LINK (Legend of Zelda) and FATHER MAXWELL (Gundam Wing: FT)

OOC INFORMATION

NAME: purin
CONTACT: [plurk.com profile] urgentmatters
ABOUT YOU: Just some sarcastic nerd, please do not take anything I say seriously ever. My fandoms are almost exclusively 20+ year old anime and RWBY; Breath of the Wild is the first "real" video game I've ever played and I just think it's neat (I'm a sucker for tragic storylines). I work in ENT/hearing research at a children's hospital so I also plurk about that, sometimes. Full disclosure: I have a chronic illness which just takes me out wrt tagging sometimes, but I try to make up for it by booming and being prompt when I am feeling good!

Link (Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild) | Strength | Solvunn

[personal profile] hylife 2021-12-08 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
IC INFORMATION

CHARACTER NAME: Link
CANON: Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
SIGN: Strength
FACTION: Solvunn (Tertiary)

CHARACTER INFORMATION: Link is an amnesiac elf (Hylian) who woke up in his underoos in a shrine one day to the sound of a mysterious voice telling him that he is the Chosen Hero destined to save the world. He is every "hero" trope you can think of: courageous, kind, selfless, utterly dedicated to the cause. This iteration of Link is also a teenager learning how to have fun again after a 100 year nap! I.e., he is a reckless idiot who will eat almost anything, join any contest, and climb any height, all while trying not to think about the part where all his friends are dead and it's more or less his fault for flopping the Chosen Hero thing and dying first during the apocalypse. He's semi-feral in the literal sense, in that he has spent most of his new lifetime fighting for survival in the woods, but despite his weird hobo-ness he is a good kid.
CR YOU WANT:
- friends who can relate to the Chosen Hero thing
- friends who can't relate at all!
- other reckless and/or feral idiots to get up to no good with
- fellow swordspeople and soldiers/warriors to instantaneously earn his respect
- scholars and other frail folk to protect without being asked
- literal monsters to make him question what he knows about monsters
- people who are secretly monsters inside, to make him question what he knows about people
- royalty. he has a soft spot for royalty, and he'll be missing his Princess's ghostly disembodied voice in his head terribly
- he's also cool with people who aren't human-looking, UNLESS YOU ARE A MONSTER /brandishes sword
- shipping if you're into that, i'm trash

Also: Link travels often between the settlements of Solvunn, escorting travelers. You could handwave meeting him this way! Additionally I have an open catch-all log HERE, which includes a very open prompt into the Horizon, if you're recently arrived and still need to get your character there. :3 (Anyone is welcome to tag into it late, because time isn't real)

CR YOU DON'T WANT: I'm not interested in outright corruption arcs for him, so much as accidentally Doing the Wrong Thing and suffering the consequences. 👀 I'm also terrible at keeping up with smalltalk threads, so please lmk if you'd like to handwave basic introductions.
PLOTS/THREADS/THEMES YOU'RE INTERESTED IN:
I AM VERY into the idea of making Link actually examine the nature of morality, because his story is very black-and-white in terms of Good vs. Evil, and his destiny in Hyrule has been written down for him for a very long time. He's never had to question who he trusts. I'd love to see him befriend people who turn out to be not as "good" as he'd assumed they were (he's a dummy who's going to assume the people he meets are good unless they obviously are Not), and/or who end up on opposite sides of conflict.

Father Maxwell (Gundam Wing: Frozen Teardrop) | Wheel of Fortune | Free Cities

[personal profile] priestified 2021-12-08 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
IC INFORMATION

CHARACTER NAME: Father Maxwell (Duo Maxwell, Sr.)
CANON: Gundam Wing: Frozen Teardrop
SIGN: Wheel of Fortune
FACTION: Free Cities

CHARACTER INFORMATION: Hailing from the sequel novels you wish you'd never heard of, Father Maxwell is Gundam Wing's infamous Deathscythe pilot about 30 years into the future - after he's made a complete wreck of his life and ended up as the Mars Federation's Most Unlikely Priest. (He will probably never tell you he isn't a real priest.) He's a deadbeat, a drunk, a gambler, and a murderer-for-hire who is brimming with a thinly veiled rage for authoritarian government structures and military complexes, but despite all of this, he is surprisingly friendly at first blush. He is the type to make a lot of connections very quickly, without ever getting too emotionally invested. If and when he does get emotionally invested, he'll be sure to sabotage that relationship in the worst way possible. Ask him about his wife!
CR YOU WANT:
- other folks from the Future so they can ??? at this medieval timey-wimey nonsense
- the opposite, to actually help him
- generous souls he can shamelessly take advantage of for money, information, or one-night stands
- other engineers who might be interested in contributing to Maxwell's House of Steampunk Gadgetry and Ten Gallon Hats
- anyone who needs steampunk gadgetry invented, or a ten gallon hat
- do you need weapons? Maxwell will make you a weapon, no questions asked! (IF it looks interesting to him)
- How Do You Do, Fellow Adult "Role Models"
- actually anyone, he's the type who at least superficially gets along with all types despite being a jackass himself
CR YOU DON'T WANT:
- idk I'll play this by ear!
- I'm always Very Amenable to negative CR! Please just let me know if Maxwell is ever too much for you, and my opt-outs are always open.
PLOTS/THREADS/THEMES YOU'RE INTERESTED IN:
To begin with, Maxwell will probably engage in some petty thievery to scrape together the funds to just live. Then he'll offer his services as a mechanic and engineer in the Free Cities. Obviously the tech level may be vastly different from what he's used to, but Maxwell is a low-key genius about this sort of thing, so it won't take him long to figure things out and make a name for himself in that arena. Eventually, once he has a firmer grasp of what is going on wrt the conflict between Thorne and the other nations, I'd like to get him involved in some spywork (double agent anyone??) or arms deals.

He has a soft spot for kids in need, so if your character is one of those, feel free to abuse his heartstrings.

ANYTHING ELSE?:

(ok maybe don't ask him about his wife)
