom woman hanging out of the altar is still a step beyond his expectations. He rushes over to them, ignoring the pain in his side, and tries to clear his head. ]

Urianger! We might need your healing help.

[ None of their powers are completely working here, Istredd's managed bits and pieces, but he is not the stronger healer of the two of them. He glances at Castiel]

Are the vines pulsing with her?

[Alucard takes the brooch in hand, careful with how he picks it up. It is solidly made, and he considers it as Sten explains. As an indentity marker, Alucard's first thought is religion and the visual language of the church, and--

--oh, he doesn't like the new faith part.

Carefully, he offers the brooch back to Sten, not wanting it to get lost.]

And here I was afraid that they might be able to invoke some larger spell through the sigils left and gather more...whatever they might need for their ritual. That is a small relief, although I can't say that a faith that resorts to this kind of work is a preferred alternative. [He pauses to rub the bridge of his nose, slowly processing the idea that is starting to form in his head.]

This incident will be resolved, in time, but we may not be able to gather all of those responsible in one fell swoop. Do you think this faith survives or evolves further even if their leader is destroyed? Or even elements of it, given what they may believe about the relationship between gods and the Summoned?

Action: Alucard will be delivering the gelatin developed in trying to work with the material from Josselyn's house to Sten in order to help with cures.

( With only the Abraxan deck of cards at his disposal Urianger's healing abilities have been funamentally changed since he was Summoned — a change which has been further weakened since they were brought to this dank, festering pit. He calls on the stars, implores them to share their gifts with him that he might pull on their benefic magicks in aid of others—

And it works, albeit without anywhere close to the potency he would hope. That it is better than nothing is all he can hold on to at the moment.

Since succumbing to the ritual he has been doing his best to keep himself to himself, wracked as he is with shame and embarrassment for his behaviour during the worst of it. He is, however, alert and on hand should his skills as a healer be required, and so when the urgency in Istredd's voice cuts across the altar room Urianger is at his side in an instant. His initial assumption is that he needs help with his own injury, however it becomes quickly apparent that whatever is happening by the altar is significantly worse. )

Twelve forfend—

( He gasps, his eyes widening minutely as he sinks to his knees next to the disfigured form. Each pulse, each rattling breath is difficult to behold, but Urianger nevertheless eases in a little closer before looking to Istredd, and then to Castiel and Jayden. )

Didst thou recover her in this condition?

( The blood, the viscera, the stench of it all ... the idea that she was somehow surviving inside the altar is almost too horrible to bear. He gingerly lays his hands against her torso as he pulls at threads of healing magic, attempting to level out her ragged breathing and bring her some modicum of comfort. )

Or hath she deteriorated since being disturbed?

He will agree! And then, since he has absolutely no idea who the Solvunn Council is, he'll hit up Jerry once they're back in Nocwich and ask to be introduced to them — or, if they're not there, he'll ask Jerry to deliver a letter to them from him.

[She recognizes Steve's voice, and responds with some relief. The more competent hands they have, the better, especially when it's unclear how many are injured. Yes, it might be tempting to remain in the shelter of the cave, but that will just make them more vulnerable, in the end.

Aloy shakes her head.]

It won't be long before the acolytes come after us. Our best chance is to keep moving.

Action: Viktor and Nadine are attempting to reverse-engineer the ritual through some good old-fashioned hands-on experimentation. In addition to providing general assistance to the scientists and researchers, they'll be relying on the general information gathered by the ritual, plus testing the gathered ingredients and seeing how they interact with the sap from Ikorr (just for kicks, as it's what both Viktor and Nadine are most familiar with).

{ it's not particularly difficult to understand if there is an outlier in the midst of the the gathering groups meeting. he's accustomed to it, and he can respect everyone around knows one another in some form. he's too new and probably the one they trust less. therefore, he keeps a respectable distance, his hearing sharp enough from far down the front of the cave.

he considers when to appear. he rises and walks over to the group, and there he notices geralt from their brief encounter - the boulder enthusiast, if he recalls. }

I agree. How far is your group? Moving soon as you can is best. I can catch up when it's dark. If there are any acolytes behind you, I can distract them away from following further to my best efforts.

{ louis surprises himself to the spontaneous offer of such responsibility, but he has no choice. their options are limited. the cover of the dark is more dangerous, but to someone like him, he'd be able to navigate it as a nocturnal touched. what he fears won't match to the wild animals out there. he's capable. besides, the solitude might do him good before he encounters what could be a sizable group if he can guess. more had to have made it out. }

She will not respond to any verbal communications. When Istredd establishes a telepathic communication with her, the body will "link" with anyone who is currently touching her. Though she is not explicitly capable of communicating, they'll receive a glimpse into her memories. They're not very coherent, but she appears to remember seeing a variety of god-like figures superimposed over the face of another woman who occasionally resembles Josselyn Creed. The emotions attached to it are soothing and awed.

Characters can sense that her vision looks and feels very different than the visions they themselves received of the shadowed figure. Hers is much closer to a typical hallucination mixed with reality, whereas theirs carries a note of something genuinely otherworldly or divine.

Solvunn has provided all those working with a cure an early recipe of the jelly used in the ritual. This substance will not be as solid and has the consistency of a very thick liquid or jam. Its effects are also much more mild. They can use this basic recipe to help reverse-engineer a product closer to what was ultimately used in the ritual itself.

The substance and ingredients will interact positively with the sap, but it appears to require something much more.

They may wish to work with Yennefer who has also obtained ingredients from the Lunar Pond, which will help further. If they don't speak to her, the Luna researchers will provide them with the same information.

Nocwich will request experiments be done in a contained environment (which they will provide) to prevent toxic substances from spreading. They will destroy everything afterwards. Viktor and Nadine will not be allowed to remove anything from the area except the final cure.

Yennefer's experiments will be largely about proportions. She'll find that her own collection of ingredients, being from Thorne, has little effect.

They will destroy everything afterwards and she will not be allowed to remove anything from the area except the final cure.

She may wish to work with Viktor and Nadine who are reverse-engineering a substance closer to the one actually used in the ritual. Testing possible potions on that substance will give her better results and data. If she doesn't speak to them, researchers will provide her with the same information.

Sten will receive the recipe, and the early version of the jelly which will be carefully contained. He will make these resources available to everyone working on the cure. This will occur shortly after Viktor, Nadine, and Yennefer have started their research, and they'll have the opportunity to use it to aid them in their task.

A copy of the jelly recipe in the ledger will be delivered to Nocwich to assist with the cure. They may also receive a copy of that and the black substance if they feel it would help.

The ledger itself will be retained by the Council for now so they can go through it first. However, Wanda may have the opportunity to peruse the ledger in the future by visiting the Council to make a request. This can be for something related to the event or, due to her standing in Solvunn, they may grant her request for personal reasons.
