EVENT #12: INVOCATION - COORDINATION POST (PART 2)

Event #12 - COORDINATION ( 2 )

This post is for coordination while the event is ongoing, to prevent the IC Event Log from being overrun by OOC mod and player communications. The comments section will contain applicable comments and forms for you to reply to as needed.

Use this post to:
◎ Coordinate event plots with the mods
◎ Request a mod dice roll
◎ Investigate or interact with a plot point
◎ Submit noticeable actions
◎ Write rapid IC exchanges
If you have any questions, see the Questions thread on the OOC Plotting Post.
Available Forms
For details on each form, see the sections below.
Be sure to reply under your assigned category if applicable.
Mod Communications / Randomization
If you have something you want to do related to the event plot, you can communicate and coordinate with us here. This includes NPC meetings, requesting large resources, destroying the environment, or anything else that may require mod permission to proceed. If we can't accommodate a request for any reason, we'll do our best to offer an alternative!

You can also use this section to request a randomized mod roll.

Interactions
Several interactions are available. For Part 2, there are fewer mysteries to uncover, but plenty to interact with to see what happens. You can interact with something as many times as you want, as long as there's a reasonable explanation for your character making their second attempt. Note that interactions might carry IC consequences, though we'll try to telegraph when characters are at high risk of triggering something. To interact, fill out the form, then comment under the corresponding item.

Interact

IC Exchanges
Use this option if you have an interaction you'd like to play out, but setting up a standard IC thread would be impracticable. For example, if your character wants to speak to several people about an event they witnessed together, you might want to do an IC exchange.

Treat this like an informal IC network thread done in person, where character reactions, snippets of dialogue, and other details can be quickly played out and concluded in-game without committing to a full log thread. Exchanges are game canon, and can count towards Activity Check under the category of a Network thread.

Start an IC exchange

Using the provided form is optional. Begin a thread freeform if you prefer.

Notable Actions
Submit any notable actions that are likely to gain attention from other players such as fights or disturbances.

Network to Spared - Retrieval Team Formation

[personal profile] aquaveiled 2023-03-21 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi everyone,

I'm sure you've seen that our lost friends are escaping on their own! Thanks to Julie for breaking the news and tending to those that she can. We'll get more information as more are able to come forward and find a safe space to reach out to us, but what we do know is that not all were able to make it out.

It looks like several people are already making plans to track those that did escape down, so I am planning on going to find the others.

We're still working our coordinates, but we do know that our suspicions are correct. They're up north on an island near the border of the Free Cities and Thorne. We know that Josselyn Creed is using her connections all over Abraxas to pull this off, but her time is short. We can find them.

We've had the support of our respective nations up until now and can still use that to our advantage. I think a road trip is nigh and I doubt I'm the only one itching to go and retrieve our friends.

Who's in?

You know I'm in. Viktor is giving me the receiver, and when we get close to the island I should probably be able to pinpoint the general location within a mile or two on the tracker. It'll be harder since they're probably underground. Finding the exact entrance or how to get in will be the hard part. Especially as apparently there are illusions all over the place.

[personal profile] aquaveiled 2023-03-22 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Perfect! And thank you. You both have already done so much to find out where they are.

Breaking and entering was probably already on the docket. Besides, and island is a much smaller place to scour. Illusions can be dispelled and walls can get broken.

The portal that dropping them off in the mountains may not be working anymore like Julie suggested, but smashing in doors is a tried and true method.

From what I was told, there was some success with dispelling some of the illusions they were using, since it wasn't academic magic I don't believe. So if we can get some Thorne mages to go with us, they can probably help with that part.

If there is a way to persuade the remaining cultists to let them out, we could try that. I doubt any of this is turning out the way they expected it to. If we can get them to hand them over to us, all the better.

But if not, yeah, smash in the doors.

Opposing magicks cancelling each other out? That does make sense. And I agree, any help they could provide would be welcome. The Council is already appalled at how what has been considered sacred rituals and magicks in Solvunn are being manipulated.

Hopefully they would appeal to empathy or something, but some of them may feel their fates are already sealed. I'm not sure if we can reasonably offer them amnesty but it's worth trying. I think the hammer is going to come down hardest on Josselyn.

Though you're a blacksmith and Viktor is basically an alchemist, right? ...Can you make bombs?

[ You know. Just in case. If Goblins can make bombs surely Jayce and Viktor can. ]

Free Cities can provide the ship to take us over, if Thorne mages can help shield it, I suspect we have to make this as subtle as possible. They might try to move them if they see us coming.

We're both scientists, so, yes. I'm not sure that's a good idea, bombs in enclosed spaces like that can be very dangerous.

I'm thinking negotiation and/or espionage are the best moves here. Fighting our way in should be last, it sounds like they're caught in a tight space. We could easily crush our own people if done incorrectly.

