OOC Intro and CR Meme

Welcome to our OOC intro and CR meme. We encourage you all to get out there, plot, and introduce yourself!

There is no formal introduction log for characters joining the game. Players are free to introduce their characters however they like.

Since the upcoming event is fairly large, we've provided an EVENT BRAINSTORM section for new arrivals to receive offers from existing players, who can invite them into their AU histories and help establish potential connections.

Only new characters may fill out the form for this section, but anyone can reply with suggestions. We encourage current players to reply with ways new characters can be incorporated into the event!

Important Notices

This month contains some important in-game occurrences. Be sure to review the details below!

IC Items

◎ Beginning APRIL 6, shortly after the new arrivals, the storm worsens. Lightning now strikes the ground, and heavy rains have led to flooding - including in the normally dry and arid Free Cities. Conditions have grown from troublesome to outright dangerous. While the major cities are better protected, the effects can still be felt. There will be a mounting death toll (moderate), and water damage to homes and businesses.

◎ Portals between cities are CLOSED in every territory. Because of the instabilities, portal travel has been shut down. Characters can still travel via horse or wagon, but authorities suggest limiting any long journeys due to dangerous weather conditions.

◎ Nocwich is CLOSED this month. Characters from opposing territories will only be able to see each other in the Horizon, which continue to undergo some disturbances.

OOC Items

◎ The upcoming event requires players to sign up for an assignment. Please read this post for more details. New players are encouraged to participate! Signing up only requires putting down your character's name.

◎ We recognize the next event has a lot of elements to consider, especially for new players. We encourage you to contact us if you're feeling a little lost! The goal for our events is to let players be as creative as possible. If you have an idea but are unsure of how to implement it or what the limits are, we're happy to guide you.

A Look Ahead

The OOC Plotting is scheduled for the 12th of this month, while the IC Event Log is scheduled for the 17th. The event will involve a glimpse into the future and will go until May 10.

We have some climatic plots planned into summer due to the domino effect that began with Event #17. However, to make sure characters (and players) have some room to breathe, May will be a quiet month with pieces moving in the background before things pick up once more in June.

CHARACTER INFORMATION: Jill Warrick is a magical tactical nuke in human form and has been treated like such throughout her entire life, and worse. A prisoner of war for only slightly less of the majority of her life, and a ward of nation that fought her own for the majority of her life before that, Jill tried her best to put her intense self-hate to rest by committing a well-deserved murder. Successful on the murder but not quite on the self-loathing, Jill is, for the most part, reserved, calm, and incredibly kind with a habit of devaluing her own self-worth. She's quite lady-like, having formal training to be a lady of the court, and has been indulging in all the things that were denied to her as a prisoner of war and assassin/wmd. She is getting married in the spring to he childhood crush, Clive Rosfield! Very exciting for her!!
CR YOU WANT:

❄ MAGIC PEOPLE; she's having a good time learning thorne magic, and is absolutely interested in group learning with other people who are newer to it as well as talking to more established individuals. she attends lessons almost every day
❄ DOCTORS/HEALERS; jill is suffering from the slow very literal petrification of her body, and while she'd be looking for someone to treat it for dion over herself, i'm happy to have someone frysquint at her like "hang on how do you know so much about this". anyone to encourage her to take better care of herself!
❄ WOMEN; jill is very much lacking female friends in canon and i want to make up for that here!! i would love for her to work through her trauma with other female characters specifically b/c i think it would mean more to her coming from another woman due to the nature of the trauma.
❄ ATTACK AND DETHRONE GOD SUPPORTERS; jill's first impressions of the situation in abraxas has her immediately suspicious of solvunn and anyone involved with the old gods/the new gods. events in her own canon have also made her believe that anyone claiming to be a god can get fucked, so it would be great to gather like-minded people here in case things go south. this is only going to get worse w/the coming event.

