There is no formal introduction log for characters joining the game, which means that players are free to introduce their characters however they would like.

Upcoming modplot will be announced on the OOC community, signal boosted on Plurk and listed on the Calendar! Please be aware that Event #6, scheduled for the 18th of this month, will offer opportunities for characters from different factions to meet up in a (mostly, and temporarily) friendly environment...

Sephiroth (FFVII)

CHARACTER NAME: Sephiroth
CANON: Final Fantasy VII
SIGN: The Tower
FACTION: Free Cities

CHARACTER INFORMATION: Sephiroth hails from before his arrival at Nibelheim — in other words, before he took up the role of the game’s villain. He’s a SOLDIER (basically a super soldier) that works for a corrupt power company sucking the planet dry of its life force. He grew up in laboratory conditions, trained all his life for war, is unknowingly part eldritch alien (long story), and has magnificent hair. He’s aloof and a little intimidating at first glance, but not necessarily unfriendly, only unskilled in extended social interactions. He collects few friends, but when he does, he loosens up just a little in their company.
CR YOU WANT:
—other military-minded individuals
—friends?? laughs, please… he needs them
—individuals who feel “other”, or who don’t quite fit in due to extraordinary circumstances. This is a good shortcut towards the eventual friendship category
—sparring partners
—anyone who needs a swordsman for stabby reasons
—free cities CR! horizon CR!
—found family is a big one, though it would probably be a long-term goal. A big part of Sephiroth’s character revolves around a lack of belonging, and this would be a nice thing to fulfill for him someday!
—people he can hold a grudge against, or otherwise highlight some of his subtly more unflattering qualities (obsessive, ruminating, stubborn)
CR YOU DON'T WANT:
—NONE… right now, I am open to literally everything. He might take a bit to warm up to some characters, but I’m willing to give it all a try

Emet-Selch is in Solvunn so they'd probably have to meet up in the Horizon (or over the network), but Emet has experience with both creating and serving in various sorts of military and as an ancient sorcerer with literally millennia of experience under his belt, he'd be more than able to stand up to Sephiroth if he wanted a sparring partner... and could convince Emet into doing so.

Sephiroth won’t say no to sparring partners, especially when he’s new! He’s going to be seeking out the familiar at first, and what’s more familiar than a constant state of training?

If he can convince Emet of it, then he’d probably be impressed with his ability to keep up, too!! Which would permanently etch him into his “people of interest” category, lucky him!!

Emet-Selch is primarily a caster by nature, but is also capable of using a variety of bladed weapons (greatsword and gunblade) if they do end up sparring! And honestly, pre-Nibelheim Sephiroth is... miles better than last person who thought of nothing but battle that Emet knew.

LMAO well that’s good at least! I think Sephiroth would still be interested in someone who specializes mostly in magic. He’s not unfamiliar with the concept himself, even if he focuses mostly on physical fighting.

Where are Emet’s usual haunts? We can have them meet and work their way up to sparring partners if you want. Or they can run into each other in the Horizon if so inclined.

Emet is like, the most powerful sorcerer of his era/his people! And has not become any less so over the long millennia of his life so there's a lot there. (Some of this will probably also come out in his conversation with Stephen, when I get back to that, since there are some Distinct Parallels.)

Unfortunately, Emet is in Solvunn, so they won't be able to meet in person, but I'm absolutely down for shoving him at Sephiroth in the Horizon!

I am SAD to inform you that Sephiroth knows squat about horses! The only horse he’s aware of in his world is six-legged, kind of magical one, and it isn’t exactly common… alas. They have chocobos though!!

Obviously this means that Ciri is also going to show him how horses work to complete the trifecta. He’ll consider it a part of his continued training lmao

OMG well then he's come to the right person if he wants to learn about Horse :^)

Ciri will teach him how to pet a horse. A very serious job for a soldier in training!

Hello sparring partners and swords, yes please. Zhou Zishu isn't quite military but getting into the training mindset might be one of the few things around here that makes any sense to him.

Absolutely! Is Zhou Zishu in Cadens? If not, we could have them meet up in the Horizon for some sparring!

He is! And he will be extremely surly about not having his sword.

Great! If you think he has any reason at all to wander close to military training areas, we can start with that. If not, then they can just run into each other in the city somewhere and maybe the idea comes up?

He absolutely would go right to the training yard as soon as allowed.

Tower sons unite?!

Okay, but I actually think these two would be potentially funny together. Wen Kexing is seen as the worst of the worst in his canon--he is one of the protagonists, but his social position is a villain to society. He was raised in a lawless outcast group so actually he's sort of given to picking at people's flaws and raw spots, and because he's from the end of the series, he's softened from trying to weaponize that toward more teasing and somewhat nurturing? It could work out for weird friendships!

And that sounds interesting! Sephiroth has a stone cold poker face and it takes a lot to get under his skin, but even he can be worn down with time… especially if someone is going with the teasing angle rather than being outright antagonistic lol. And it sounds like their positions are flipped; Sephiroth is lauded as a hero in his canon. I’d like to see how they get along with time and how they contrast with each other!

Does he hang around anywhere in particular in the city?

lol not giving him a reaction or rolling eyes at him especially would be attractive for Wen Kexing. He has to poke and stubbornness is like his strongest trait. Poor Seph with this stupid butterfly fluttering around him just trying to get a reaction, very poorly hiding his bloodthirsty aura.

It definitely sounds flipped. Wen Kexing hates heroes and society because he was sacrificed very early in life for "order" and for those in power to gain more. Right now he's still new and going to investigate all over, probably seeing where he can insert and maybe assert himself over small criminals or the like to get some stability. Gotta establish himself as strong to survive?

HMM what do you say to Sephiroth running into him while Wen Kexing is in the middle of dealing with some petty criminals? However you might envision that panning out. OR if you think he’d involve himself in some petty crime himself, maybe Seph can get caught in the middle of it?

I’m open to any ideas you might have for a prompt though!

I love that! Honestly he would totally have run-ins either fighting them if they dared to challenge him or actually doing business himself if they happened to be willing to respect a newcomer. I would love getting them tangled up in some shady dealing or just drag Seph into the middle of a conflict as an unfortunate passerby. Wen Kexing is used to intimidating minions as a crime lord so it is totally likely for him to try to bully his way over some small gang.

This is the wrong journal, but yesss that's great then. I was thinking of maybe Sephiroth being the unfortunate victim of a pickpocket attempt, and he gives hilariously quick chase to the guy, which might lead him back to Wen Kexing?

all i'm saying is that i think sephiroth and sam should be friends. kinda intimidating soldier man???? who needs friends?????

Oh I think Sam and Sephiroth would definitely get along after some time’s passed for him to warm up a little. Despite his own… employer, Sephiroth respects people who are steadfast and generally pretty honorable, with a good head on their shoulders. Sam’s military background won’t hurt, either.

Be his friend, he’s in dire need lol

sam is absolutely all of those things so sephiroth can take all the time he needs but sam is going to be VERY FRIENDLY AND HARD TO DISLIKE