[personal profile] aquaveiled 2023-04-06 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
If anyone would have illusionary magicks it would be Thorne, right? And that would be perfect!

Bombs can also make new spaces, yes? Just something to keep in mind.

[ Do not take bombs nor ever give Himeka a bomb. For everyone's sake. ]

Luckily we have a few people with skills in both. My friend Thancred is a master at the latter, actually. And he can make himself literally invisible for a bit. If he can help find a way in I'm sure we can get people out. I'm ready to knock out a few of our adversaries myself.

I have additional confirmation on the escape and the fact that some remained behind.

Unfortunately, it sounds like they set something big free in order to cause a distraction (or perhaps enough damage) to cover their escape and those that are left have been rounded up and contained in a smaller location. I'm told the entire area may have seawater slowly seeping in now, however, perhaps from the damage done in the escape attempt. It's not imminently dire, but any longer than a week might be a different story.

Himeka, I'm in. Let me know if there's anything additional you need from me, or where you want to start this.

Filling up with water? Then time really is of the essence. A lot can get done in a week, though, and I think we're up to the task.

Honestly I could use help with all of that. It's a group effort, right? I think we should all highlight our best skills and find out where we fit in best to save our friends. What is it you would like to do?

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2023-03-22 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
Getting into places unnoticed is something of a specialty of mine. I don't know what approach you intend to take to secure their release, but if you need someone to go in from an alternate entrance, or take a backup or distraction team while the main one tries a more straightforward approach, it might improve our chances.

I don't know what state we'll find their captors in by this point. They've certainly thrown things into chaos, so that will either be to our benefit... or it'll make them desperate.

My normal method of dungeon crawling is usually go in with fireballs blazing, but given that we have friends imprisoned there who may also be hostages at this point, I can see why that wouldn't necessarily be the best option.

[ At least she knows herself. ]

Trying to find multiple ways in may be a good idea. Based on what Julie said the portal they were able to access was behind a wall covered in webbing, but I would be surprised if the ONLY way to go in was one specific portal... There has to be an old-fashioned way.

Once we're in, I admit I'd like to see if we can take our friends peacefully. But we may not get that option.
widows_kiss: fond (A1 007)

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2023-03-22 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a time and place for fireballs, I'm sure. And it's a great backup plan if we have to settle for an alternative option. I think hoping for a peaceful resolution isn't a bad thing - as long as you're aware it might not work the way you want to, and have contingencies in place in case it falls through.
aquaveiled: (himeka-483)

[personal profile] aquaveiled 2023-03-23 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
Well...when you put it that way, I figure it would go something like this:

Plan A, they do as we say and it all ends peacefully. (And we can bring them to justice on our terms.)

Plan B, they're hesitant and we can try to wrangle out as many of our friends as possible. (Mayhaps this is where you were mentioning distractions? Right under their noses.)

Plan C, we begin combat.

I'm not really afraid of any of those options. If it comes to C, I'm prepared to keep everyone up when it's needed.

[ Full Party, get. ]

Should you need strength or violence, I am likely the best person to call upon.

Thank you, Alucard! I know you've been working hard on uncovering this mystery.

I'd like to get our friends back with the least amount of bloodshed as possible, but I don't think that's something we can count on. The lengths they've gone to conceal what they're doing and how much harm they've caused...they may be willing to do anything.

Understood. At the very least we may need to restrain the ones that remain so we can bring them back with us. They should be held accountable for what they've done.

Not yet. I kind of wrote this up while pacing. I figure our factions can help us out if we ask, but is that something you'd like to do?
funbreaker: (thancred-court-003)

[personal profile] funbreaker 2023-03-22 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Ask Thorne for help? [ While he is not certain how that will go, if he's honest, he also knows they can't leave any potential resources unexplored. ] I will see what I can do, though if it is boats that we need, I suspect the Free Cities is where we would have to turn.
aquaveiled: (himeka-576)

[personal profile] aquaveiled 2023-03-23 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, mayhaps Jayce can help with that? I'll see what he has to say.

Either way, this is one of the few times every nation has been on common ground. This may also show them that they can work together when it matters.
funbreaker: (thancred-court-022)

[personal profile] funbreaker 2023-03-23 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Aye, check with him. As you say, I think we may need the cooperation of all the factions if we hope to pull this off.

In the meantime, I will consult with Stephen and Yennefer about appealing to Thorne officials for aid.

It's nice to "meet" you, Lenore, though I hope we can in person before we embark. I'm Himeka.

All of those skills are highly in need! Thank you so much for offering to help. I think we'll need everyone we can in order to pull this off. Our friends are likely in poor condition so we very well may need to carry them out, too.

I'm in agreement. We may need to figure out what leverage we can offer if they need convincing, so I'll have to see what the Council would be okay with. But we should be ready if worst comes to worst.