CR YOU DON'T WANT:

NOTHING; i'm especially interested in confrontation based on her ideology about how the singularity being bad instead of good -- i know this goes against what a lot of people (especially in thorne) tend to think, so please don't shy away from tagging/building cr if the potential for negative cr makes you think twice.

CHARACTER INFORMATION: Eldest of the Supernatural archangels. Created by his father, God, to fight and serve His will and later killed by the very same. The rest of the family isn't much better and neither is Michael's relationship to them. There's a failed Apocalypse in there somewhere, too.

Michael retains the ego and arrogance typical of his canon's archangels, but his time in Hell and unique friendship with his former vessel Adam have mellowed him out. He has an interest in humanity and a certain amount of respect for them as individuals these days. He's still got a quick temper, but it's hard to set him off unless you know exactly which nerves to grind your heel into. Most of the time he's a stone-faced stick in the mud, but one that's usually polite and willing to work. He has a dry sense of humor that only shows itself when there are no witnesses.

CR YOU WANT: Friends, adoptive family, reluctant allies, debate partners, characters with complicated or volatile family situations to commiserate with, human/inhuman/not-entirely-human types to swap perspectives with, bring me what you got.
CR YOU DON'T WANT: Not keen on negative CR for the sake of negative CR. It's gotta be complex or have room to grow.

— Michael has joined Aloy's ~~Solvunn hired goon squad~~ seeker group/hunting party, so if you'd like to kill monsters together or just use a patrol as an excuse for interacting hit me up.
— Gabriel's departure has left him with full ownership of a bed and breakfast in the Tertiary Settlement that's not quite ready to open, given the recent weather conditions. Nonetheless! I would love to plan some stays for the future, when it's accepting guests.
— Deepening CR ties in Solvunn in general, and building routines with other Summoned in the commune.
— He could use more contacts in the other territories, too!
— Knowledge/skill/hobby exchanges.
— I have him signed up for the upcoming event; you can find info on his future AU self here. Happy to use unexpected future connections for post-event CR building.

CHARACTER NAME: Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad
CANON: Assassin's Creed
SIGN: The Magician
TERRITORY: Free Cities

CHARACTER INFORMATION: Altaïr comes from the corner of an alternate-history canon with some interesting wrinkles in how the fiction intersects with the historical record. He is a member of the brotherhood of Assassins, which was a known (if secretive) faction during his era; unlike other AC installments, if you landed in real-world Damascus circa 1191 and asked how to get to the Assassins' fuck-off huge fortress, someone could actually give you directions. (And then ask why the fresh hell you wanted to go there.)

He is freshly from the end of the first Assassin's Creed game, which means he has recently gotten a lot wiser about the meaning of his creed, what his place is in the world, and why you shouldn't be an enormous douchebag just because you're a star athlete. With the enthusiasm of a new convert, he's interested in learning about absolutely everything, so please someone club him in the head so he'll sleep at some point.

Altaïr also has a fun color-coded sixth sense that tells him whether someone is a friend/enemy/etc (NOT whether they are a good/bad person). If you'd like to set a baseline of how your character would appear to him/whether I should OOCly always use/never use/ask before using Eagle Vision on your character, please fill out this handy-dandy permissions post! You can also come back and change it at any time.

CR YOU WANT:
-Explorer buddies
-NERDS who like LEARNING and BOOKS and will tell him where he can get BOOKS
-Shady people (not the kind who hurt innocents, but Altaïr is basically a Professional Shady Person, so)
-People who are like "hmmmm nah" about faction loyalty
-Not specifically looking for negative CR in the "hey let's start a fight" sense, but the dude can be abrasive/his philosophy and way of doing things is absolutely not gonna be everyone's cuppa so if conflict makes sense I'm INTO IT
-People who also like to climb shit

CR YOU DON'T WANT:
Literally nothing. Probably the only CR that wouldn't initially work as well is CR that's dependent on characters actively pursuing small talk for the sake of winning friends and influencing people, as Altaïr is pretty to-the-point and isn't amazing at chatting just to chat. That said, all he needs is a reason, and I'm happy to come up with one to kickstart a thread, so let's talk!

