Mod Communications
If you have an idea related to the event plot, communicate and coordinate with us here. This includes NPC meetings, requesting resources, destroying the environment, or anything else that may require mod permission. If we can't accommodate a request for any reason, we'll do our best to offer an alternative!

Randomization Request
Request a mod dice roll at any time for outcomes and consequences. Some actions require a dice roll to proceed, such as attacking an acolyte NPC or attempting to break anything major in the environment (chains, doors, walls). If you aren't sure, you can check with us.

IC Exchanges
Use this option for interactions you'd like to play out, but setting up a standard IC thread would be impracticable. For instance, if your character wants to speak to several people about an event they witnessed together, you might want to do an IC exchange.
Treat this like an informal IC network thread done in person, where character reactions, snippets of dialogue, and other details can be quickly played out and concluded in-game without committing to a full log thread. Exchanges are game canon and can count towards Activity Check under the category of a Network thread.

Using the provided form is optional. Begin a thread freeform if you prefer.

Investigations
Several investigation paths are available for characters to interact with. Each assignment group will have their own set of investigation paths. You can investigate something as many times as you want, as long as there's a reasonable explanation for your character making their second attempt. Interacting with investigations might carry IC consequences. We'll try to telegraph when characters are at high risk of triggering something major. To investigate, fill out the form, then comment under the item you're investigating.

The natives add that some rituals use certain ingredients that help bring the user closer to the old gods. Jerry may or may not recognize the variety of psychedelic mushrooms they show him. These would be used in teas rather than in the form of a gelatin.
Overall, Jerry can conclude that the Solvunn natives don't know very much about the practices of the Acolytes, and that their activities don't have a strong basis in Solvunn's formal traditions.
One or two will recommend he try the mushroom tea for himself while in the woods to observe one of the shrines to induce "clarity of thought." If he wants, he can go ahead and attempt this. They advise him to bring an Elder along if he is inexperienced, or he may bring another Summoned to make sure he doesn't get lost.

When recommended he try the tea and shrine watching, Jerry will enthusiastically agree. He says he has experience with psychedelics and thanks them for the suggestion, promising to bring someone along.
Once he concludes there's not much else he'll be getting from asking around and that the creature likely doesn't have anything to do with Solvunn's gods, Jerry will go back to the primary settlement and rope Eddie Munson into his shenanigans. Together, they'll go to one of the shrines in the woods, where Jerry will partake of the mushroom tea prepared as the natives instructed him. Eddie will remain sober to make sure they don't get lost. Enjoy responsibly!
Edited to add, just in case it's relevant: Deciding they should probably leave some sort of offering, but having come a bit unprepared, Eddie puts a few coppers in the shrine's offering bowl; Jerry leaves it some dried meat he brought as a snack.

In addition to the expected effects from the tea, while under its influence Jerry can see the shrine in its original form featuring twin snakes. When the offerings are made, a serpent will crawl out of the carving. Its scales are patchy and the blooming flower around its head is wilted. Eddie will be able to see the snake, as well, but not the shrine in its original form.
The snake seems to be waiting for them to follow. If they do, it will lead them to one of the mushroom rings that's appeared in the woods. Picking a mushroom will cause another one to spring up in its place. These mushrooms are common edible mushrooms with no side effects, and are quite tasty when roasted or in put in a stew. They're one of the few healthy vegetation in the corrupted areas, suggesting the mushroom rings may have something to do with the magic being used during these disappearances.

Once they make it to the mushroom ring, what does the snake do? Jerry will continue to follow it wherever it goes if able; if it disappears, he's just gonna sit in the middle of the mushroom ring and pick a few.
As for Eddie: since the shrooms look so healthy, he'll check out the unhealthy vegetation in the immediate surrounding area just to see what's up, what vibes it's giving off, take the chance to get away from the snake just a lil bit, etc
If nothing more can be found other than the already noted difference between unhealthy vegetation and healthy mushrooms, they'll head back.
Jerry will approach one of the elders in the primary settlement with his findings and show them the mushroom. He's going to describe everything that happened, visions and all. Being familiar with the concept of "fairy rings" from general folklore, he'll ask if these are common, if they have fairies, and if fairies are known to snatch people away into the fairy realm.
no subject
Eddie may notice that the unhealthy vegetation are not fungal in nature. They would be leaves, grass, flowers, and shrubs. They're also contained in a small area rather than spreading throughout the entirety of the woods.
The Council will tell Jerry about the Feywildes, of which little is known, but that the Feywildes are not known to capture nor bother anyone so far from their territory. Any trouble with the Feywildes is normally contained to Nocwich. They'll advise him further that his vision was probably from a guardian of the shrine he visited, and that it must be showing him a way to restore the shrine back to its original state. They tell him to hang onto the mushrooms as it may be important to unlocking the secrets within Josselyn's home or the magic used by the Acolytes.

Jerry will thank the Elders for the info and consider himself tasked with restoring the shrine. He's actually very good at arts and crafts type projects, and as more info is discovered pointing to high magic and gods involved in the kidnappings, he'll be focusing his efforts on the shrine since he'll consider it connected. If he can find equipment around town, he will be doing his best to clean up the shrine, fix the carvings of the snakes, and paint it.
He hangs onto the mushrooms and will be keeping Himeka looped in as well. If anyone needs them to access still in Josselyn's house, Jerry is more than happy to share and be helpful.
Edited to add: Himeka and Eddie will help restore the shrine too!

Himeka has discovered a unique interaction between the mushrooms and the rotted wood that they may find useful for Part 2 pertaining to either Josselyn's home or the cure depending on where they would like to put their focus.