PLOTS/THREADS/THEMES YOU'RE INTERESTED IN:
Building up a more permanent stake/role in the sitting. Altaïr has Big Responsibilities waiting for him back home, he doesn't intend to make a life here, but he's realistic enough to understand he has no say on his presence in this dimension. So...what now? What's his thing, his project? This is something I've been trying to figure out for a bit tbh. He wants to invest himself in this place while he is here, but what's that gonna be? Ideally he'd want to found a bureau of the Assassins' brotherhood here, but 1) he's pretty paranoid to try doing that solo 2) less ability to influence the world by murder here, so such a brotherhood would lean more toward the Learn About The Creed Power Hour and I'm not sure anyone wants that lmao.

-Info-gathering! This isn't really a defined project, but while Altaïr appreciates that Free Cities leadership has not attempted to conscript the Summoned, he doesn't trust that this will never happen and his default state is suspicion.

-Money! Dude is not materialistic but he's pragmatic enough to understand that he needs some cash to get by. Since he doesn't plan to be a soldier, I'm always up for him doing weird odd jobs. One-offs are fine but ongoing "business" relationships make great CR building.

-Exploration! Oh god he always wants to explore so bad. At his canon point, he just saw a projection of the world-as-a-globe and had his mind opened to just how much there is to learn, so he wants to check out E V E R Y T H I N G in this new environment. Also he has to get informed if he wants to blend in as needed. Dude is a NERD.

-Philosophy! Come talk to Altaïr about how you see the world. Then let him tell you his own thoughts. Do you like Empedocles? (said in the same tone of voice as "do you like anime?") He's not going to start recruiting for the brotherhood of Assassins without any infrastructure backing him up, but he'll absolutely seek to share the guidance of their philosophy.

-Murder! Okay, well, this is not ICly a priority (see above), he is an Assassin but doesn't just kill for the sake of killing. That said, it's what he's good at, and I am down to clown with any such plots that involve these skills.

SO HAPPY TO HAVE YOU HERE!! I really loved both threads we did (Astarion and Kyle) and am happy to keep them canon! I enjoyed how with Astarion they had a nice little moment at the end there :') and Kyle can potentially give him more of the info Gale is looking for if he can build trust with Kyle.

CHARACTER INFORMATION: Nathan Drake is a treasure hunter, thief (sometimes those are the same thing), self-taught historian, vaguely Indiana Jones expy and an emotional trashbag of a man. His hobbies include climbing, drawing, hyper-fixating on history's mysteries, and finding the lost cities. Sometimes he destroys them, sometimes not. He most recently hails from successfully saving his brother's life and his own marriage in the fabled pirate colony Libertalia and walking away with absolutely zero treasure. He is pretty put out that this happy ending was ruined by interdimensional kidnapping, but is trying to roll with it.

CR YOU WANT:
-People who like mysteries/puzzles/generally getting their noses into things. He gets bored when left to his own devices and if he's not presented with rabbit holes to go down, he will find his own
-Fellow rogues/seedy types & non-rogue, good girl/gal/non-binary pal types for the fun clash
-Do you like climbing high places and exploring areas you shouldn't? Nate is already there and he welcomes the company
-IDK he's a pretty amiable dude and I like tossing characters together and seeing what happens

CR YOU DON'T WANT:
The only thing I can think of is romantic prospects because he's married and pining. That said, I welcome the opportunity to fluster him. He is not really aware that he's super hot.

He's been here long enough without cracking that I kind of want to get him into being self-destructive and throwing himself into dangerous doings. Also still want to work on giving him a project/projects as well, although unlike Altaïr it doesn't need to be One Big Purpose. But definitely would love for him to investigate various unknowns of the world.
